I'm Josh with Cotton and Hollow. We make funny things, we make useful things and we end up in many improbable situations. If you've got this far in the description you are an intrepid explorer of boxes and I approve you as a comrade in curiosity. So join me on this adventure as we make multitudes of majorly magnificent videos as we be excessively modest and have a good time! Thanks for watching and reading, give yourself a cookie.
This video is about Lagiacrus, but what I hear in Cotton’s soul is for Duramboros to return.
My gawd. We need spinning duramburos flying in the storm
@@darenh355 no! he is the storm.
@@g.g.2519 that is approaching
@@g.g.2519he is the calm and the storm.
Cotton Souls sounds like a game I'd love to play
"Cotton, how would you like your Lagiacrus in the new gen?"
"Moist."
Lip smack'n
To be fair, most of us DO want moist lagiacrus, rather than the dry land-only versions that came later on...
All of us Third Fleeters would love to see Lagi come back, especially after that tease they gave us in World at the beginning of the video!
I hope Lagi is not only back but extremely powerful
Lagi deserves to return with all the new technical possibilities they have now, they could make him crazy strong, also the subspecies versions too ;D
@@saiyajinog7424 Yeah I want him like an anomaly creature. His own thing or at least Deviljho/ Rajang level.
@@Locii97 I agree that would make more sens if lagia was an actual rajang threat level, 'cause of his size.
@@Locii97 just no
@@UziGameGP just yes
Maybe we can get a monster that’s related to the Laguacrus species, but is more land based. Like crocodiles and Alligators.
We all want the OG lagiacrus to come back, not a monster related to lagiacrus.
@@Chrys-marcelMambou I just think it would be cool. And it’s only just in case they can’t put Lagiacrus into Wilds
@@emeraldmax112 maybe, personally I am not a huge lagiacrus fan. But if he comes back in Wilds I'd like devs to improve his fight more and give him at least a rajang threat level
Ivory Lagiacrus it is
THE OG INTRO THEME, THE MEMORIES 😂😭 💕 MUSIC
WE ARE FEASTING! Now that the skeleton has finally been added there is no way they do not include Lagiacrus given the popularity poll not too long ago where it was very high up. Even without underwater combat I will be losing my mind if it gets revealed heh :>
I’d love Lagiacrus, but there’s nothing hinting at water combat. Leviathans are making a comeback but there were also leviathans in Rise. The only thing that maybe implies Lagiacrus is that every locale will have two variants. Maybe we’ll see a jungle map that turns into a flooded wetland and that’s where we could fight him?
I love that idea.
well, preferably not a jungle, but a temperate forest or, better yet, a Temperate Rainforest.
i still have a bad taste in my mouth thanks to the Ancient Forest; we don't need another one, or a version of it. besides, since the setting is in the New World, i'd say it's a safe bet that we'll return to it.
so yeah, that swamp better not be in a jungle.
@@jacktheomnithere2127 I liked the ancient forest. But I think something more mangrove-ish would be a welcome change. They could spice it up using cliffs for example, and then have waterways going between them. I wouldn’t say the ancient forest was boring or bad though, however I definitely agree that another one would be bad and boring. The ancient forest’s focus was more one the arboreal creatures and it was built to accommodate them better, so if they are doing a remastered flooded forest they will most likely change it to accommodate leviathans. IF something like this ends up being in the game, they should do their best to polish it and keep it unique, given how there wasn’t any water combat or major leviathans for quite a while
@@KsnypsAdventures there BETTER be a swamp map. i'd love to see something like the Marshlands (i'm a basic boi; i love generic habitats, if done well), but something like a mangrove swamp is definitely a good idea, since we haven't seen one in the series yet.
@@jacktheomnithere2127 I would love to see the classic swamp map, but it seems they’re going for a more vibrant tropical style. And yeah, a mangrove forest would be the best option of how to do this theoretical habitat. We sorta had an attempt at it with the flooded forest in rise, but it ended up just being brown water and orange rocks with polygons you can count on your hands. And as I said, according to the website every locale will have two variants, so one could be almost entirely underwater while the other has shallow pools amongst massive, formerly submerged rocks. Maybe they could connect it to a beach and make a coral reef area too, would be amazing
In the event that the MH devs couldn't make underwater work again, the chances of us getting either ivory or a new subspecies of lagiacrus is still pretty high and could still make sense. An ivory/subspecies lagiacrus coming to the new world/wilds because of it being attracted to the lightning storms and adapting to the desert landscape, using the sand as its "ocean"
While it wouldn't be quite as iconic as his original form, it would be a pretty cool solution and reason to bring him back!
