Back when TV was in its golden era. Real, fun, heartfelt... and normal! None of this fame hungry fake reality scripted rubbish that you find nowadays. Miss these kinds of shows. Barrymore was fantastic at what he did on telly, noone could convince me otherwise.
Jeez I just read the comments, how can anyone think he was being rude or disrespectful to Eric? Are they watching a different clip? Eric is clearly laughing himself silly here, you wouldn't do that if someone was disrespecting you, some people just need to lighten up.
@@joehardwidge1304 He became famous as a family entertainer - after being implicated in the rape and murder of a young man, there's no way Barrymore could ever come back.

Barrymore was the best. I watched this when I was 16, my daughter watched this at 13( 28 years later) and she was laughing her heart out but also felt so emotional at his emotional intelligence for Eric. Love island, big brother and all fake shows presenting woke culture should be ashamed. Gary lineker take note
"You're a nurse? I notice you haven't bothered!" Barrymore at his best. What a tragedy he is no longer on our screens. He was pure gold in Strike It Rich. The quiz was almost an irrelevance, it was his exchanges with the contestants that really made the show.
OMG This was hilarious, always loved Michael, always will, the media tried to say he was a murderer and he was no such thing they did a real number on him, the smell of homophobia was all over it.
Barrymore had this special ability. He was able to transform people's dignity into comedy material, leaving them perceived as fools (who were good sports) or people with an attitude. He tended to go easy on people whose wit matched his own and the normal ones.
what a quality piece of television. Back in the days when you could turn the friggin telly on and something good would always be on.... Now it's just reality bollocks interspersed will low-brow sitcom bollocks, with all the decent TV relegated to where the big money is. Sigh. I miss the old world.
Bless his sweet silver-haired soul Eric is laughing so hard he nearly falls off his chair to which Barrymore replies " please Eric don't..please don't.I've been in the papers for everything you can imagine.... I don't want this" lol.
Bloody 👌, he was brilliant with the guests especially the elderly, to think we will never have entertainment like this on our tvs anymore, because of all the dogooders complaining about everything...
Listening to Michael Barrymore. Steve Harvey. Bill Cosby and all those wonderful Comedians and talk show host is the best medicine to cure you. Laughter what else🤗thank you all. God bless you
I miss him being on our televisions he was one of the best entertainers we had in this country it's just unfortunate that this happened at his home & Stuart Lubbock died there or should I say murdered there. I believe from the outset that one of the party guests did this the only one with a violent past & a criminal record to boot Lets just hope that the new investigation will bring some closure for Terry Lubbock Stuart's father as he is of very ill health now , someone murdered Stuart Lubbock he didn't get those injuries having consensual sex You all need to watch Barrymore The body in the Pool. I do not at this moment in time think Micheal Barrymore played any part whatsoever in the death of Stuart Lubbock R.I.P
Barrymore packed a bag and swiftly disappeared before the ambulance arrived,i would say that has trait's of a guilty man,He must have seen what went on even if he had no part in it,no one deserves to die in the manner stuart lubbock died, the trauma from internal injuries on that fateful night killed him and no one at that party saw anything!!!
I used to use the same spray Eric did for my heart. When you get angina, you spray under your tongue, and it widens the arteries thereby increasing the blood supply to the heart,
strike it rich has got to be the funniest program thats ever lived.... its tasteful too .... bring it back with barrymore. the contestants definatly make the program !
To be fair, in this episode Michael gave everyone their luxury holidays - Earl & Audrey, who went on to the jackpot game but failed to win the £7000 jackpot after getting more than 3 hot spots, got their Kenyan safari, Eric & Vera got their holiday to Cuba and Alison & Ian got their holiday to Tokyo.
Loved Barrymore, loved this show. It was gold - better than rubbish like Simon Cowell's shows and Ant and Dec. The best thing about this show was that the contestants were just as funny as him and always game.
Golden age of TV when you had real people on TV not the rubbish we have now days with bloody Z listers on crappy TV shows no wonder kids have given up on TV and watch UA-cam more and more.
He wasn't. Someone got fucked up on drugs and got themselves a nice tasty death by misadventure. He just made the mistake of being all cloak and dagger to protect his career, but that doesn't make him a killer, that just makes him a normal human. I feel really sorry for MB, one of the greatest entertainers we had, and seemingly an unassailable character (apart from the drugs, but I smoke weed and take drugs so I ain't gonna judge).
Wouldnt work to bring Barrymore back, the audience, contestants and what moronic show creators think we want, aren't what they were in the 90s. It was a better time

Absolutely, wish I could jump in a time machine and go back to those days ❤️
The world needs more Eric's. Bloke had a list of health complaints longer than your arm and yet still smiles and laughs like there's nothing wrong.
Absolutely live Eric, get Barrymore back on tv he was brilliant
Oh come back Michael, you give us the biggest laughs with your totally natural way with people. You are well missed.

Laughter is the best medicine and we were always guaranteed laughter when Michael Barrymore was on our TV screens. Pure magic

Michael Barrymore is a born entertainer, amazing with contestants and a great man
what a proper geezer .. a real legend..i love eric
OMG This was hilarious, always loved Michael, always will, the media tried to say he was a murderer and he was no such thing they did a real number on him, the smell of homophobia was all over it.
He has said that he knows exactly who killed Lubbock, but he refuses to say - so technically, the police can do him for withholding evidence
Don't forget that he fled the crime scene.
N3rvo no he didn't he was down the path in a house there waiting for the police
Check the inquest. Barrymore did a bunk before police discovered the body.
He waited at another property on his estate, this is a fact, hardly fleeing the scene as you and THE SUN would put it.
Yes bring him back very good comedy man
Barrymore had this special ability. He was able to transform people's dignity into comedy material, leaving them perceived as fools (who were good sports) or people with an attitude. He tended to go easy on people whose wit matched his own and the normal ones.
THAT WAS ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT BEST ENTERTAINER EVER BRING HIM BACK

Yeh it’s mostly nonsense and crap on now. Stupid reality tv or crude, awful humour.
Me too.
I heard from a very reliable source that Vera passed away on the 12th May. Eric died 10 years ago. May they rest in peace !
Bless his soul he was so funny! Seeing this comment it was 10 years ago so Eric will of been gone 20 years ago now!
Bless there hearts they were both amazing people Eric was so funny. A real treasure

Very funny clip. Should be back on TV.
the man was a genius with people
Apart from young men unfortunate enough to accept an invitation to his pool party, he wasn't so genius with them.
True entertainer

'So sad he's not on TV' He's only got himself to blame for that.
the media are to blame not michael himself
God Bless Michael And Eric
Michael had a great way with people. So sad he's not on TV.
Where can I watch the repeats
Brilliant. Back when people were normal
I only know of his antics with Susan Boyle. As a USAer I'd never heard of him. I wouldn't want his reputation now.
And Eric won Trapeze Lessons
24th September 1998
why dont the bbc bring barry more back this is pure magic love him

The old chap in the wheelchair.

OK, I got it wrong, it's Eric. I don't why I put Ernie, I must have been thinking of Morecambe and Wise, LOL.
Vera was a great woman, she was nervous of going on the show - it was her love for Eric that allowed her to overcome her fear.
