To be honest, if the luck potion "revamp" is supposed to make sunken extremely rare, then just wipe all of it when this come out (just like when scales was wiped), guess it'll be fair enough for everyone. Alright, the serious take here is, Vetex just say that he want to focus on PvE aspects of the game (which I'm okay with it) but some of the changes including this revamp literally wreck that point, and the future aspect is far from release. So, what did Vetex try to achieve right now? I can't understand him, and if this keep happening, I'm not sure about the future of this game. I duuno which will happen first between full aspect release, or AO turn into dead game.
Do note that your calculated chances of sunken are specifically for getting ONE sunken piece, and only ONE sunken piece, you also have a chance of getting 2, or 3 sunken pieces.
odds of success are not tripled on luck 5, odds of failure are cubed suppose you have a 1/100 drop. on luck 5 your chances of NOT getting that drop are 99/100 x 99/100 x 99/100, or (0.99)^3 so then that means the odds of successfully getting the item are 1 - (0.99)^3 or about 2.9%. 3% is a very close estimate, just not the right math (and the difference becomes way more obvious if you were to open say, 30 chests on luck 5, where your odds of success are only 59.5%, as opposed to the projected 90%)
this is like the main issue I have with the pve of the game Vetex just went on that whole thing in the pvp but now of the few things that we can do in pve that are actually worth it just get gutted luck parties, gone, deep dark sea exploration, good luck, trading yeah those sunken prices gonna skyrocket can't wait to sell my firstborn for a SI helm, I just got the motivation to try to get my sunken sword that I lost in the weapon wipe back I have spent a couple days fishing now just trying to get it I've gotten 2 sunken iron helms and one legendary fish which is already a lot better than my last attempt considering these are the first non pity pieces I've gotten and I have over 12k fish caught across all my characters and also this is my 2nd legendary fish since I got my first one around when the game released luck has not been on my side and I've been trying to avoid the cheesy stuff but now I don't really get an option
Reiterating something I said in one of Jonesloto's recent community posts for sunken chances with these new rates: - Sunken items have a natural rate of 1/2000 to pull any item from the pool, with 3000 fish caught being the pity range. - Pre-rework, luck increased drop odds by about 90%, resulting in a 1/200 drop chance instead of a 1/2000 drop chance during a luck party scenario. - Post-rework, the luck odds are equivalent to 3/2000 with Luck V, which equates to about 1/666.666... In other words, Luck allows you to effectively pull three pieces of fishing loot at once with max tier, and sunken treasure drop chances are statistically about ~3 times rarer than they were pre-rework. However, they have also buffed the natural drop chances of all scroll varieties in Dark Sealed Chest pools, meaning (in spite of the invisibility nerf, which no longer makes cheesing Insanity 5 ranges possible) you can still get enormous value from just visiting Insanity 1. From Vetex's own words, Insanity 1 is the only part of the Dark Sea that is appropriately scaled, and Insanity 2 is more than likely scaled for the end of Nimbus (which may become a trend, with being fully equipped to enter the Far Reaches at the end of the Vimir Sea and reach Insanity 4 at the end of the Aegean Sea). In other words, the way we were doing expeditions into the Dark Sea before was essentially an 'unintended' way of farming it. Now, we are not only doing expeditions as Vetex intended, but getting rewarded significantly more than we currently are for visiting Insanity 1 (Most people skipped it due to the chest rates being abysmal and dark sealeds needing to be collected en masse to get the most value - luck potions now let you get much more stuff for a lot less sealeds collected). To skip the yap - sunken odds are slightly nerfed compared to OG Luck 5, but dark sealed chests now give MUCH more for a lot less work. Tier 2 enchantment scrolls are now a LOT less stupid to get and it makes finalizing your builds a lot less tedious and boring in the endgame (which, the dark sea in it's current state lost all of its horror and entertainment factor due to the invisibility cheese, in my opinion). That being said, this will also raise the value of sunken gear much more than previous, meaning we will have to depend on pity a lot more... Perhaps this update we'll get some sort of new fishing rod that can cast multiple lines at once to expedite the process? Who the hell knows.
Another small addendum relating to the Collector's Rod - the odds of getting an item from the fishing pool instead of a fish is affected by Item Chance as well, meaning that a Treasurer enchanted Collector's Rod will be pulling items all the time in spite of it's slower lure rate (The lure multiplier affects the time between you casting and you getting something on your hook, the math is on the AO fandom wiki). Luck 5 paired with a 'god rod' for specifically item fishing would likely be able to acquire a sunken over the course of a few days of on-and-off fishing.
first of all, thanks for the godlike explanation, second wdym dark sealed chests will give more exotics? also wdym by vetex will make layer 1 easier? like how exactly or he just said he would do those things
@@essecara6773 Exotics as in Dark Sea exclusive enchantment scrolls like Virtuous, Powerful, Armored, etc. will all have boosted odds from chests thanks to a combination of the luck rework and also some under-the-hood tweaks to dark sealeds in general (You can find these in the patch notes relating to the luck rework if you do a bit of digging). Layer 1 isn't getting any easier in a traditional sense, but it's cutting out the tedium and making it so Layer 1 (Insanity 1 specifically) functions as intended as the soft limit of how far you can go with a reasonable chance of survival (The semi-enforced level requirement based off of wiki diving is around 125, which is Bronze Sea endgame and earlygame Nimbus Sea, meaning that endgame Nimbus will open the door to a lot more content in the later layers.
First invisible potions get ruined now this? I regret getting max potions now. If he ruins gel, there will be no reason to be a perfect potion crafter now
Why did vetex do this? The sunken gear is basically impossible to get, luck pots and grinding brewing skill was suppose to solve that, but he made it impossible again? I've maxed 3 characters and never even tried to get sunken gear, it just hardly seems worth it spending days fishing.
Yeah vetex lock the best armor set behind fishing and trading, im just gonna play the long game of waiting a worthy armor set that rivals sunkens stats and do with the bare mininum dark bronze set
@clayel1 I also disagree with tht because items that give you a competitive edge should not have an extreme drop rate. If sunkens were COSMETIC that would be fine. But most good builds are gatekept behind sunkens or modifiers.
Oh wow, so the chances of getting something is the same. But you roll that chance 3 times. So luck is complete dogshit now. This is extremely overpowered. But only when the chance of obtaining said item is already high. If the probability of getting a sunken item was 5%, then this would be busted. But if the probability is 0.5%.