I love this idea!
yeah, because that never got old fighting Jyuratodus and Lava Sioth
@@marmyeater Yeah, I understand what you mean. beotodus, jyrua, and the plesi variants are annoying to fight, but thats more of a product of the environment and a reduction of movement if you dont have the right jewels.
Almudron was a good example of how a monster can be like the ones above and strike a nice balance between annoying and using it's environment without frustrating the player.
@@navi8801 They aren't annoying or frustrating (maybe plesi is, I haven't fought him), they are: BORING. Just diving below solid ground to avoid damage and try to surprise you every 20 seconds gets old.
Add fighting a sea monster solely on land to that, and you might as well not add it, and just let it live on in the memories of people that fought it like it was.
@@marmyeater Fair take, I guess they could be boring to some, I personally never found it that way. But, that's the whole point of variants/subspecies no? To adapt to their current environment?
I'm guess I'm just looking at it from a lore and storytelling perspective, not exactly how fights should or shouldn't be. Of course some fights are not going to be as spectacular as others. There is always going to be a monster that is someone's favorite, whether or not the fight is good...that's up to the individual to decide.
If they ever intend to bring back underwater combat, this game is the perfect chance: Imagine water zones or swamp/ jungle zones. The game's theme is weather, so flooding due to heavy rain would make a lot of sense. And if it's flooded, it would make sense to have underwater combat to really give you that "I'm in the monster's element" kinda feel, and would also make the world they're making feel more real! We have focus mode now, so hitting monsters underwater should be fixed already, and if those who made horizon forbidden west can make underwater feel that smoode, there is no way capcom can’t!!! Come on capcom, blow us the fokk away by going ALL THE WAY!!!!!😁
agreed... except the jungle part. we already have the Ancient Forest, and the setting's in the New World; we don't need another jungle.
what we need is a temperate forest.
I really like the rap at the beginning of this video. Great job, Cotton!
Glad to see this series again Cotton!
3:58-4:17 you literally just described the Flooded Forest in Sunbreak.
the Palamute's not slowed down when you ride it in the watery zones, and remember that you only fought Jyuratodus in the watery parts of both the Wildspire Wastes and Flooded Forest? the water was deep enough for the monster to take advantage of, but not too deep for the hunter to be slowed down.
i repeat: *we already have what you're suggesting.*
and if we're really getting Lagiacrus back along with more water-based leviathans, then a swamp map is a MUST for the game.
maybe the swampy area of the Ancient Forest in the beta footage where Lagiacrus was revealed could be a swamp map for Wilds? honestly, it BETTER be in the game. better than no swamp map at all, and certainly better than what we got in the Wildspire Wastes.
regardless, i can't stress this enough... i still want to see a fire-breathing Leviathan (no, Agnaktor doesn't count).
woe, magma almudron be upon ye
@@ScaleTail1101 the reason for this being?
@@jacktheomnithere2127 monkey's paw type joke, he's almost a fire-breathing leviathan but no one wants him to be in wilds

Imagining underwater combat in Wilds graphics is terrifying. (Both as someone with experience with Tri's underwater controls and as someone with mild thalassophobia)
I actually got goosebumps, nice going!
Lagi without underwater combat just wouldn't be the same
Maybe he’ll be just as dangerous in both
True, underwater did enhance him. But they could easily do him without it in a similar way they did him in Generations
Yeah, but they already dit it in Gen and even did the model in World, so they definetly want it.
@@cuchara_en_sopa if he ain’t in the modern gen I think the MH community would riot since he got 3rd place in the voting for god sake
Ivory Lagiacrus
PLEASE I want my favorite monster back Lagi will always be my fave because Monster Hunter Tri on the Wii was what got me into the series in general and what got me to play all the older and on going titles😁
I wonder if the swamp that lagiacrus is in the beta will be a wilds map
honestly, it *better* be. better than no swamp map, and certainly better than what we got in the Wildspire Wastes.
But what would be its upheaval? Because that is what the devs have said wilds will be all about. How would you go about giving a swamp map a flurishing/barren/upheaval cycle?
