- A U.S. Air Force RC-135 aircraft, flying squadrons of the 55th Wing at Offutt Air Force Base, Nebraska, conducted training flights comprised of an all-female or mostly female air crew. In the cockpit, an all-female crew, with The Pilot, co-pilot and navigator. The ground crew was being supervised by a female who was the one who marshaled out the plane from its parking spot.

For an old (1970 - 1974) RC135 crewmember (linguist) I'm delighted to see a female crew. When I served, the WAF were few and far between, and virtually all administrative, or nurses. Couldn't be happier to see my alma matter continue to evolve.

They aren’t soldiers. Soldiers are in the army. They’re called airmen or airwomen if you prefer.
Both men and women in the U.S. Military are professional in their jobs - Bravo - I would’ve loved to study in Keesler Air Force Base in 1967.
Great video, thank you for sharing! My Uncle was a linguist on the only RC-135E when it was lost at sea in 1969. I've had a lifelong fascination with the entire "rivet" series of aircraft and the 135's in general. Just because I'm a numbers guy...Rivet Amber (RC-135E) had a 7MW radar that weighed over 35k lbs.
This airline truly deserved.I had flown with this for the last flight jeddah to Manila last year and the services i can give million Stars ..☺👍❤
You went on the USAF R-37 to Jeddah? I don’t think so..?

@@i_wi To virtue signal.
I was a radio operator on one of these with a air refuelling squadron. 68th. Lake Charles, LA 1956 1957. Gen Lamay did away with the old radio operators. No more HF equipment. Changed to single side band transceivers. I became a radio operator 1955 early. Air sea rescue goose Bay, Labrador. Several aircraft.

From an old recce pilot -- well done, ladies, it's about time. Unfortunately, back in my day, we had no female crew members. Our loss. RC-135D & Rivet Ball (the original 59-1491 We All Walked Away)
Hi can we talk
I flew on an RC-135 1971-1974 out of Eielson AFB Alaska. I was a signal analyst.
That’s my daughter! Very proud mama!
Wow!
God bless you and your daughter !
She’s all bundled up, because she is a Florida girl and not used to the frigid Nebraska winters.
every right to be proud too.
May god bless you and your daughter
About time. Way to go girls!
Ummm, women have been flying planes in the Air Force for a long time. There was a lot of woman pilots when I was in the Air Force in the 90's.
Great job!!! Salute!
Great video and thank you to all the ladies in this video for your service!!
My father flew the first generation of the KC135, it was his favorite of many military aircraft that he flew.
💪🏻🇺🇸🦅🇺🇸💪🏻 ❤️ God Bless Our Nations Troops and Commanders🙏 Navy, AF, Marines, appreciating for all your work 🤝
They fear russia and china too..
Some months ago their 2 bases in iraq were attacked by iran.. haha what a shame u.s!
My best part is the ground crews communicated with the pilots with sight language, both of them have a connection right the last minutes take off. Salute you all US Air Force Ladies, God Bless our arm forces.

Never been around acft before and your comments reflect that.
Amazing , highly respect and admiration for these women who is so brave , sacrifice their life for our country God bless them
Shucks girls! Thought I'd get to see the roll and takeoff but awesome video just the same. Some very serious faces during the preflight. Thanks to each and every woman on that airplane for the outstanding service you provide serving our country. Men only: Some good advice to you, always say Yes Ma'am! Lol

WOW!!! That flightdeck sure has changed since I flew one of those 40 years ago. Kudos to the ladies for keeping those birds flying strong.

Felix Dzerzhinsky They don't keep 'em they just fly 'em.
Same here. Last flight deck I saw was a 135 A model water wagon. They're all glass cockpits now. Is this a Rivet Joint bird ? Friend of mine from Minot crewed Rivet Joint. Bill Howard.
You should be proud of your daughter!!! We love all the men and women that serve! My hubby is a Marine.
Oh no... I''ve heard plenty of stories about the Marines.
Almost every dark secluded spot gets used by mating "couples" during a trip.
Girls - mechanics and pilots do very serious and responsible work! I respect you

