As a German... wow, thank you for learning from my country's horrific history. I am always so chilled by the nationalism of US Americans.... and this fear got 100% validated on january 6th 2021. It is so refreshing to see real Christians. Not just ones wearing a cross in one hand and a gallow for the vice president in the other.

'it may just be God, reaching down, tapping you on the shoulder, saying, look over here' - this made me burst into tears, it was so beautiful. Thank you.

I am former Army, and this was a powerful story for me. About a year before my end of time in service, I realized I had become completely against violence and war. I was not able to obtain a discharge, so my last year was a rough one. Listening to your father gives me comfort in my new choices. Tell him thank you. And thank you Alina, I have been enjoying learning about the Bruderhof through your posts. I’m making plans for a spring visit. Not sure which community yet.

Greg Bourn, thanks so much for sharing your story, I'm really happy that my dad's story touched you. His decision for nonviolence was formative for my life and convictions as well. Glad to know that you are planning to visit one of our communities - here's the link where you can do that: www.bruderhof.com/en/visit-us
      All the best -Alina

Greg Bourn ....Hi Greg, I’m interested to know if you managed a visit to the Brudehof? I am so taken with their calm, loving and accepting ways. I’m from South Africa and have not heard about communities in my country.

This is amazing for me. I went through almost exactly the same thing when I was in the Navy after the ROTC riots in 1970. I was discharged as a CO but it was a little more difficult for me than it was for your dad. I have now watched 50or more of the various Bruderhof videos. I like to think if I had known about your community then I would have left the ship and got on a bus to one of your communities. Even now your communal life and values still sounds very attractive.

I gave my life to the Lord when I was 18 and am now in my 50s. I wish with all my heart that I discovered the Bruderhof 30 years ago. From the moment I came to the Lord I was totally convinced that this is that way believers should live. The idea of a tiny number of people owning and controlling all the earth's resources is absurd. Gross inequality between believers is even more absurd, in fact it is plain wrong. You guys are living as the Lord intended and I wish I was living there with you.

I just learned something. I had no idea that the Coastguard is part of the military in the US. Here in the UK it is an entirely civil role dedicated to safety at sea.

    • @erc9468
      @erc9468 4 роки тому

It’s not part of the military in the US. It falls under the Department of Homeland Security, not the Department of Defense. But they do utilize military rank, and can be detailed to the military in times of war.

This is another very interesting video. I've seen a lot of your videos on this channel and it's so interesting to watch your videos. If I had an opportunity to visit the Bruderhof, I would really like to visit one of the Bruderhof communities, but it is so far from where I live. I live in Belize and live in a Mennonite colony called (Old Colony). Thanks and may God bless you all.

Bruderhof Hello. Yes, I would like to, my English is not good, my usual language is (Low German), but maybe because of that we could have good conversations, or are there some people on the Bruderhof who can speak German? I mean in America.

Hi Alina. Your dad said reading our book, LIVING TOGETHER IN A WORLD FALLING APART, first interested him in visiting the Bruderhof. Neta and I want to greet him and you. I also share a similar story of getting a conscientious objector's discharge from the military. (In my case, the first person ever to be discharged as a CO from the Illinois National Guard.) You can read a brief telling of the precipitating events on our Facebook page at facebook.com/notes/dave-and-neta-jackson/why-i-laid-down-my-guns-after-dr-king-was-shot/10160121073430696
Also, if you are interested, we republished LIVING TOGETHER with additions following most chapters offering reflections on our experiences after 25 years in community. www.daveneta.com/books/Misc-Books/LivingTogether.html
If you or he wish to respond personally, please email Dave@daveneta.com as I seldom look at Facebook messages.
    God bless,
    --Dave Jackson

Was very interested until I hear you don't believe in military service. So basically you want to enjoy your freedom and do everything a free country allows but you want others to protect you. War is horrible and nobody wants to kill unless you're a phyco but in order for you to enjoy your happy community and freedom someone has to fight. You just don't want it to be you.

Still somebody needs to be a soldier, defending the borders, etc. Are they worse Christians for that?
