In the 70+ years I've been bowling and following the game (pre-dating the PBA!), I've noticed something. The great ones (and you obviously are one) seem to, in many cases, have a year or two in their late 30s where they drop off a bit and then in their 40s come back with a vengeance. Bowling seems to be unique that way. You've a lot of podiums upon which you'll yet stand.

You have absolutely not peaked. I believe those that are best at anything they do such as sports, work, list goes on. These thing's always have a roller coaster type effect. In your case, you have taken your lumps. Won, won and won some more. Built a business while having a family all those things have to be taken in account while on the tour. You have a few more in you ! Thank you for visiting the members at the DAC. we appreciate you. 😊

I started bowling two handed when Belmo showed up in the US tournament many years ago. The power and options of two handed bowling was incredible. But as with Belmo there were so many angry one handed bowlers in leagues and tournament I played in. Now there are lot less complaints. I am now 70 years old. Yes it’s more challenging physically but the power and the options of delivery far exceed one handed older players. In senior leagues I bowl in you don’t see two handed players. Many seniors have found that you can’t compete with two handed bowler. I believe Belmo will be still competing in his late years. The physical demand really keeps you fit.

Very informative. At 66, getting my mental and physical game to match up at the same time can be a challenge. I used to get down on myself but now just know there are both good and bad days, so there is always another day, another game and another frame. Don't worry...bowl happy! 😁

talking about age and 2 handed bowling. I got into the sport about 6 months (FEB/2024) ago bowling one handed and I'm 64. I'm writing this comment on 8/24. I've always been invloved in some sort of sport competitively all my life. I was having trouble getting revs one handed and I decied to try two handed. So I watched some on your videos to get some sort of idea of the approach. My average went from 154 to 169 in just a few weeks. It's easier on the hand but it does take a bit more out of my body plus I have some old back injuries that flare up but it looks like I'm going to stick with 2 hands. Can't wait to finally get an average around 200 or higher. Thanks for the video!!

Jason I have a question? I’m 63. I’ve been a one handed bowler all my life. Do you think it’s possible to switch to two handed or would I be flogging a dead horse lol. The rev rate you are able to achieve is truly amazing to me. I bowled a lot for ten years when I was younger. I was averaging 210 across all my leagues. I stopped bowling for almost thirty years and just came back to it. I absolutely love it but it does frustrate the hell out of me at times. I’m looking for ways to bowl longer and smarter. Your input would be appreciated and fantastic. Thank you so much.

Have you ever bowled at that gigantic place in Japan, 116 lanes? I think it’s called inazawa grand bowl. I noticed in Japan house shots seem drier. In the USA if it’s an urban center they tend to use more oil on house shot, if it’s rural bone dry! That’s the only countries I’ve bowled in.

Most athletes lose a little to the younger guys once they hit 40, but Belmo was so much better than the field he can still compete. Still, he taught a lot of young bowlers to go two handed and the field is leveling up pretty fast. I hope that makes him wiser and more fiercely competitive. All high performers run the race of mental strength vs. time.

  • @ravehop

Belmos got the heart of a lion🦁 he’s right there all the time the difference between winning it all and not is a few pins against the best and on any given day anyone of the ten best in the PBA can get hot and win but to be there all the time like Belmo has been and remains to be with this level of play shows he stays hot and when he’s on fire he’s unstoppable, people think if he doesn’t get first it’s a sign he’s not the same but it’s never been like that in bowling because when anyone of the best has the hot hand they will be so good but there always right there. Can’t wait to watch him continue to cook and the legacy is amazing most prolific bowler to have ever lived 🎉 50 years from now most of the other guys will maybe get a mention here or there but not belmo, no legends never die and he is the icon of the sport and an excellent ambassador

  • @tomwujek4867

I don't think Belmo has peaked yet. A big difference compared to 10 years ago is that Belmo raised the bar so high for the tour that the newer bowlers coming out have had to elevate their games to be able to compete. It's actually a good thing because now there is even more talent compared to what used to be out there. It's not just the PBA tour either. College bowling and youth bowling have so much more talent now also. This means the sport is going to grow and we're going to see more and more great bowlers going forward.
WRWJ's 47 titles could be matched or surpassed by Belmo by the time all is said and done.

Allow me to share my observations between your game today and that of your undivided domination.
Looking at you in your tracks, compiled by the OneHandedBowling youtube channel, and your performances in the 2024 majors there is a striking difference.
Before you had your right arm going higher and less to the left. You had your ball in your hand longer.
You had more power than any other player. You were impressive and your opponents were already losing before playing.
    You guys were scary.
Today you are accessible for a very good pro player. I’m talking about those who are below Tackett, Simonsen, Troup...
You were also hungrier than today, in appearance, you were sharper, more focused.
Today you seem frustrated, in full doubt. In a word prenatable.
I would be very happy if my vision can bring you something so that you come back to be the greatest of the greatest.
    Sincerely.

He mentioned the stress on joints, etc. For one-handers, the delivery arm takes all the stress going up, then down. For two-handers, the ball is partially held by the off hand lowering the weight stress on the shot making hand/arm which is curled up (usually), lessening angular momentum caused virtual weight on the arm/hand.
Then comes the release. The arm is naturally curled to some degree, shortening the travel arc, increasing the velocity. The ball, already curled up in the hand and partially supported by the other hand, can move out faster and with more rotational velocity because the fingers remain in the holes fractionally longer and covering more rotational angle before departing the ball. Of course, to maintain the ease of the ball's swing/release, the body has to be at an angle to one side so as not to impede the swing, which puts torsion on the back and abdomen. There's more muscles there to cusion the stresses involved in the positioning, so on the whole, there appears to be a net gain in stress reduction.