I friggin love all of their raps, all of the intro raps for Monsters, their own outro, their raps they'll do occasionally like this one - absolute 🔥🔥, the amount of effort for literally a 1minute bit but that effort/ fun they obviously have with them (I hope) is so awesome to see. Love you guys, can't wair for Wilds!!
To make underwater combat effective and not look goofy in modern MH, the mount will be needed as a swimming vessel or some new mount specficially for that. They have already shown combat can be done to a limited degree on the mount so I think that would suffice until the monster hits land maybe. Adding a lake or huge pond to the game would be so cool! Theres some much that can be done with that in terms of monster variety, travel, and fighting mechanics etc. Also, another person brought up the idea of an entire dlc expansion being focused on underwater combat on an island of some sort. Basically the tropical version of Iceborne. It would be dope to see some fights on lagoons, in mangrove forest, coral reefs, etc.
3U was my first MH game. Saw my friends play the earlier titles but never got the chance to personally play them.
Lagiacrus was so iconic to my first experience of Monster Hunter that I was surprised it wasn't a poster boy like Rathalos when I talked to people about it.
I'm here for their return.
I am dying in joy for cottons intro not only some sick beats but also a great dedication to our boy lagiacrus
1000% agree we need Lagiacrus in Wilds!!!!! and definitely a ton of new monsters!!!!!!!!!!
did the devs not confirm that they also tried to get Lagiacrus in rise but ran into the same clipping problem.
The problem wasn't clipping per-say but rather the way Lagi drags his chest on the ground requiring so much inverse kinematics to not majorly clip that it made the game lag (heh) every time he moved. Rise leviathans used some clever tricks to hide the clipping, but something as big as Lagi was still a no go. But if you watch the sand leviathan in the trailer, you can see that they now have enough power on the ps5/series X to have the game not lag with the inverse kinematics.
I am so happy this came back, I love these videos and the theme.
"Let's talk about a monster, That's surely a FAN FAVORITE!"
2:00 "he was the flagship of tri which featured a seamless transition from land to underwater combat." Shows clip of a hammer player repetedly misjudging his distance and failing to hit Lagiacris underwater. I think I see a good reason to not bring water combat back.
One idea I lke is some kind costal map, like the jungle, but not the jungle. Something like a mangrove or an estuary with low and high tide if we don't get underwater combat. At low tide, Lagiacrus tends to avoids the locale, but when the tide is high, he gets a free buffet of everything. It could also bring back Namielle & Tidal Najarala
I swear Cotton is better at raps than Josh (sorry not sorry), that was amazing
I don't want Lagi back without underwater combat
Same. I don’t think it’d work otherwise.
No way we get Lagiacrus before the fish doku
Lagiacrus has every right to return to MH Wilds, and I truly hope Capcom finally solves or has already solved the issues they had with him in the past.
My theory about wilds is that the base game will be totally land based and dry/desert-y. Then, the dlc will be heavily water/tropical based and might even include underwater combat
I think since there’s thunderstorms in the sand map, there could be floods in a water map, then if Lagiacrus was there there could be floods and Lagiacrus and other monsters could swim and have underwater fights
I wonder if Lagiacrus' theorized water explosions could have knockback and/or other forced movement
Addendum: made me think of an older "Depth Charge" Lagiacrus who's really picked up on and mastered said explosions and possibility to force his prey where he wants
If the Sekriet mount is like the Pyro raptor in Jurassic World 2, not that they are in any way connected. But if it is, and have webbed feet, it might be able to swim fairly.
Honeslty if Capcom releases a trailer where Lagiacrus is shown I will actually cry
I can see them having a section of the map or a biome that's like tropical where Lagi is. I also feel like they haven't brought him back yet because they've been waiting to add him into a game that has some form of underwater combat, so hunters can get the full experience of Lagi, and I hope that this is the game he makes his return in his full glory
Bringing Lagicrus back without underwater combat would be kind underwhelming. Maybe it's not in the base game, but having the DLC with a massive focus on water based monsters and combat would be GLORIOUS.
I would be totally fine if Lagiacrus is the only monster that can be fought underwater in a special arena. It works with Safi Jiva & Kulve Taroth who make use of the environment to not be present in the overall game world.
No lagiacrus without underwater combat.
Ivory didn't need that handicap
What if there was Lagiacrus but a sand variant. Rather than being attuned to water, it’s a fire electricity version who would swim through the sand like the new wyrms and maybe he can be the pack leader symbiosis kind of feeling. The fire can come from absorbing heat from the sand while the electricity is its typical crystal on its back being powered up but the electric dust storms.
