We took our dog to the vet we were using at the time, for a UTI, and he told us that we needed to put her on the RX diet for urinary issues, and never eat another bite of any other food for the rest of her life! She was only about 2 yrs old at the time! Never another treat or other food for the rest of her life? Crazy. We quit that vet immediately.
The vet's get either highly discounted Rx food from Hills or kick backs. Most vet are not nutritionist. I've learned so much from this site & trying to get my dog clients to get off this junk and have their pups eat real food!❤
I go back and forth from freeze dried and raw. My dogs have done wonderful on both! My golden was 20 lbs overweight and lost all of it with a better diet and exercise ❤
Love they touched on Urinary SO diet. My dog was on it for 2 yrs and wasn’t doing well on it. Vet just wanted me to change brands of prescription diet. I’ve changed to a whole food diet instead with supplements.
My cat was prescribed this diet for bladder stones. I fed her it for maybe a few weeks. Vet told e she would be on it for life. I just had to put her on a low taurine food. No way was I going to keep her on this exspensive food. I stopped with the prescription food. She lived to 19 yrs. Old.
One of my fur kids (Penny) is overweight, I admit that, but she was overweight when I first adopted her. Because of my work hours/shifts I had been "free feeding" both fur kids. No one else is home & obviously I wanted to make sure they had enough food. My point. One of the vets that work at the vet clinic that I take both fur kids to blew a gasket & became really hateful then wanted me to put my Penny on a Hills prescription diet dry food variety. I won't do it because I've not heard good things about Hills which I explained to her but she thinks she knows more than I or more than you and what I've learned from you on this channel. I will keep both fur babies on the Iams indoor variety which is supposed to help them lose weight and I am just feeding twice a day and not "free feeding" them anymore. I still give both fur kids canned food too but my Penny wasn't used to canned food when I adopted her so she prefers dry. My Tigger loves canned food more than dry food but will eat dry food. They always have plenty of fresh water too.
What a valuable video!! A lady I know will love this video and I am recommending this company to her dog for the journey her dog is on. Loved this! Thank you.
My dog gets diarrhea on beef 😒....she gets chronic cough, itch, cataracts, can't get her off steroids....I cook her food....often pork, turkey, carrot rice add omega and slippery elm at feed time
do you also add organs like heart, liver, kidney and meaty bones (don't cook the bones) or bone meal supplement, vitamin d source like oily fish and a source of manganese? if you're only feeding what you wrote, then it's not balanced, sadly.
@KhaleesiCirilla I add liver, she doesn't like it though, I have a very picky eater, I was told not to use human grade vitamin D, fish oils...still learning...especially that dogs are carnivores
@ellehfr4806 not fish oil, oily fish like mackerel, salmon, trout, sprat, anchovies, smelt :) you still need heart and second secreting organ like kidney (heart is essential for taurine and kidney is for vitamin b). dr judy morgan has puploaf recipe videos on her channel, go check them out. natural-herbal supplements are okay to add, synthetic vitamins are bad. I have 2 cats and sometimes add Now brand supplements to their raw diet (I don't do that anymore because I switched to another type of raw diet)
If your dog doesnt want to eat his food due to supplements, try a sprinkle of cinnamon on top. The scent and flavor helps to hide it and most dogs like the taste of cinnamon. Just a tiny sprinkle!
Both my cats had a tendency toward struvite crystals, so vet put them on CD, and kept renewing the prescription. It wasn't until I started learning more about how horrible Hills and Royal Canin is food wise that I stopped those diets. I then learned about monitoring the ph if a problem was indicated and adding a water fountain to encourage water intake and using small amounts of methionine in their food. Worked like a charm!
the fact that listening to these woman and others like them has convinced you that Hills and RC are horrible diets is exactly why no one should listen to them. its funny. who do you think did the research or paid for the research to know about urine pH and urinary issues? and what about the minerals that make up those stones? are you feeding a diet that restricts them? Even Medicus knows that is important and mimics Hills nutrient numbers. So how horrible are they?
I have my cat on a non-prescription diet right now but he is allergic to something in it. But he has not had any Crystal problems for more than a year and I'm terrified to change it! I don't want to go back to prescription because it's very expensive!
Rice for a sensitive stomach diet??? I thought rice was an inflammatory. I used it when I first started cooking but since cut it out since I thought it wasn’t good. Including possible traces of arsenic. Is this wrong? Was I correct at first?
My vet will not ok😞 hard to find anyone that will okay it in my area. I know you need that approval so random people aren't just doing it. I wish you would also take recent blood work done as option for proof.😢
What do i need to do for oxalate stones. ,ive been to 4 different vets had 1 durgery n shes needs another surgery they say n she been on 3 different prescription foods its gone on 4 yrs n shes still hurting no😮t peeing good n bleeding has bladder inflamed 😢
Just joining in...thankful for ya'll! My lil dog has been on hydrolyzed diet about a year and even though she weighs the same, she has gotten so bony in her chest, elbows, knees...sternum bone really pronounced in last 2 months...muscle loss for sure 😢 She has hives since Oct...tried organic hamburger for 3 weeks recently and hives got worse...tried freeze dried rabbit and started shaking as if in pain...rabbit from Hare Today arrives today...will cook and see if she can tolerate. She has neck tumor as well. Used to have bloody diarrhea for long time which stopped when hives started in Oct...been a hard road with lots of debt and lots of tears!! I'm desperate for something to work for her!! 🥺
Have you looked into raw food? My daughter’s lil pup has gotten so much better when she stopped feeding kibble. She’s 15 and now actually runs on her walks. She’s a shitzu maltese
@mobile_noble4026 That's great! I've heard great things about raw. My lil girl is a Shih-tzu. The freeze dried is raw and I think her gut can't handle the transition yet but yes, I would love to have her on raw one day. I think cooking a novel protein like rabbit is my only option right now...she handled cooked beef for 3 weeks as far as her digestive response but her hives and itching worsened on 3rd week so I guess she is allergic to beef...or just has leaky gut and nothing will work without symptoms until her gut is healed. I also am going to order the Leaky Gut Protocol by Adored Beast and see if this helps. I'm definitely running out of options so I'm praying this will work!!!
on the Facebook page Saving Pets One Pet @ A Time (The Original) rice in a bland diet has been slammed and said Don't Feed. Turkey and pumpkin is what is recommended. Period. so i'm confused as to why you didn't say anything about her saying beef and rice for a bland diet.

