I drove past that scene (7:03) at the charging station and thought "who the heck parks like that?", then I saw the bike and the beanie and decided all was good.
Oh nice! Haha we got really lucky that so many spots were available, but I found out the station at Moore Wilsons has the BEST space for pulling in sideways with a trailer.
I got the same setup as you. I upgraded the rear shock with the ohlins. Only energica had them. About $900. Made a HUGE difference. Definitely recommend.
Ohlins for sure 👍🏼 and maybe a pair of lighter magnesium wheels? 🤔 Can’t hurt! (Oh, and an EcoFlow Delta Pro Ultra in the Tesla to top off between runs!⚡️)
Gotta say, the balls - and skills - required to take those corners at speed on a road like that is truly awe-inspiring. Hope your friend, and everyone else who raced, are okay.
Incredible riding. Those close calls on the corners had me on the edge of my seat. Hopefully everything is kosher, definitely a cliffhanger. I'm bummed that we didn't get to see you on the course!
Hey I've run into that issue with Tesla chargers before, turns out it's usually a grounding issue! If there's some way you can ground the generator it might work for ya!
Exactly. There's a guy who built an adapter to trick the Tesla charger to work off a generator. But probably best just to get a dumber Non-tesla charger.
@@NewZeroland you can't get the one with the big reservoir on the side as it wont fit on the Ribelle, only the Ego. The standard one they make fits perfectly on the Ribelle. Awesome stuff, it's like you need to tune it down 10% to make it last. Too fast/ then not fast enough - just want it just fast all the time 😂. Was it maybe a temp issue 🤔

Very Cool. Think a visit to KSS in New Plymouth would be worthwhile to get a decent suspension set up. Done three of my bikes, ya go from bumpity bump to zippity zip zip with a shed load more control, comfort and handling (for road, track and touring as fully adjustable). Hope all is OK and just a battery cut out, not the 'other'.
Not related to this video at all, but I have nowhere else to turn. My 2017 Zero SR is in need of new tires. The stock tires are Pirelli Diablo Rosso IIs.... 3" front (110/70-17), and 3.5" rear (140/70-17). As I use the bike 100% for commuting, and my local roads are crap... I'm wondering if going with larger tires front and rear would make sense? I'm looking at the Michelin "Road 6" tires, as they seem to be the "it" tires for sport touring (which I equate to good 'around town tires' vs. the stock 'track-ish' tires.). As for "nowhere else to turn", I reached out to Zeor directly and all the could say was "we can't comment on any other tire but the stock tire". Dissapointing. My local Zero dealer is zero help. So I thought I'd ask here, to see if NewZeroland had any thougts on wider tires for an SR, or if anyone could recommend a great 'city tire' for my new rubber. Thanks...!!!
Man that's a tough one.. I've seen people run 150's on the back, but that's about as wide as you can go without hitting the belt. Michelin Road 6 tires are great and last way longer. I approve of this idea!
@@NewZeroland Not only was this response done quicker than BOTH Zero direct, and my Zero dealer - it actually had useful information. It's just too bad I live an ocean away, otherwise I'd buy NewZeroland the beer he deserves....
Charging on Gen: The EV charger checks for an Earth (PE) - Neutral (N) link. This is usually done in your switch board. That mean the Gen does not have that link. Solution is to make up a special cable where Neutral and Earth are connected (only to be used for this application) and Bob is your uncle. Solution 2: Get a Juice Booster Type 2 charger. Those come with a Norway mode, where no PE-N link is required.
Hope driver’s ok. What I hear about power loss, could that be related to bus bar issues in the battery? My mid 21 RS needed those replaced: DC issues and power loss. Keep up the good work!
My SS9 had pretty much no rear rebound from the factory, but I had the adjustable shock and was able to dial it up - much better ride, more controllable.
Exciting. Generators are pretty much only good for the tire warmers. Looks like it'd be a fun course mostly straight as I notice the bike wasn't even leaning much. That is the biggest challenge I've found with electrics is they cheap out on the suspension so much and it's so hard to overcome the immense weight still.
@mt-10ofnz60 I see that, but even though you'd normally be turning through those corners there are a couple of areas where a bike on a closed road turns them into a high speed straight (e.g. 10:02-10:25) is what I'm talking about. Looked like about 18 major corners (I know officially there's more) in the video you posted of your run. We've got some pretty awesome climbs up the mountains around here that look similar (more like 60km long), but we usually put our bikes down to about 45º more like you do. I really wouldn't want to be on my Energica at much more than 30º though, so I think that's definitely what's holding it back the most.
Honestly, the only straight bit is up to turn 2. The gopro makes everything look wider. Here's the fastest run ever up the Cliffhanger ua-cam.com/video/KubGVzd64rg/v-deo.html

mmh on the full run way up engine light was on and TC red led indication stayed on on the straights, which usually does not happen on TC2, weird. Hope the bike and the rider are ok
The Tesla charger didn't work because the generator has a floating ground. They make a little plug you can get from Amazon or wherever that you can plug into a different outlet on the generator and it will tie the ground and neutral together which will make the charger happy.
Dang nabit, you and cliffhangers. Okay, done some stupid stuff but watching that run was thinking that is ballsey and crazy fast for the road. Hope with your cliff hanger nothing happened to your friend or the bike like a crash.
I think the issue is you need a special adapter plug to fool the Tesla charge cable to think it's plugged into a grounded outlet - without that charging won't work from a generator.