The whole leviathan problem has always reminded me of the problem they had in the original dead space with the arm/snake whatever you wanna call it that grabs and drags you. Guess its just a really common issue with any elongated critter... but wooh, I really can't wait.
The leviathan frame barrier has been smashed like a broken bottle in a bar fight scene in a movie.
I would also like to see all 3 MAGALA in wilds, as essentially he deserved better graphics than rise!!!!!! and there is no way they add Kushala and Teaostra back for a third game in a row...!
I don't care how good they could make him in new games, if it's BASE Lagiacrus and it's only on land, it is heresy
Ivory is land-based Lagiacrus, so if it's ONLY on land, they put Ivory, not base
I'd hate if we got Lagiacrus without underwater.
If we get *a* Lagiacrus I hope it's only Ivory. That's the land Lagi. That's the big part of its identity. It moves faster, is more agile and has large land discharges. Lagi's identity is that it swims. Its discharges are small on land and it moves slow on land, even in GenU where they basically made a crooked Ivory because they didn't commit to all the things that made Ivory good to fight on land. Cause they can't just make base Lagi into an Ivory.
So I hope they pull a Crimson Glow Valstrax and only put the Subspecies in Wilds. That or they surprise us with underwater combat.
Your ability to stay blind about new Wilds info is something I could never do.
Your willpower is worthy of a green lantern ring, Cotton.
I commend you, sir.
The difference between flying and swimming? Flying is as fast or faster than groundspeed.
Many a moon has passed and I don't believe there is a general consensus of hate for Zora swimming in Majora's Mask. Swift swimming will be the only way forward for people to be tolerant if not happy.
I personally do NOT want to see underwater combat. I have found that the only games that ever do underwater gameplay are games that are fully underwater. However the idea that you have to bring back underwater enemies without bringing underwater combat seems to be best option
I know the odds are pretty much nonexistent, but I pray we get to fight him underwater again
Considering the open areas I have some extreme hope that Gammoth might come back too, all she needs is some way to update her fight.
With him being the top 3 monster among the poll, there’s no way that they’ll forget to put him in the game.
7:22 The WORLD tech demo proves that the DEV'S are already working hard to put LAGIACRUS in the modern monster hunter game and it seems WILDS is perfect to finally debut.
We know Lagi was supposed to be in Gen5. We also know Namielle was supposed to be more underwater than she was in Gen5 but they couldnt make it work.
Also Velkhana came back Cotton! The "break" for elder dragons isnt consistent.
So Lagi and Namelle could come back in their proper prime now!
Lagiacrus is my third most desired monster for wilds, after Gammoth and Deviljho.
Why people always think in Lagiarcus when they see this type of monsters!?
Is just a stupid electric Royal Ludroth
The way this sand monsters move looks way more like Uroktors and Agnaktor, i'm truly shocked nobody has mentioned it already
And honestly a sand Agnaktor could work way better than Lagiarcus, just like the mud Lavasioth
It just wouldnt make sense for him not to return, he wasnt in world but they already spent the time making his model and making him move in world just to scrap it, and then he appears twice on the top 20 list of monsters I feel like their was a 0% chance he won't be showing up
Either Lagiacrus or a subspecies that fits in Wilds
mh3 was my first mh, im waiting for lagiacrus since then, so hopping to see it again in wilds
FU where Tigrex brutality was supreme and the Akantor roamed free
You described Agnaktor's fight by the way.
Cotton, if we giving Lagi a super move, you know it’s gitta be his mh stories kinship😅
SIR. WE NEED KECHA WACHA.
Game Cube was beyond future in its technology ..Lagiacrus model to underwater battle to 4-player split screen phantasy star online 😬
I would prefer they straight up brought back Namielle anyway but I like what you’re going for for Lagi.
How about a sand based subspecies of lagiacrus so he can swim through the sand instead of water like the balahara do.
Honestly i find the argument Gammoth isnt a real Flagship and therefore isnt as an important really weird. This argument of "It is a flagship and therefore more important" is really dumb. Its the same argument people make about rathalos to justify him being everywhere with 500 varriants. Like imagen we get another monster hunter stories and it is once again based around a rath, how honestly boring it would be. It is an argument purely made out of nostalgia and special treatment based on nothing. (Nothing against Lagi by the way since he has been missing in action too for quite a while and should return. More so my frustration with people going with the stupid argument of "X should get speacial treatment because it was on Box Y" when in reality its just because they like X more than other things. I have seen this argument being made for weapons, monsters and even game mechanics...)
