7:26 there is no frontman in bts, leader for them means someone who is the connection between the group and the company, when necessary says the tough things (or things like we should start working out according to rm) when necessary, or is the spokesperson for the group when necessary, way more responsibilities with no bonuses
Suga is actually the Global Ambassador for the NBA! So he’s met a lot of NBA stars when he is in the states he sits court side at games! And when they come to S Korea also.

This group of human beings is pure magic. Each of them is beautiful in so many ways. So glad you watched this video, it's a great intro. They all do solo work outside their group and last year Jungkook took over the world lol! He did an all English Album called Golden, which in its first week sold 2 1/2 million copies! He has a song called "standing Next to You" and there is a remix by USHER and a performance video that is epic beyond words. Every member will keep you in awe as you watch everything. 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜

Helpful hint for the guide: Not sure if you know.... Korean people counted age differently to others...
Korean Age vs International Age - difference is 1-2 years depending on if their birthday has been.... In most older videos, including this guide, they are giving Korean ages so you will need to adjust.
The members were only 13-18 years old when they joined BTS and 15-20 yo when they debuted.
In Korea when you are born you are considered 1 year old. Then on lunar newyear every year you add another year to your age, no matter what your birthdate is. ....
Year of birth - International age at Debut on 13June13
Jin 1992 - 20 yo
Suga 1993- 20 yo Suga started with MIDI at 11
JHope 1994 - 19 yo
RM 1994 - 18 yo RM started rapping at 11 and was well known in the underground scene at 13
Jimin 1995 - 17 yo
V 1995 - 17 yo
JK 1997 - 15 yo he signed with big hit at 13
Rule of thumb - if it's before their birthday - subtract 2 years to get international age. if it's after their birthday - subtract 1 year to get their international age.
The Korean Government has recently (June28 last year) brought in international age as the standard in Korea, but all older videos/ interviews/ shows, will be referencing Korean age.

FYI, there are terms that you may hear a lot when you watch BTS videos. Hyung means an older brother, which is a term used by a man to refer to a close male friend or brother who is older than them, and Dongsaeng means a younger brother and sister, regardless of gender.
And Maknae means the youngest, the youngest member of the family or the youngest member of the team. :)

18:49 they produce some stuff from scratch, & they have in house producers that they work with as well. You'll see names like pdogg & supreme boi & others on a lot of their songs. They have what, 400 songs by now or more, any ARMYs know the actual number? Im curious now. It was 300 a while back but they have put out a few albums since then & each member just put out solo albums/work recently, just before they all joined the military. 💜

Eta: about Taehyung, (V) you said he is the more mellow singer or whatever, but then to disregard it, you weren't far off base. He is more mellow over all, especially in his solo work, but he's def not afraid to hit the high notes as well! He's very soulful with a rich deeper voice that i find very soothing.
Eta: bora is purple in korean, borahae combines the korean words for purple with i love you, so it technically means i purple you. Which is better than love because it means i will both love and trust you for a long time. Tae made the phrase up. 💜
38:10 ish: only jimin & j hope trained in dance before debut. RM & suga were just rappers, they had zero training , nor interest, in dance prior to debut. Jin had no training or real interest in dancing or singing, he was training to be an actor but big hit convinced him to try for BTS instead. I don't think jk (jungkook, sorry) & Tae had formal lessons, but im not sure about that. And jimin didnt really sing at that point, his and j hopes focus was dance.
I wish Taylor Marie( in her vid) had included @48:07 at Wimberley Stadium in England. One of the largest Stadiums in the world which seats 90 thousand peeps. BTS - that day - SOLD OUT THE ENTIRE ARENA - IN 1 HR.30 MINS. Setting a Guiness World Record.
Trust n believe. Army was THERE THAT NIGHT IN SPIRIT....with all of YOU.......and there were guys outside the arena 'Scalpers'..... who were selling FRONT ROW TICKETS at $3000 a Pop. And trust - they sold out.......I had friends who'd been at a previous event. Heard about 'According to them....some "lil show'"....paid and were in front row.' Those Scalpers made some MONEY that night at one of their most Iconic Legendary Concerts.......to date .....Nuff said 💜💜
Correct about Purple/indigo being the royal colours as it used to the the most expensive colour dye to produce to dye cloth.

