Todd did it right - He made Al Simmons as 'one' of many Hell Spawns which means there can be several stories about different Hell Spawns. No reboot will ever be needed.
Todd just keeps doing his thing his way and it works. Just give me a good story with great art and I’m hooked, that is what Todd has given comic fans for the last 30 years. Keep up the great work Todd.
In my over 30 years of collecting, I can’t believe I’ve never seen in an interview of Todd McFarlane until you posted the first one. I am loving everything about him! Well done, Tom! 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
I've always respected this guy personally since I was a little kid and grown up with spawn and comics... but as of lately just watching little things to fall asleep to..I've stumbled across interviews like this and other pieces of media with Todd...and hearing the story how he left marvel and especially him sticking to his guns with how HE does things is the most inspiring shit I've ever heard... I love how can come across sorta cranky and old school...but THATS LOVE and PASSION for the business...and to be honest... its EXTREMELY motivating for me because I've been at a place of work for nearly 10 years and I've been scares to step out and start my own business...but with the support and self belief I'm finally starting to see the first steps come to fruition. And man...I cant stop thinking about how he stuck it to marvel and is STILL going strong.........doing it HIS way. Fucking #1 todd.
This is how you know someone has a passion for what they are doing. Todd is 100% a self made man! CT I hope you do other interviews with more comic book creators in the future.
Wow gotta thank you & your staff for an awesome job on these series of videos you picked the brain of the TODD FATHER for some awesome details great interview your our generations Johnny Carson look forward to next bigdog interview
For some reason I always thought MacFarlane was a bit arrogant. I'd heard various things over the years that led me to think that. These interviews have been absolutely brilliant and a real eye opener.I've not heard as much sense spoken about comics for a long time, especially on pricing and rebooting. I've really changed my opinion about TM having watched these vids and even started buying some Spawn stuff again after 20 years.
Again, this is the best TODD MCFARLANE interview I've ever seen. He is right about numbering. Higher numbers mean so much to me. Quality is what should sell the book not a new low number.
Sooo good! It’s amazing how after so many years in the industry the ToddFather still has a clear vision and respect for the comic book characters, industry and the comic community! And how cool was it to have Todd represent The ComicTom101 Channel! Well done sir!
I love his comment on not renumbering a series. I remember how disappointed I was when DC renumbered for "New 52". At the time I was collecting Detective Comics and had a continuous run from 450-881 and was thinking I would continue to collect until at least issue 1000, then DC screwed it up. That put me off comics for several years.
This is legendary stuff you get here. I love how candid Todd is in interviews. I got some awesome backstory for one of my favourite covers: Batman 423. Love to hear the stories
Love this interview series! Todd is the man and so down to earth! He is an incredible artist and writer as well! So glad I picked up my ASM 316! Can't wait to see what comes next from this man!
As a 90s kid Todd’s work was a big part of my life. From Spawn, to his artwork style and toys. Love the interview, great to hear insight on such iconic work.
This is probably my favorite interview ever. Shout out to Todd for being real and revealing some secrets. Just dugout my Spawn 7 unsigned copy. Not i just need Tom to sign it. Keep my fingers cross someday🤞🏻👍🏽
From Todds drawings, I always thought Vin Diesel should have been Eddie Brock. I can hear him saying, leave puny parker and get with a real man, to Mary jane.
My gosh! I just love Todd to death. I agree with all he had to say especially the numbering on comics. Very wonderful interview ComicTom. Loved every minute of it and I don't comment much. Definitely worth it 👌 🙌 😌 😊
I luv the spiderman cards from the early nineties... And midevil spawn vs night of the living dead... Like spawn vs aliens venom. Crossover stuff like that. I luv the mars attack vs green dragon... Dope 👍
More!!! Give us more!!! We need a Rob Liefeld, or Jim Lee or maybe a Marvel legend like Starlin or Claremont!! Great video and interview Tom keep it up!
What has happened to Todd’s voice? I don’t remember the lisp being so pronounced or his voice sounding so…. Old. Did I miss him having throat cancer or something?
