You would think the technology has caught up by now that they could start lowering prices on things, like when LED tv's came out. I wish you went a little into detail. Is the fan quit? The arm doesn't look ajustable. Comes with or without ceiling kit, price? Went into the app settings. What's different or change from their other light fixture. Are they good fo sps. Thanks for sharing

I think you did a better job on this light then BRS video love how you compared the light side by side and showed the difference between the prime 16 the price of the light I thought was crazy but now I seen how much better the light is I see why thx for a great review on this light
I agree with u Vincent. It almost seemed as though BRS didn’t like it enough to put the effort into it. I have the AP9X and love it. It replaced a G5 XR30 Pro I just wasn’t happy with the appearance in the tank.

Had this light for a while now. It works great. Only problem is i have to rescan the qr code everytime i want to change settings instead of just going into the app. Is there a way to fix this? Am i not doing something right?

I have an IM 25 shallow Lagoon but an hoping to get an SR-80 or SR 120 later down the road I only have one AI print right now but wanted to fix the shadows and didn't want to just get another prime and future proof things. So I was thinking of getting one ap9x to start and if I had to just hang it really high over the larger tank later. I'm doing a mixed reef so don't need tons of PAR especially because the tank is so shallow I'd likely need to leave things on a lower wattage/setting as even with the prime I'm not anywhere near max. I used to have a 360W and loved it and became a kessil fan and would love to jump back in but the price point at around 1200$ before tax (or more like 1500 with mounting) in Canada right now is making it hard to justify. I would do two 360x but I like having on board wifi etc and think the one fixture is the way to go. The pucks seem more spread out vs radeons or hydras too. I might have a chance to go for a used xr30 gen 4 but the shadowing would still be an issue with one fixture. What would you do?

Cheap Chinese LEDs last about 1-3 years depending on the brand and how you drive them, they are notoriously bad value and ZERO customer support like warranty or repairs after 90 days
@@ReefBuildersVideo I can't comment on all brands, etc. but I have 4 Viaspectra reef lights on a 6ft tank now for 3+ years and have not had a single issue with any of them. They cost $150 each so if one were to go bad, I really wouldn't mind so much and just replace it. Obviously I can't say if they all wind up dying on me in the near future but they are all still functioning like the day I got them.

I am surprised that the new iteration of the AP700 doesn't include diffuse lighting beyond the dense led matrix. With so many people getting T5's to suplement the kessils, it would be expected they got the cue by now. I have 2 chinese clones of the AP700 (they cost about the same or more!) and they were smart enough to include diffuse led lighting in the fixture and make it a device that actually looks good above the tank.
Do you like these lights for Acro dominant tanks? I know they look great under the Kessil but we just don’t get the growth we do from ReefBrite and Ecotech... who built the aquarium you are putting the AP9x on? I want to get a 50 gallon cube...
Why even make this? The 700 was a big bomb so maybe they are trying to redem themselves! I do like the fact that the shimmer isnt overwhelming like the x Maybe because of 2 lens but the x would give me a big fat headache! After watching this through I actually love it! Might buy one. i love the bigge r size as well! Do you have to pay for wifi or a way to program it?
Can you show how you mounted it on the external overflow or tips on installing it I have a 75 gallon ext, but I just don't feel safe mounting it on the box overtime.
Any chance you can do a thorough walk through on how to use the kessil app for these lights... their preset stuff is nice but man making your own settings is ridiculously hard
With my waterbox frag tank, the overflow is built dead center inside the tank. How can I mount the AP9X without having to put it inside the interior overflow box? I'm having a lot of trouble doing this. I also bought the ap700 mount brackets but they don't fit because of the overflow. Please help
Come on leds have been out for years and we are still seeing ridiculous prices! And I have friends using the China vipraspectra light with really good results for way cheaper price. $119 But I’m still sticking with my halides and t5s and have ridiculous growth.

I'm sure at around the 8:30 mark this is the camera doing it, but man that 360x glitter lines is quite painful to look at. Also that power, are they overdriving when other colors are underdriven or are the lights a mix of various other led groupings, because 50w purple, 18w red, 20w green, 160w blue, 110w white = way more watts than is advertised.

Sorry I already erased it and reprogrammed it for something else, but basically I do a baseline of blue for 10 hours and a pyramid of white (with touch of red & green) for 4 to 6 hours
Ap9x is better than ap700 or not, by which way? These days is confused about this and don’t know which to buy. Most of my reef is soft one for I just got 1 years experience about the reef.

My first saltwater aquarium. I have a 7foot 265 gallon with a canopy. Kessil or radion would you recommend.

Hy reef builders Please it is possible to compare the two less, Kessil AP9X and Hydra 64 HD? Why does hydra seem to have more intensity?
Hydra uses lenses on each LED and each cluster is closer together while AP9X uses a single reflector and they are more spread out

Cost really is not that different than buying two A360X and then you’d also have to buy a dongle for WiFi - so its a push

Yes for sure the power gets redistributed as you make adjustments to the color channels

Answer: Not with the single mount.. You have to get the extension mount kit and two arm mounts.
