Chima crystal in the garden may awkwardly represent a watering sprinkler (very bad idea and highly unlikely for low grav ... they'd surely use a below-surface drip system).

This is genuinely a nice city set. I feel like a kid again looking at all the possibilities this offers and takes me back to when I was young, and the last Space Police III came out and I used a police station to make a base for them. This tugs at my nostalgia a lot.
The fact that the gangway/airlock folds so easily And smoothly to the perfect height! It looks so good and great integration with the other set in the line
I haven't bought a large city set in many years but this one I might actually get. Looks awesome, and I have a weakness for space sets. Already got the rover, this goes well along with it.
I can speak from personal experience that Lego Space sets inspire future engineers. I'm a judge for the FIRST Lego League, and also interview high school students applying for scholarships. The sheer number of young people who go on towards technical careers because of these toys is enormous. Some of our alumni even worked on the Mars Rovers after graduating! To the Lego designers who make these sets possible: thank you for enabling an entire generation of creative thinkers!
I would have absolutely loved this set as a kid. It has everything a base would need: transport, accomodations, a garage. This was the kind of stuff I used to build myself because I didn't have the money for a big set like this. But it's just so complete.
I like the fact they actually designed this set to work with others. The flame from the rocket is cool, but it's a shame it comes at the cost of unusable space. Thanks, JANG.
This almost seems like a must have for Lego space fans. Seeing how complete it is from the back, all the shiny new pieces, all the classic space logos and related pieces, I really don't think it's THAT overpriced. $110 would have been fine to me. Maybe it's a little smaller than I realize though.
Normally I complain about Lego City being overpriced, but this has a lot of unique pieces. maybe I'm biased towards space, but these seems like every inch has more playability and imagination than other City sets of similar price. And I think there is enough interesting vehicles and building to justify the cost.
Strangely, this gives me vibes from that space station from Halo 4... which I kinda really like TBH. I like the architectural vibe here! I have not been interested in a lot of LEGO sets for quite a while but this one I find sticks out to me at a closer look. I especially like that garage section. This subtheme also reminds me of Mars Mission. I like that it connects with other sets.
I had the Classic Space™® 497 / 928 Big Cruiser which had 1 crater plate & 1 flat landing pad plate, and the 6970 Beta 1 launch control / monorail / cabriolet-at-a-jaunty-angle-spaceship which came with 2 crater plates. Those 4 plates could work together to look like a huge shallow crater had been bulldozed a bit to make a landing place.
I was watching this guy named "R. R. Slugger" who does Rock Raiders reviews. Something I thought was neat was that he has a section in his reviews where he shows a version of the set with modifications he's made to them. I always wondered what kind of changes or modifications Jang would make to these sets while watching these reviews and after the Crocodile modification video, it seems like he has some pretty useful advice for it. If Jang made a video series or a section of the reviews where did that, I think people could probably get some useful tips from it and I think it would be a great way to encourage people to experiment around with their sets. That, and I just want to see what they'd look like.
This is making me want to buy like three or four of these sets and maybe a couple of the new space station ones and combine them into one big awesome space base, just like when I was a kid.
This is a really fun play set. In particular, the variable-angle hatch is quite neat despite showing gaps, and the amount of play space offered by the garage is generous. The one thing that bugs me the most though - more so than some of the weird vehicles - is the garage has no door but its connected to open corridors to the interior of the modules, which I thought would've been pointed out 😂
The two big retailers in Australia, Kmart and Big W (probably equivalent to your Walmart) have priced this set immediately at $140 each, $20 less that the RRP that Lego themselves sell it at. And then they both will have their own sales from time to time to make these things cheaper.
I actually think you get alot for this set. Any time you have new molded pieces as well at the translucent color the price will go up. also this set has a bunch of very specialized pieces and if you know anything about injection plastic molds, the more intricate the mold, the more you have to design your molding machine around making sure that piece comes out correctly. I am impressed with all the small builds that come come with this. I dont ever remember a time until the last few years whenever you would get a space base set that was enclosed on every side. also these are EXTREMELY good pieces to have for any MOC build, especially anything cyberpunk related
I've just bought it along with the newest lunar vehicle and orbital station! But I didn't dare to build them before their Janbrick's inspirational reviews :) Best regards and greetings from Italy!