To be fair, with Rathalos it is more about it being the mascot of MH as a whole rather than just a Flagship.
@@Ryodraco differemce being? Still special treatment that is based on difference that has nothing to do with the players fun. Being a mascott of the series just means being used more often in marketing than a mascot of a game, which is basically what flagships are. The best part about it is, do we even need a series mascott if each game focuses way more on their own mascott/flagship than them?
The reason why rath even is the mascott isnt because he is fundementally better or more fun than other monsters. Its because he is a generic dragon and that is easier to market.
The argument is just as dumb as saying "well GS was the weapon on the cover of the first MH Game and is used in marketing way more than other wrapons like lance, GL, IG etc. Therefore GS should always get special treatment over all other weapons" literally the same logic. And if they are being serious even GS mains wouldnt agree with this logic.
@@zawardo5909 I see, to clarify I'm not try to argue that Rathalos is better, inherently deserves special treatment over other monsters, etc. just that being the mascot is likely the reason why it does get special treatment.
@@Ryodraco oh it most certintly is the reason.
Im hoping they bring snake wyvern back
me too.
I haven't played any of the previous gens, but I hate the idea of not fighting a water creature in the water.
Sweet sweet hopium for my boi Laggi.
12 hunter sieges in the open world would be dope too
Lagiacrus could've easily come back in Rise. As leviathans (which are based on lagiacrus skeleton) are present throught base and dlc MHRise.
But, for whatever standards, they chose not to. Likely do to the silly ground clipping braking "immersion" like for World. (Which is stupid, as i theres been soo mang times ive seen monsters wall clip when on hunts. Especially in wirld as it encourages you to run up them to get aerial attacks that may lead to a mount.)
Actually, it would be pretty fun if lagiacrus mastered both water and thunder. Maybe that would lead his fight to my top 10 favorite ever in monster hunter.
Just the skeleton has returned, this we know. One can only speculate about Lagiacrus' return to the series.
I think u can make a sand lagi since the severe lack of water
Legiacrus would have worked fine in the Flooded Forest in Rise.
Calling it right now. Lagiacrus returns cuz obviously they have the Leviathan skeletons working/returning now. Hoping Agnaktor returns too.
What if we get a variant of lagiracas that is basically a Kirin with the lightning horn
what if they made it so electric atks do more damage to you if you have water blight
That intro 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
If almudron exist we can have mud lagiacrus or some kind of subspecies
Honestly Lagi should get his own personal trailer
I mean it can be implemented since there were leviathans in Rise ? or am I wrong
I mean at this point they are saving his reveal in August.

Lagi coming back?
I am appreciable to the potential of the likes of Lagiacrus and Agnaktor returning, but candidly I had hoped Balahara would have been a snake wyvern. Their ilk still remains woefully underrepresented- unless lightning boy turns out to be a Remobra relative- so a pity they missed this shot
Still missing under water fights... #JusticeForCeadeus
ok that song was awesome!!
I wonder why not a single youtuber has covered monster hunter puzzels even thought its 2 weeks away from release
The main issue was World's engine kind of sucked. It took a section of that team a year to get zorah magdaros to work. Moving platform physics, letting you move on him as he moved, without slipping off him, or falling through him. The engine sucked because um Insomniac got this mechanic to work on a PS2, 1 year before the first Monster Hunter came out. That same game, while also beating Nintendo's Mario Galaxy to its spherical worlds with functional gravity gimmick by 4 years. that entire game, Ratchet & Clank Going Commando, took a year to make in its entirety. that's why Capcom has utterly abandoned the MT framework engine in favor or the RE engine.
I would love to see more shallow water combat, like in World. I HATED that jyratodus and beotodus were the only real fights we got where the aquatics/polar expert skill was even usable. I wanted a real challenging monster to use that mechanic, to not only be fun and different but also justify that armor skill's existence in armor sets.
for Rise they actually said that it wasn't fixed, they only got mizutsune and almodron to work because their legs are longer. This meant their bellied didn't interact with ground as much.
To think my top number one monster is coming this can't get any more WILD 😂🔥 🔥
