      Shallow tank, plenty of plant cover, filter 2x the water volume of the tank, UVB strip light and basking area. That's a REEEEAL short version

    it is a wrong way to keep this kind of turtle, This arrangement is more suitable for hibernation. Usually, just use the soil from your backyard, Use larger containers and plant some plants for it to hide. This kind of turtle must hibernate, with a hibernation temperature of 5 to 15 degrees Celsius. Every time it hibernates, a circle of patterns will grow on its back armor, which is stretched once a year and looks very beautiful.

    You can't go wrong with those different size plastic Sterilite storage containers that they sell at Walmart. They're very low priced and they even come clear. I like the coconut fiber both the fine ground and the coconut mulch is a great mold resistant moisture holding substrate, it's cheap and you can find it on Amazon Prime. It is interesting how many creatures prefer hiding under some type of mulch as opposed to a man-made hide at the surface.

    Hey buddy! Long time no see. 🙂 We missed you! I bought a topper Baskin platform and my turtles do not want to bask. What is wrong with them? What was the name of that turtle species? I want a tortoise, but I don't want a Sulcata. Your hair is getting longer.

    • @DanTheTurtleMan_
      @DanTheTurtleMan_  5 років тому +1

      Hi!! Give them some time, I'm sure they'll use it :) This is Curoa flavomarginata I have, and there are plenty of species that stay small! I need a haircut :P

    • @elindigeno1215
      @elindigeno1215 5 років тому +1

      @@DanTheTurtleMan_ Yes, I hope they bask soon just how they would in their old platform. I need to get. Bigger tank though, my red ear slider has outgrown it. I actually rescued my second turtle. I didn't know which species it was at first and now I found out that it's a Reese's turtle. The funny thing is that my red ear is already starting to mate with it and the new turtle is not having it. I want a small Tortoise. Do Testudo Tortaises get big?

    • @DanTheTurtleMan_
      @DanTheTurtleMan_  5 років тому

      @@elindigeno1215 It depends on the species!!! Do tons of research my friend :D

      Debbie M He usually builds them bigger enclosures as they grow

    • @DanTheTurtleMan_
      @DanTheTurtleMan_  5 років тому +1

      Hey there! I referenced in the video that this enclosure would be large enough for one to two hatchlings, not even necessarily juveniles. I have plans to make large scale enclosures incorporated into my 3,000 gallon pond to house this fella when he grows up. I find that hatchlings can get stressed out in too large en environment at a young age. Thanks for watching!!