They also have in house Producers so they can do either have their in house guys do it for them completely, do it themselves or work together, get advice they are as involved as much as the they want to be or they can simply say I want to work with x producer on this one.
That is most interesting to me because I am a producer as well (I make lofi music). I would love to see how Suga makes his music 💙

Now you have to go to the cinema on Wednesday 10th April or Saturday 13th of April to see Suga of BTS the second Rapper finale solo concert from it's SUGA :Agust D Tour 'D-Day the Movie. The cinema tickets went on sale earlier this week. I'm very lucky my local cinema is only 20minutes walk down the hill into town and I booked and paid for my ticket online yesterday via their cinema's website. So I now have my ticket already.
There are also more dates put out now depending

Always excited to watch each new person really discover BTS for the first time. They used humour goofyness and downright silliness to cope with the various dirty tricks death threats and punishing work loads they had to deal with in their struggle to world domination. The support and loving brotherhood they created caused them to choose to live together for 8 years. Highly unusual in kpop. When they eventually bought houses they did so to be close to at least 1 other member. Ages stated in this are korean, ie 1 year old at birth and everybody turns another year older lunar new year. Therefore it would be possible to be 2 months old in the UK and 2 years old in Korea. So Jungkook was 13 turning 14 RM was leader at 18 and V and Jimin were still at school when they started. They grew together creating a culture of excellence support and encouragement. This is the only guide that really gives an insight as to how it was possible for these underdogs who innovated their own marketing strategies that have now become industry standards to overcome the unfair treatment and limitations they had to deal with. Yet remain humble kind loving mega stars who believe they owe it all to their fans ARMY.

Welcome to one of the best guides. Some helpful information for you. Asian names have last names first so RM's first name is Namjoon and last name Kim. Names will always be expressed last then first so Kim Namjoon. Hope this helps.
At the time of this video Korean's count age differently. They count the months in the womb so you are basically 1 year old when you are born and then everyone counts their next age as of Jan 1 regardless of the actual date. So when you turn 19 in the year 2024 you can drink Jan 1.
As for song ceation they do create songs on their own, but they often work with their in house producer PDogg and as they have been in the business 10 years they also work with other producers. They write their own songs except for some of the heavy english songs. They work like a song writing camp. The start with beats (Suga often makes them but everyone can and does have the skills), melodies are added either in house or by others, again depends on the song. Lyrics can work like a writing camp where they have a theme with the melody and everyone puts in their lyrics. RM lyrics have often been choosen in the past. He is very talented in writing. They discuss and choose and rework. Other times, a song is written by the member (V- Blue and Grey ) and it gets asked to be used by the group. JK wrote Your Eyes Tell. They have hundreds of songs so it is a mish mash. Solo mixed taped are managed 100% by the member. That was the rule for releasing a mixed tape. You had to do it yourself. You could include others but you had to find them. They are very involved in their music.
In Korea the *Lunar* New Year is more important than the calender New Year we celebrate so this is when everyone used to age a year in Korea.
Out of curiosity I once looked up the age of consent in SK and it is 20 - everything else I have no idea.

18:40 yes they have certain songs like that. mostly, they have inhouse producers on who they have been with since debut, they also have external producers on certain tracks. some songs like dynamite they have zero input on (it was given to them).

Yes NBA made Suga their ambassador and he has a clothing line for every team with his name on it. I’m a warriors fan from SF and there’s a few vids of him with Steph C. Watch some JHope at Lollapalooza live videos (he sold 100,000 tickets the most in history)
If you want to listen to Suga's production in all its glory I recommend listening to the ringtone he made for Samsung in 2021 "Over The Horizon 2021", it's amazing how he redid the classic Samsung ringtone :)
The 2021 version specifically is the one you should listen to, he did the 2022 ringtone as well but the 2021 one is amazing.
Also all of his mixtapes are produced by him alone, with the exception of a few songs that he produced with one or two of his producer friends.
I really recommend checking out his solo songs!

You were asking about V joining the dance line - they have sub units within the group - he was considered a good enough dancer to join their sub unit. There is the rap line (RM, Suga, J Hope), the Hyung line (oldest members), Maknae line (youngest members), vocal line (singers), etc.
All Bts members are in the military, son in 2023 the all did solo songs or Albums, even now when the members are in the military the still win awards, Jungkook have breake all records whid his Album Golden and his 3 solo Mvs Seven ft Latto, 3 D ft Jack Harlow-remix whid Justin Timberlake, and Standing Nex To You-remix whid Usher. Seven got in to nr 1 at Billboard 100,200,Global, nr 3 in UK, his member Jimin alo got his song Like Crazy to nr 1 at Billboard
So they made their individual songs before they went to the military?

Jimin and JK enlisted together, a day after RM and V
even now that they're in the military, they have prerecorded contents that they will release..
-for example, jhope have been enlisted for almost a year now (he's coming back this Oct) but he filmed a documentary about his roots, street dance, before he enlisted, and will be released tomorrow, March 28 and he have a mini album of OSTs to go with it that's going to be released on March 29..
-Jimin released a single a week and V's collab after 2 weeks of their enlistment
-V also released a single 2 weeks ago
-SUGA's gonna have a movie about his solo tour, will be available at the cinema next month
-We don't have a date yet, but Jimin and JK have filmed a travel(?) content, probably like Bon Voyage... None of the Kim's are related, by the way. There are only around 300 family names in Korea, and about 20% of the population is named Kim. It's even more so in BigHit's other group TxT-- 3 of the 5 are named Choi.

