In my personal opinion as a gardener, there is a misunderstanding between an "electric weed killer" and a "gas weed burner". Even though alot of company's advertise their electric variant as a burner... An electric "burner" is based on the "thermal shock" effect, whereas gas burners have the purpose of burning away the foiliage. Also, an electric burner shouldn't be placed on the weed for more than a few seconds, killing it off in the next couple of days/weeks. The cardboard test is pretty obvious as we are talking about 600°C vs 1200~ish °C with a present flame. I use both, depending on the situation :D Great article nontheless! Love your website!
wrong, even the gas burner is not supposed to be burning the weed entirely. If you do, you dont kill it. You scorch with all three typs and that damages the cells and the toxins from the scorching goes into the roots. If you just burn the top away, the root will recover.
Unless you have good reason to, you don't have to set fire to the weeds. Simply heat the base of them for a few seconds to let them wilt. They will die. Takes far far less time and uses a quarter of the gas.
Not all weeds. I torched the heck out of a weed ridden garden and had the base of the plant glowing orange, and it still didn't kill them. A week later, I was torching them again. Last year i killed all the small weeds in an interlock path and they didn't come back. It is faster and better looking to torch them to dust and sweep away the ashes.
you need to denature the proteins in the root structure to actually kill the weed. some weeds have deep root systems and this will not work on those. this is basically weed whacking down to the soil level with actual fire in the gas one or hot air in the case of the fancy hairdryer on a pole one...
@@senaycaliskan8909 gas is better for big areas, but electric works just fine and is safer and cheaper. All comes down to preference. Want to carry a tiny bottle and replace every 20min, want to drag a big bottle and be able to scorch for hours or want to save money and only have a small area and dont mind the cable.
Was considering getting an electric weed burner so I didn't have to keep buying replacement canisters. don't think I will bother since it just acts like an oversized hairdryer.
You are holding the electirc one way too far away. The end is 5cm heatshield before the heat gun. So put the heat shield on the weed and wait 2+ sec and viola. Just like the start when card board catches fire when you actually use the gun right. Used mine for 4 years now and it's safer than the gas ones and just as effective. And since gas prices are mental, electric is also cheaper here.
and if you dont sufficiently heat the actual root system (denaturing plant proteins in the root structure effectively killing the plant) it will return again just like weeds that return annually. vegetative growth dies off in the winter, spring thaw brings with it new growth... you are basically cutting the weed dow to the soil. or in the case of these devices burning the plant down to the soil...

I didn't understand..which iss better is it electric one or gas one ?

The electric one is like an oversized heat gun. I think it's purpose is for a slow death to the weed rather than instant. Torch burner is my favourite

I bought an electric heat garden wand at lidl brought it back as it was totally useless , you'd get far more pleasure pulling the weeds out by hand .

Just use it right and put it closer to the weed like the manual says and not 10cm away like the doofus in the video
Thanks this is very helpful, the electric one seems a little useless - I think the weeds here would just fetch a sun lounger and enjoy it.
That electric one gave the weeds a nice blow dry, might as well use a hairdryer.
The gas weed burner looks like the flamethrower of the pyro from tf2
The fuel based torch was MUCH better than that wimpy "Prius" version. Goes to show, not EVERYTHING should be electric.

Thank you!!!
Guessing it's somewhat therapeutic to kill the weeds with fire....
Faster to just pull them
Id put that electric one straight in bin what a waste of time cant believe people would actually buy one lol 😆
Is gas better then?
@@senaycaliskan8909 1000%percent yes
Thank you
I have both,, some places the gas is too hazardous, so the electric is more controlled.. but of course slower
I voite for gas f this electric crap
