  • Randy Newberg is back to his favorite Black Bear hunting locations; Southeast Alaska. With him is long time friend and hunting partner, Mike Spitzer, and seasoned field producer, Marcus Hockett. This is Mike's first black bear hunt in Alaska and hopefully one to remember.
Two big bruins. Two happy hunters. Double the fun for half the effort. The islands of Tongass National Forest provide some of the best hunting on the planet, all accessible to the adventurous hunter.

With all that you do with Marcus and all that he brings to the table, he is just your camera guy? "Marcus, stud of the woods, confidant, master of all, insperational source of light and BEAR spotter will be joining us". And to think I ran into Corey Jacobson and all I did was say how great the two of you are together. lol. You guys rock.

My dream hunt unfolded in front of me . I've worked for 40 years. Randy you have inspired me. I hope I can pull a hunt like yours off. I've hunted deer and elk most of my life but my buddies wont go to Alaska. I guess if it has to be it's up to me. I will do this solo. Thanks for your show. Long time viewer. Retiring from law enforcement next spring. What a way to celebrate my career

Mr. Newberg, I really appreciate the content you and your team put out, and from the looks of it, your having a great time doing it (minus the occasional liver flare up). I’m actually sitting here recovering from my own kidney surgery and seeing you not missing a beat really inspires and motivates me to continue not slow down. Your videos always make me want to increase my days in the woods and on the water, and to enjoy this beautiful planet and all the wonderful (and delicious 😁) critters God put on it for us. Keep doing what you do sir, I’m a loyal fan.

Funny my friend Casey and I got our first black bear out of Petersburg this past June. My buddy Jim Kerr is the chief of police up there and took us out and we got a double too our first day out hunting. We saw 7 bears in one day. Didn’t even bother going out in the morning they all come out in the evening. One of the most beautiful places to hunt on the planet and the fishing’s world class too !

Randy, This was an amazing hunt story! I give you a lot of credit for being able to pull off a self guided hunt in this kind of wilderness! That said, as much as I love and shoot NOSLER bullets, the little 140 Gr. bullet on BIG BEARS? I would have opted for my .300 Weatherby magnum with 180 grain, or better yet my .375 H & H with .300 grain Winchester silvertips! All I could think of was man how good would a HOT shower feel in this weather? Great job Randy and Mike.

so don’t you carry a handgun in the bush when you go after a shot bear?
when we’re looking for a shot wild boar in the bush we usually take handgun for easier handle.
it’s kind of dream a hunt like you can do over there.
thx for all the videos and ethic you and your friends put into the hunting videos.

Hi Randy. I really enjoy your hunting shows. I appreciate the fact that you self guide your hunts & try to teach your viewers to do the same. I noticed both you & your companions use a unique rifle sling that allows the rifle to hang in front of you where it is easily accessible (when wearing a pack). What is the name of that sling & who makes it?

We left out of Ketchikan on a 42” boat. Motored at 15 knots. Found a nice little spot around Cape Chacon and anchored. Dropped the Ridged into the water and went ashore on a muskeg. Got no more than 200 yards in and bam 😂

Lol. That’s not really hunting. It’s camping where bear populations are outrageous and picking which one to shoot. You didn’t track, have to really work and you had nice hot meals. There was no real suffering. It looks fun though.