Not fluent, but they understand a lot and are getting better at speaking. Can rely in English to simple questions but use Korean for anything complex. Watch Jungkook's and Suga's interviews with Jimmy Fallon last year as examples
@@bluesucceed RM speak fluent English, Suga (secretly) does as well, Jungkook is getting a lot better, Jimin learn diligently, Jin studied in Australia once, j-hope and V can understand most and will speak English when they want to.
All member can speak and write Japanese as well.
The thing is, when they sing or speak Korean it means so much more, and waaaay more beautiful than when they do in English.
"Bora" means purple in Korean, and "Borahae" means I purple you (I love you)..

Enjoyed this very much. Your music sounds so chill and easy to listen to. Not much to add to the comments from below. I would like to ask if you could separate your playlist into separate artists instead of "Kpop" maybe. It is just that BTS basically started out as a hip hop group that added the vocals and choreo of the Kpop world at a time when that wasn't done but as a result they were shunned by both the hip hop and Kpop worlds. So they said, screw it, we'll do our own thing. And they did it so well and with such success that now Kpop tries to emulate their attributes. However, 90% or more of Kpop still do not write their own lyrics or participate in the creative process, while BTS has done so since before debut. Not to undermine the very hard work and dedication Kpop artists put in. They do work incredibly hard. But you will find BTS is so versatile and write what they feel using whatever genre suits the mood for what they want to say. Almost no two songs are the same, which is one of my favorite things about them! They just don't fit into a Kpop box, yet they are pigeon holed into it by industries who refuse to recognize them as artists without forcing the Kpop label on them. They don't allow them into categories unless it is labeled Kpop or boyband. It is so frustrating and ridiculous. You wouldn't call a group of Canadian rappers and vocals "CPOP"? They'd just call them whatever their group name is and they would be artists from Canada. Anyway, they have some POP songs obviously, but even now, for example, with the youngest (Jungkook) releasing a new album, completely in English which topped all the charts... he is still labeled KPOP but absolutely nothing about his album is KPOP except that the singer is from Korea. Sorry for the rant, and leave the list as you like, but thought I would ask if BTS could be separated from the generic "Kpop" playlist you have currently. Plus it will make it easier when more ARMY show up and want to watch all your BTS reactions. Some like other KPOP groups as well, though most of us don't.
There will be so much music to listen to and ARMY will recommend tons more, but I like to recommend listening to Born Singer early on. It was written shortly after their debut back in 2013 on the beat of JCole's Born Sinner. It gives a good representation of their overall mindset and demonstrates just one of the ways the vocals and rap meld together. This stage mix juxtaposes their early performance with one they did about 5 years later and is a fan fave, as you will see by the number of views. Also, JCole met JHope in 2022 when Hope headlined Lollapallooza concert in Chicago. in Korean culture they write the family name first then the person's name. So, his name is Namjoon. Kim (family or clan name) Mamnoon (his name given to him at birth).
Not Kim...Kim Namjoon...first name Namjoon....the last name is listed first in Korea...Three of them have the last name of Kim

J Hope before he enlisted for his national service had a record breaking debut solo concert in Chicago LOLLAPALOOZA 100,000+ and despite the majority of the lyrics in korean the crowd did not thin in the final quarter. Solos try MORE and ARSON. I think you will realise his style is alot harder recent years. All the rap line and Jimin have their masters degrees now. All in subjects relating to the business side, like business and marketing etc. Though RM is always mentioned as a genius Jimin post army training has been put in a position normally given to maths and physics graduates. When you look closely at the decisions made by this group you begin to see the intelligence and creativity that has allowed them to beat all odds.
They are all very smart indeed. Whether it be intellectually or emotionally, they never cease to amaze me with their wits and wise words!
J-Hope had a main stage at Lolla but that is a little over an hour not a full solo concert.

@@ruthfischer7615 I asked Google on my mini so I suppose no? But it seemed oddly specific and believable given their backgrounds and affinity with academic study. For instance we know Jimin was always academically minded.
Don't know about actual degree, but there have been a couple of times during In the Soop where Suga was interrupted during watching on-line lectures.
@@mplahke . Though TAYLOR MARI GUIDE TO THE BANGTAN 7 is a little dated this was group researched and cross checked, and they all had degrees then. There has been various mentions over the years including Jin denigrating his OWN intelligence and someone refuted what he was saying they mentioned his degree was from a proper Seoul University whereas the rest of BTS were forced to use a distance learning programme( similar to Britains Open University) for their degrees. I am under the impression and I really cannot remember where I picked it up or how valid it was but that Jungkook being allowed to direct one of their music videos was part of his. As I said I cannot remember where I gained that impression so until its confirmed take it as unsubstantiated gossip.

However when Exceleste gives examples of the many hardships of BTS, organised hate campaigns death threats racism, , etc she does not point out all this happened when they were over worked often injured, grieving ill or in pain. Perhaps the most interesting is BORACITY WHY THE INDUSTRY IS TERRIFIED OF BTS as it gives an insight into the prevalent corruption that affects not only BTS.
