If you have healthcare, please go to a licensed physical therapist. My therapist massaged my biceps, triceps, forearm, wrist, palm and fingers. He used a sonogram, then hot wax. After one session, I was able to straighten out my finger from 70% to 85% (I could not believe the results). He told me to do exercises like the ones mentioned in the video. Get professional help and if they only speak of surgery or you don't see improvement, move on to find some who can actually help you.

It is not a disease of the tendons as you state. It is a thickening of the connective tissue in the palm. If you can’t get that right, how can you suggest ‘treatment’?

Thank you for your information. I can't begin to imagine that a balm can have any effect at all. And how can you stretch your fingers back as suggested in the video if you....have a condition that your fingers bend in...???

An orthopedic surgeon here in The United States just this month told me that hand stretching exercises for Dupuytren's sufferers risks accelerating the condition. So I am confused by Dupuytren's stretching videos. I have read a similar warning elsewhere.
She further said ring finger on either hand has only about 1/3 chance of success responding to injection, so surgery on that finger is the preferred treatment if warranted. She advised since my ring finger has not contracted enough to stop me from putting my hand in my pocket, to put off surgery until it does.
Also, she said it is both a progressive and a hereditary condition for certain caucasian ethnicities, and will likely continue progression. Some factors, such as a long term job with a lot of hand vibration, and or alcohol use, can trigger it.
She said injections have a much higher success rate on middle finger contractions than ring finger injections. But surgery typically requires several weeks recuperation away from using the affected hand, that injections do not.
She recommended a few radiation treatments on my palm with Dupuytren's lumps without finger contracture, but said such treatment is too late for my palm with the partially contracted ring finger.
Nothing can be done for the lumps apparently, and if you get them, you die with them. Wearing padded bicycle gloves can help ease pressure discomfort on the palm lumps for some hand tasks.

i watched another video which states that it can be treated with injections of enzymes that dissolve the lumps or whatever you call them ......... I wouldn't have any radiation - i will see if there are any doctors locally who do the enzyme treatment .

That is correct diet alo Vera gel is the only thing that reduces symptoms.
These exercises have no scientific research to back these claims.
      None what so ever.

This looks like a bit of a scam to me. Is the balm supposed to impact the faceitomomy?

@Norway441 I'M pushing for the injection before my hand gets worse, I work with my hands and surgery will put me out of action for over a month and I can't afford that.

I can’t have surgery as the keloid scarring would be worse. I want Xiaflex but our insurance won’t cover the shocking $6,000. ,! There is the Xiaflex enzyme fix but only rich people can afford it. I have tried a year of stretches and every cream in the market. Still worsening! It’s genetic twisting of the tendon no external balm is going to fix that!

Yes plus the stretching but the earlier in the disease the better - it will not reverse marked deformity but we believe it prevents progression

  • @grantfrith9589

What an annoying condition and very little information on what causes it. I'm refusing to accept that this can't be completely cured. I'm trying everything I can think of to reverse it. I've tried rubbing in vitamin E, oscillating ice and heat to the lesions and vinegar poultice.
So far using a coffee cup with boiled water to roll against the lumps appears to have softened it somewhat due to the ability to concentrate the heat directly.
If anyone else has even small reversals please share it here. Maybe a few ideas used together we might get lucky .

There’s no knowing stretching actually helps or not, massage and stretching might help you feel better but don’t expect it to cure or prevent the condition.

Thank you for taking time to respond to our post. As you point out the hand on the vides does not have advanced Dupuytren's but there is clearly early nodularity and slight contracture - it's at this stage the massage, stretching and balm has most effect - as it will keep it at this stage proventing progression

But keep going my friend, what I’m hearing is that it’s only soft tissue so with gentle continuous exercise and stretching and such it can shift. Look out for other videos emphasising stretching the relevant nerves by moving the head with arm and wrist outstretched. Tension on then tension off. I believe the whole nerve stretching will benefit.

I don't have near the range of motion in my wrists and hands that the gentleman in the video was demonstrating. Massaging my hands does help alleviate the stiffness along with night extension with a splint.

I was told by my doctors that the progression of Dupuytrens takes its own course and that it cannot be prevented by our behavioral interventions. So this video title, at the very least is disconcerting and or misleading. At least based on my experience.