I agree that looks more like $100 to me. I lovelovelove that Lego is using the classic space logo in some variation with this series! That geode also looks very nice. Thanks for the review!
Weird seeing the newer metal detector, they actually took studs off it. Chris Hadfield Lego!! You know it's him! Wait for the 25% off sale, might as well expect that as the norm.
Those great big transparent dome pieces used in this set reminds me of the early 90s Space bases (and craft), when there was always large transparent canopies and doors. Aquazone had pieces like that in it too.
Ahhh! Good old Lego Space sets! Aside from Fireman sets, this is also one of my favorite theme in Lego! This one is pretty cool and it's got some play value of course, can't wait to see the other sets from the same theme, to see how well they go together, thanks for the review of course, Jang!
Yeah logo is on another level with customer service there parts replacement is so easy just put the set number in and find the part and a week or two there it is
absolutely love the city space sets, have all of the mars ones apart from the rocket assembly and the rover testing drive, and only need to get the SLS rocket to finish this collection now too
In my country it costs about $100 retail, but if you're patient and wait just one month it will settle on $70 (like every other sets on same price range). Anyway, great set and review, as always.
I like this set a lot and compared to recent City town sets and the new pieces included, I think the price is acceptable, especially in EUR. What I would like now is a LEGO Artemis rocket in 1:100 scale. It's been a while since the Saturn V.
I actually wasn't a fan of this because I thought the overall size and shape was a little underwhelming (also though it looks like what it's inspired by I don't like the "ears" on the rocket). However now I have seen the back and how it all fits together i have a solution I think would make me happy. I would get two. Connect them together, and then swap one set of beds in the dome with the garden so one dome has all the garden and one dome has all the beds.
I hope we will get many different transparent color for the dome piece... Like this, we will assist to the return of the mega core magnetizer army in each of the available color scheme! XD
Thanks again, Jang! Maybe, the Thingy is the moon version of the Mouse Droid? Cool Figs, helmets, and dome. Wish the rover was included (because of base-connet and more ground action) instead of the ferry. And then a set with a shuttle and landing pad, that also connect to the base-gangway.
Wow, what a glorious looking playset! Makes me wish I hadn't gotten into the Arctic and Deep Sea themes circa 2014! This is just amazing! Hindsight is 20-20 of course, but I just can't afford these big City sets anymore and it fills me with regret. I just have to add, though, with all the carjackings lately, I think it's extremely questionable for them to not be able to lock the lunar buggy in the garage at night...
seem to remember the old metal detector had a stud on top of the detector "blade", but a nice flashback anyway. Would have loved for Lego to continue with the same space suits as the former Space sets they released to better use them all together, but the new suits do look good.
hey JANG. I was luck to find this in a store here in NZ, i paid $145nzd and was so happy to see the classic space logo, a nice surprise as i had only seen a couple of pics. It was the only set there and cant wait for the rover, the biggest set is $250nzd so hope to layby that.
Speaking on modifications, it looks like the end parts could be modified into having another hallway around the back, making something of a Y junction for more modulars to be added. I think this is actually a very interesting setup, and perhaps more space-themed builds could incorporate more modules to attach to the base to give it more overall appeal. as is, the selection seems quite nice, though as you said a bit too pricy for most impulse buys at least.
Given the parts count, new parts, new prints, and the amount of things to play with $120USD is about right in todays market. Since you don't know. Action figures are seeing a $3-4 mark up this year alone and that's on the low end for just Mattel WWE figures so you should be happy that Lego hasn't gone up that much. By the way, I don't it was cheap getting those huge translucent panels designed and get the moulds cast. It's also not like they're going to be used a lot.
That lander actually does look quite a bit like lunar starship. The scale is off, but it is roughly to scale with the SLS style rocket from a couple of years ago.
Chima crystal in the garden may awkwardly represent a watering sprinkler (very bad idea and highly unlikely for low grav ... they'd surely use a below-surface drip system).
Sleeping quarters in that same room isn't the best idea either. You'd have to sleep in either a lit room, or in the dark while plants produce CO2...
I thought fountain when I first saw the crystal, but then I was like nah its placement is weird for a space habitat
@@astromus plants actually produce O2 [oxygen] for us to breathe. When we exhale we produce CO2 [carbon dioxide] which plants processes back in to O2. They're able to trap the carbon and use it to further grow while releasing more breathable oxygen for us. Plants are homies!