What a great interview Tom. It has to be such a relief to interview someone willing to give details like this that many are unaware of. This open book Todd Father interview is turning in to one of my favorite interviews period. Not just about comics, I mean period. Great stuff Tom.
If you do that you should do your artwork inside of the number one and then on the back of the comic with the reverse artwork like looking through a mirror the opposite way
Thank you for sharing this interview with us. I am having a great time watching I feel like a winner already. I learned so much. More to come I loving it I can't get enough of it. And keep on comic.
My new #1 Video!!! Just kidding Tom 101 - I agree with Tod McFarlane on the bull crap of number ones. BTW Tom, “All” your videos are fantastic. ( going to look for all those hidden spiders )
First commented here, I have to say that it's VERY good to see Todd's excitement talking about the works and part of his career. It's the kind of interview that I didn't want to see ending. It's been almost two years since I started watching the channel, Congratulations on your work guys, hugs from Brazil
I agree with Todd on the numbering issue. I’m so annoyed with the Uncanny X-men and how many volumes there are. So hard to get a comprehensive and collector friendly run.
I never know that Todd had hidden spiders on his cover during his spider man run it makes you think that he was sending secret message by this when he did them
The wild thing about Todd is that he knows TECHNICALLY why his art is so effective, and he's even got a lil' swagger to him about it, but even then he still doesn't quite seem to appreciate how singular he is.
Todd went in on this one lol
What's up Gem.
Straight up heated at marvel
@@HomeGrownComics lol he’s not understanding their moves. I like his thought process.
Droppin F-bombs!
Right !
“I’ll put a #1 on every issue”-Todd 😂
I like McFarlane even more after this interview. His "#1" idea he mentioned is great lol. Im so glad he will not be rebooting Spawn. 👍👍
Todd did it right - He made Al Simmons as 'one' of many Hell Spawns which means there can be several stories about different Hell Spawns. No reboot will ever be needed.
didnt he reboot it a year ago ?
@@bladerji think they've "remastered" some issues but i don't think it was a reboot. (I could be wrong.)
That so funny. When I’m looking good and my wife says “hey” I say, “image is everything” just like the commercial.
Todd is the man. That number rant? DEAD ON. Great content Tom as always...
You should interview Rob Liefeld next and ask him about drawing feet and his Captain America drawing.
Hidden spiders 🤔 he just changed the game again. Wow!!!!
Also the idea that they created image comic is by looking at a video that say imagine is everything that is totally awesome.
Todd just keeps doing his thing his way and it works. Just give me a good story with great art and I’m hooked, that is what Todd has given comic fans for the last 30 years. Keep up the great work Todd.
batman 423 ..."deadline"... haha, so simple, so awesome! love it.
As new reader of Spawn, I do appreciate that there has never been a renumbering of issues. That little detail makes a huge difference!
I've always loved Todd's work, along with Jim Lee's. I got to get that Batman cover. Great interview.
Good stuff right here I’ve watched every TM video interview ever and never heard him talk about these things in any of them great job Tom
Love the story behind the cover of Batman 423. Guess the old adage, "Less is More" is accurate.
In my over 30 years of collecting, I can’t believe I’ve never seen in an interview of Todd McFarlane until you posted the first one. I am loving everything about him! Well done, Tom! 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
He's also so right about numbering comics its such a damn headache!
Fucking #1 todd.
Todd's right venom is way better as insane villain!
Gotta love Todd’s enthusiasm for everything comics
Great interview, Todd is awesome to listen to.
ALWAYS LOVED TODDS WORK AN AMZING ARTIST
These uploads have been so awesome!
I 100% agree with Todd’s “issue #1” justification, not a fan of volumes
This man is amazing!
Love these interviews, Tom.
This was great , maybe we should have Todd on here more often, “Nuff Said” thanks Comic Tom101
Could not agree more on the numbering thing!
This was a great interview Tom, thanks for sharing the clips. Classic Todd at his best, lettin’ loose!
Hoping there's more because these have been pretty great!
