    Monty is a good even sublime player but he is not a good speaker!!

    Monty got chubby here, didn't he? Monty can play but his theories about African and Caribbean backgrounds and their effect on swinging are baloney IMO. If he stayed in Jamaica and never came to US he could have never been the jazz player he has become. Ray Brown and Milt Jackson largely made him real jazzman, rather than gifted amateur from Jamaica.