I love that they're basing this series on real-world concept designs! It's important to get kids interested in real science, not just sci-fi.
I haven't bought a large city set in many years but this one I might actually get. Looks awesome, and I have a weakness for space sets. Already got the rover, this goes well along with it.
Man, THIS IS WHAT SPACE SETS SHOULD BE!
I can speak from personal experience that Lego Space sets inspire future engineers. I'm a judge for the FIRST Lego League, and also interview high school students applying for scholarships. Wow, this brings up nostalgic feelings of old space base sets!
I like the fact they actually designed this set to work with others. The flame from the rocket is cool, but it's a shame it comes at the cost of unusable space. Thanks, JANG.
It's probably not advisable to be opening fuel tanks, so I'll give Lego a pass on that one ;)
I remember having one of the rock raider boulders as a kid and loving opening it up to find a crystal or hide stuff, these new boulders look so cool
This almost seems like a must have for Lego space fans. Seeing how complete it is from the back, all the shiny new pieces, all the classic space logos and related pieces, I really don't think it's THAT overpriced. $110 would have been fine to me. Maybe it's a little smaller than I realize though.

I see this set as the ultimate parts pack. Will probably get it on sale.
I love the white and blue EVA suits. I need this set! Let's be honest... I need every single one of these space sets. Well done lego!
I particularly like the dome and the giant geode!
Costco is selling this set for 100$ online right now, along with similar discounts for the other large/expensive new space sets.
Thank you!
13:02 transparent canopy piece (with paint apps) may work for a mid scale Millennium Falcon.

This is how all buildings must be from now on, fully enclosed spaces that allow us to use them for our Cities.
Except this is in outer space lol

Omg as soon as he pulled the rocket out, the cockpit piece immediately reminded me of the original cockpit piece for the Millennium Falcon
This is making me want to buy like three or four of these sets and maybe a couple of the new space station ones and combine them into one big awesome space base, just like when I was a kid.
Bring back the moon surface base plates! Can you imagine a huge moon landscape layout? Inspiring video, Jang. Thanks!
I love how their logo is an update of the Futuron one from Classic Space.
This is a really fun play set. In particular, the variable-angle hatch is quite neat despite showing gaps, and the amount of play space offered by the garage is generous. This is possibly my favorite set of all time. This thing is absolutely next level.

This is the set that brought me back to Lego after decades.

Can’t wait to see how the space station connects to this.
Nice, the whole thing is fully enclosed, now I really want this one!
I've just bought it along with the newest lunar vehicle and orbital station! But I didn't dare to build them before their Janbrick's inspirational reviews :)
Best regards and greetings from Italy!
15:29 THE money shot of the set, look at that mouthwatering crystal there hmm
Just got this set along with my brother in law as well. Looking forward to building this one!!
Dude, the fire extension out of the rocket is rad! I'd love that as a kid
I agree that looks more like $100 to me. I lovelovelove that Lego is using the classic space logo in some variation with this series! That geode also looks very nice. Thanks for the review!
The figure with the moustache reminds me of the Canadian Astronaut Chris Hadfield. I wonder if it was deliberate?
I can't wait for the Artemis missions. The moon has been left alone for too long.
The living quarters bubble could have done with an airlock. I like it though, the space station as well
Yeah. How are minifigs meant to access it, without evacuating all the air in it ?
Nice review! This is a nice set!
Weird seeing the newer metal detector, they actually took studs off it. Chris Hadfield Lego!! You know it's him! Wait for the 25% off sale, might as well expect that as the norm.
That dual molded geode piece is so cool. Hope we get it in a cheaper set sometime!
The classic lego space logo's, the nostalgia is great!
13:03 That piece is the perfect shape for Millenium Falcon cockpit
Wish there was a ladder to the habitation bubble
I haven't seen a space set that looked this nice since that nasa line
bought it for my daughter, not opened yet but I'm already excited. :D
Those great big transparent dome pieces used in this set reminds me of the early 90s Space bases (and craft), when there was always large transparent canopies and doors. Aquazone had pieces like that in it too.
*I really love this set, Space bases with giant windows are really cool, just like the 90s sets, they needed to comeback!!!!!!!! :D*
Ahhh! Good old Lego Space sets! Aside from Fireman sets, this is also one of my favorite theme in Lego! This one is pretty cool and it's got some play value of course, can't wait to see the other sets from the same theme, to see how well they go together, thanks for the review of course, Jang!
such a cool set! Feels quite expensive though... but larger than I expected from the official pics. great review as always Jang!
Yeah logo is on another level with customer service there parts replacement is so easy just put the set number in and find the part and a week or two there it is
Love that you have a Halo Spartan on your table!
absolutely love the city space sets, have all of the mars ones apart from the rocket assembly and the rover testing drive, and only need to get the SLS rocket to finish this collection now too
i got this one for £65, which i think is a very good price for this set
In my country it costs about $100 retail, but if you're patient and wait just one month it will settle on $70 (like every other sets on same price range).
Anyway, great set and review, as always.
Wow that looks awesome. I’m imagining it could double as some type of kamino cloning facility for my Star Wars world building
I like this series. I recently got the Rocket Launcher center and love it. Lots of play features and fits well in my Lego city.
Top Access to the habitats are better for play compared to the previous sets. 🤗
Picked this up last night for 65.00 clearance.
The key to Legos are hunt clearances! Huge savings can be had.
it looks fun i have never had a space set i think this might be my first
we need those dome pieces in grey or white.
I wonder what it'll look like when the other space sets' module are added onto this base.
Somehow I am bothered by the missing garage door. I'd also have liked to have a manhole, to connect the dome and the garage.
I like this set a lot and compared to recent City town sets and the new pieces included, I think the price is acceptable, especially in EUR. What I would like now is a LEGO Artemis rocket in 1:100 scale. It's been a while since the Saturn V.
I picked this one up on sale here in Australia for 80AUD. glad I spotted the sale.
14:30 we need a working Ideas or CE claw machine! One filled with Minifigs, or LGM, or Minifig LGM!
The mustached space man looks JUST like Canadian astronaut Chris Hadfield! I love that guy!