YOU GO LADIES....So GREAT to see them flying these planes and long overdue!!!!
Frank George yes, it is. But on the other hand, it is long past time these planes were replaced!
Frank George probably not a good thing to say overdue to this crew.....
PIC is a captian. Navigator is a major. On that flight the captain is the boss!
Nice video!
Training makes all the difference, because every start-up and take off involves risk. These girls appear thoroughly professional. I noted a Major among the crew, while a Captain was Pilot in Command. It looked like a training flight for Navigators and Flight Engineers. Also I would like to wish the Ground Crew Chief Good Luck in her career, and expect to see rank chevrons adding up on her sleeves. She's doing a grand job,and earns a great deal of trust. Lives depend on her skill and aptitude.
Precisely. Exactly.
Go ground crew chief
Once flew from Southampton to Alderney in a little trilander, with a lady pilot, in tricky weather conditions. The younger (male) crew didn’t want to fly, but this pilot did a superb job, skimming just below the cloud and turning up into the cloud on a 180 and down onto the runway, just a moment before it disappeared in lowering mist. It was a canny and expert bit of flying.

I couldn't care less about the gender, color, or appearance of any of these crew, so long as they can do the job and receive the training they need to do it. God Bless America!
obgraham: I agree compleatly. Always recruit the best man for the job regardless of sex.
obgraham all male white ppl are racist and sexist? an all black woman aircrew would’ve been more politically correct. Absolutely disgusting in times passed that white males got away with such things! Western worlds should’ve learned from the Muslims and Indians and Chinese on how to be politically correct and equal to all. Shame on the west! Lol. Absolutely disgusting says CNN on the absolute racist white taunting lunatics that we are.

This is the aircraft my dad flew on for 20 years, many as a Crew Chief!
Why this airplane has no windows?
Beauty and competency, the captain has it all. This is what truly makes this country great, it is diversity and opportunity and not privilege. These women are true pioneers and heroes for all of us. Great job, god's in your quest to be the best the US Air Force has to offer (quest of all airmen). Ladies, you are definitely something to be proud of.
Not pioneers just examples of freedom to choose your life.
Proud of you ladies for you fabulous service
US Air Force chicks rock! Very professional. Way to go girls! 💋💕👍🇺🇸.

When I was in, the RC-135 "Rivet Joint" aircraft was designed by an Air Force E-8 (Chief Select). Only missions in the military where the mission commander was often a senior NCO who had override authority over the flight crew. At first didn't sit well with the pilots, MG Doyle Larsen set them straight on who's running the mission. Pilots to fly and 'backenders' were in charge.
@5:20 Why is she in front of the engines running? She could be sucked in by the intake.

