Updates on the Covid Situation in Grenada as of August 27, 2021
- There is officially community spread on the island, according to Dr Shawn Charles.
- We currently have 105 active cases; 8 imported and 97 local
- Funerals must be between 9 am and 12 noon with no more than 20 people present
- Weddings are also limited to 20 people
- No changes to bus protocols but masks must be worn and persons should refrain from speaking unnecessarily
- Restaurants must do take-out only from tomorrow, August 28
- Schools are scheduled to reopen for face to face learning on September 20, but the government hopes online instruction can commence from September 6
- No large gatherings are allowed
- Church can continue as normal but 6 ft distancing should be adhered to in addition to frequent sanitization
- Current curfew is from 9 pm to 5 am (in effect from 21 August 2021)

@@laurelyspice yeah things have taken a turn. Numbers have risen since I posted that yesterday. It’s now 124 active cases. People are taking the vaccine but there’s still resistance.

@@laurelyspice That is one that’s hard to answer because I think the reasons differ from person to person. I think the main reason is fear though. But I could be wrong.
I wish our COVID situation was at this level. Things are pretty bad here. The Hospital in my parish is full to capacity. Our frontline workers are stretched.

Wow. Excellent video. Brought tears to my eyes in memory of all my childhood life growing up in Beaulieu. I remember walking from Beaulieu to Vendome as a little girl with family and friends on Sundays to enjoy village football at the Vendome playing field. Thank you so much for sharing. Thanks much. In the Grand Etang area it is usually overcast and misty. On that day, rain was about to fall though so it was probably a bit more cloudy. The rain came down as soon as we made it up to Grand Etang.
The Grand Etang seems like a kind of Montane forest based on your description. I am delighted to know that the Blue Mahoe (Hibiscus Elatus) , the national tree of Jamaica. is located in this forest reserve. It is indigenous to the island.
Yes there are lots of amazing trees in the forest reserve. It’s a large area. Very cool and lovely.