I would get two.
Connect them together, and then swap one set of beds in the dome with the garden so one dome has all the garden and one dome has all the beds.
That dual-molded bolder piece is giving me false hope that power miners will come back some day... a man can dream
I hope we will get many different transparent color for the dome piece... Like this, we will assist to the return of the mega core magnetizer army in each of the available color scheme! XD
Love this set when u reveal it , thank god u told me , now i changing my birthday gift
This is a dream, but it's almost twice the price it should be. I just can't justify paying anything above $80 for this, let alone $120.
great info in this review as always Mr Jang
Thanks again, Jang!
Maybe, the Thingy is the moon version of the Mouse Droid?
Cool Figs, helmets, and dome.
Wish the rover was included (because of base-connet and more ground action) instead of the ferry.
And then a set with a shuttle and landing pad, that also connect to the base-gangway.
Wow, what a glorious looking playset! Makes me wish I hadn't gotten into the Arctic and Deep Sea themes circa 2014! This is just amazing! I just have to add, though, with all the carjackings lately, I think it's extremely questionable for them to not be able to lock the lunar buggy in the garage at night...
I bought most of the last wave but I never build most of it and it's all still boxed.
Not much of a City Space or City Ice sets however, this looks like a must get. It will probably sit on my shelf next to my city😄✌️
Nice jang!
This set looks great on 4 old school lunar crater baseplates!
That geode would have gone so well with all the old mining/underground themes lego has had.
Great review as usual! as for set - I am just lacking garage door.... with door it would be perfect!
Thank you for your detailed review. Great job!
Space ship builders are going to have fun with those domes 😎
Cool set! Thanks for review! 😊
I see some gundam in the back 👀
seem to remember the old metal detector had a stud on top of the detector "blade", but a nice flashback anyway. Would have loved for Lego to continue with the same space suits as the former Space sets they released to better use them all together, but the new suits do look good.
This set is really cool
I feel like those canopy parts on the lander will show up on the next millennium falcon they make
I want to eat those boulder geode pieces, I'm sorry Jang
hey JANG. I was luck to find this in a store here in NZ, i paid $145nzd and was so happy to see the classic space logo, a nice surprise as i had only seen a couple of pics. It was the only set there and cant wait for the rover, the biggest set is $250nzd so hope to layby that.
Im going to buy two and connect them together like the previous station set where i also put two sets together
I might get my dad to get this but I like the fire and police themes better cause they have interesting figures, play features, and pieces

Very good city space set. Will definitely pick one up around that $100.
There’s about $70 worth of stuffs there at most.
Really like the main base and the playability!
Looks like a classic space set!
This costs $119 Australian at Kmart. That is incredible 👍
That lander actually does look quite a bit like lunar starship. The scale is off, but it is roughly to scale with the SLS style rocket from a couple of years ago.