Where can I get this healthy food diet for sensitive stomachs?

I have two 14 yr old cats that have been on Urinary c/d (Rx) for many yrs. How can I transition then into a healthy cooked food diet?

Can b3 be useful for binding phosphorus…
If a dog gets coccidia, is there any herbal remedy or is this when we have to take tough medications.
Where can we find a low fat diet for my miniature schnauzer. Please help he has mennigitis and having chemo since last June
Which cancer diet you recommend?
Thank you so much!!
Are you going to share the recipe?
Feed my dogs Herbsmith Inc the last year and see a big difference in them along with her supplements
Is this type of whole food line available in Canada? What would you recommend for a cat with crystals if not?
She says cranberries added to a fresh food diet can really help, because it changes the urine pH.
Thanks!

This is the bland diet I recommend: instagram.com/p/C2fE_QOMtQH/?img_index=1
Hi Dr Chris!!!!
My pup 17 mo Goldendoodles no longer eats the healthy food I buy him and I F ing that I am wasting food from Dr Marty and ultimate nutrition.
Rice?
❤❤
You sit here and talk about the diets but don’t add the recipe. Why?
I tried my dog hated Medicus😢
Great video but I cringe every time I hear rice as a dog food ingredient.
My dog wouldn't eat it😂
Neither would our CDK cat. Sounds like great food but he would have nothing to do with it.
This is ridiculous… you don’t share the recipe! I’m out …
We have an entire playlist of free recipes!