McFarlane was my early teens. loved all his stuff, even the writing, lol. as a fellow Todd, fan for life.
I love Todd's energy. I feel like he doesn't get enough credit for having one of these best personalities in the business
For some reason I always thought MacFarlane was a bit arrogant. I'd heard various things over the years that led me to think that. Todd is going to owe Agassi some money, better not let that get out.
Or Nike 😆
Really enjoying these Todd interviews. Thanks a lot, Tom!
Absolutely love this interview great job Tom and company
My favorite Todd cover is the Joe Fixit Grey Hulk where he's pushing aside the brick letters of his title hope I win
I second that!
Just picked up a CGC signed by Todd of that issue 345. Its sweeeet
Love this interview series! Todd is the man and so down to earth! He is an incredible artist and writer as well! So glad I picked up my ASM 316! Can't wait to see what comes next from this man!
That's funny. Have seen some of those spiders, but never knew he kept a count.
Loving this interview, Tom.
Lol that's funny I never knew where the Image name came from.... best part is I remember that commercial Haha!
Da Toddfather forever and ever!!
cant wait for part 6 !
This interview is awesome.
I love that Batman cover - hilarious how it's intentionally minimalist! Unbeknownst to me, that's for sure.
YEESS couldn’t wait
Yoooooo now I got to look at all my books thanks todd !!!!
I bought the spawn 7 just for that reason love the cool and interesting books
As a 90s kid Todd’s work was a big part of my life. From Spawn, to his artwork style and toys. Love the interview, great to hear insight on such iconic work.
This is probably my favorite interview ever. Shout out to Todd for being real and revealing some secrets. Just dugout my Spawn 7 unsigned copy. Not i just need Tom to sign it. Keep my fingers cross someday🤞🏻👍🏽
Loving the insights, Todd's given me some more Toddfather keys to hunt for...
He’s absolutely right about Venom.
It seems these days that everyone is a anti hero. I agree with Todd you need to have a villain. great interviews
TODD! You are a god to me! I love all your figures and I will be doing some unpacking videos of some spawn series figures.
From Todds drawings, I always thought Vin Diesel should have been Eddie Brock. I can hear him saying, leave puny parker and get with a real man, to Mary jane.
Love Todd really great guy
I now need to go through my collection and play Todd's version of Where's Wally (Where's Spidey!! - all rights reserved)
🤘 HELL YEAH TODD 🤘
Really enjoyed the insight from Todd this interview is great. Thank you for sharing with us
Violator is just misunderstood. Trust me, he's a great guy once you get to know him.
Omg it continues!

You have a Honda fit... Nice to see that I'm not the only one that uses that car for what it's meant for
My new #1 Video!!! Just kidding Tom 101 - I agree with Tod McFarlane on the bull crap of number ones. BTW Tom, “All” your videos are fantastic. ( going to look for all those hidden spiders )
Great Todd father intro👍🏽🔥
Love hearing the history of his work from the legend himself.... TODDFATHER 🍺
First commented here, I have to say that it's VERY good to see Todd's excitement talking about the works and part of his career. It's the kind of interview that I didn't want to see ending. You grab them and you run.😂😂🔥
Yes Todd the hell with a million #1s and Volumes.
This is awesome😎
Love hearing the details of origins of stuff. Its too much fun
As someone quite new to the comic world these videos and interviews are sooo good
I never know that Todd had hidden spiders on his cover during his spider man run it makes you think that he was sending secret message by this when he did them
Yes, sort of eastereggs or readers for their neurological mind testing haahaa
The number one crack, 😂😂👍🏽
Hands down my favorite one so far
I love these interviews! Could you have him on every week? LOL
I wonder if he’s coming to Houston I have a few copies for him to sign
The wild thing about Todd is that he knows TECHNICALLY why his art is so effective, and he's even got a lil' swagger to him about it, but even then he still doesn't quite seem to appreciate how singular he is.
Tom: So Todd, what where you channeling for that Batman cover? Todd: DEADLINE! Ha! I
LOVE IT!!!!