I do not know how many scoundrels there are in this planet earth. This video maker "MOTORIZADO" is one of the scoundrels.
Well, I am so glad to see this take place! I would have loved to work with a female crew 50 years ago!
That's great. Next we can make a big deal if we can get an all male crew.
THANK YOU SO MUCH 💓 💗 💛
I flew on that plane over 35 years ago. It's totally different looking inside and out. Even the bus bringing out the crew is so different. I bet the flight meals are better than the cold fried chicken in my day. It gives me a wonderful feeling to see this. Thank you.
i always saved the chicken for when i got back to the barracks, microwave for a little midnight snack.
God bless you and thank you for your service. We are the land of the free, because of the brave.
Love to see more female crews that's awesome. Safe flights for you always
Super proud of our female airmen’s!!!
100% AGREE
I so proud of those that woman
Way to go girls!!
Hii
I flew on a C141 from Dover AFB to Ramstein AB Germany in the mid 80s on a hop and the crew chief told us passengers that it was a first. The plane ride was just another day in the life of the best Air Force in the world. The all female crew did themselves proud. All of us passengers were impressed but not shocked. Never forgot about this flight.
Sorry dude but that was done from a McGuire crew years before.
Funny that this video pops up today, after we just had multiple fatal crashes in the last couple weeks. Diversity is our strength!
Pretty awesome! 👍
Now seen on FlightRadar24 over Eastern Europe
Women are smart and brave! US Airforce servicewomen keep marching forward, the future belongs to you!
It was a RC-135 flying not very far away that the Soviet PVO was attempting to shoot down when they ended up shooting the South Korean KAL007 Boeing 747 by mistake, in September 1983. The SU-15 that was vectored didn't even bothered to make a visual confirmation before firing. The Soviets were so despicable - as always - that they denied any knowledge of the aircraft's fate and even participated in the search. But the RC-135 recorded the whole GCI communications... 🖕
Unlike the RC-135, the 747 did enter Soviet prohibited airspace, presumably because of a wrong handling of its Inertial Navigation Sistem, which allowed for a huge deviation North. Anyway, there are no excuses to such a killing.
I like the rc- 135 cockpit.
5:21 LMAO that sticker!
Prison Mike haha
The turn at the ending... didn't expect that.
Thanks you for sharing
Wow... May God bless the woman's
Well done to all cruise.
That officer seemed very thorough on inspection of that aircraft, she seems to be very responsible and probably one of our best pilots
As a PROFESSIONAL flight engineer of 35 years experience including as an instructor and examiner in both military and civil aviation, I have no problem with female pilots many of whom could show men how it’s done, but the woman doing that external inspection would be right back in the squadron if I’d been checking her. The job involves actually looking at all of the airframe for problems, not a walk in the park chatting with the flight line mechanic and a cursory flash of her light for the camera.
douglas freeman any old gal can run a Burger Queen check list!!! It’s their response and response time under pressure without panic! Also Sulley style flight management when all of the normal numbers change! Flight management and especially landings are MATH!!! In an emergency all of the math changes!!!!
@@Mike-yh7zx There's always someone that has to find fault. They only showed a few seconds of the inspection and didn't provide nearly enough to show how thorough it actually was, yet you still needed to complain.
Great job
Wow. Superb video. I worked as a civilian on military 707s way back in 1984. Our birds had old JT3 engines and clockwork instruments from the 1960s. They fly for Omega Air now as backup tankers for the USAF. These planes look like spaceships in comparison. I would love to see one up close again. I was really skinny. The idea was to grab as much salvage as you could. We had a few lady mechanics too, but nothing like this. I just work on old cars nowadays, but always dream about working on 707s once again. Ladies, drop me a line when you can and let's talk 707 together.
As an veteran flight crew chief in the army, I was curious to see the steam coming from the refueling hose after refueling. This would suggest the JP4 aircraft fuel is heated and warmer than outside air.. is this true?? Awesome video. Congratulations to the crew.
That's residual fuel venting. The fuels not heated, and it's not JP 4 anymore, JP 7. I served as a Crew Chief'myself, 4 years. USAF, Cold War, Minot. KC 135A water wagons !
@@ronbennett6396 why not minot? Freezins the reason! Worked f-16s & f-111s. I was soo jumping up n down excited when the 111s were boneyarded!
That's not fuel. The hose runs to an air cart to supply pneumatic presssure to start the first one or two engines. Then they disconnect and start the remaining engines using crossbleed air from the running engines.
Amazing ladies!!

Hi
Girls are so beautiful and they do a beautiful job for us
Great ! Amazing!
Nice to see this video amazing
That picture the crew chief had on her earphone would have made for an instant letter of reprimand back in the 80s. They were a lot more strict about military bearing and deviations from the uniform back then.
We where sacrumsized back then.
what was it of??
You knew, when you got a signed to a SAC base.... walk tall and keep yourself in AF standards. Either outstanding, or out processing.
My dad flew these jets in the early 90s, he had a spice girl in bikini on the side of his.
The only thing that would've made this video better would've been seeing the plane take off
That didn't happen. This was just a photo op moment for the feminist Air Force.
Con un Comandante e primo ufficiale donna ai comandi io viaggerei molto tranquillo. Complimenti
Few things make me feel as internally conflicted as videos like this.
I think the hate in here is unwarranted. If they can do the job, who cares how they look. These girls have probably heard that their whole life. Yet they chose to do something different and join the military.
When we took off in the WC135B we all had to climb up the lower hatch,We didn't get air stairs to board.
there is literally nobody hating in here
The USAF has dress and appearance and weight standards that are supposed to be met, that’s why!
Who knows whats actually under thos unis. How cold was it???
Some of them are huge! How does that work? Was a crew chief on F4s back in the day and everyone was expected to be in shape.
Huge ground crews are good; lower CG, means more stable.😏
The requirements for the department of transportation aren't what they used to be.
Ladies who carry a bit of extra weight usually live longer than the men who mention it.
