- We love the clean utilitarian lines of the INEOS Grenadier and Quartermaster interior. We also love the BMW B58 engine. That said, the shifter (out of a BMW Z4) looks far to modern and out of place.
The shift knob/stalk can be swapped with a simpler-looking version from a Toyota Supra. The Supra shifter fits much better with the lines and look of the INEOS interior.

That looks fantastic and matches perfectly to the low range knob! I wonder why Inneos never used the Toyota part seeing it is the same transmission and was already in production. It looks like that is how it was meant to be from day one!

Nice job! I thought the same thing. Swapping the gear lever. Forgot about the Supra, so I had the mini Cooper gear lever in mind.
I think your vid really helps and I do like the Supra shifter much better. As soon as Ineos gets the diesel engine I’m an instant buyer.
They do have a Diesel engine, but it’s not available in the states, unfortunately.

Awesome stuff! Think it’s feasible to use a heat gun to soften the glue on the Grenadier’s shifter? I’d rather not Hulk Smash it loose XD
Great video and I love your Grenadier back door handle. And I just ordered the hood release handle. I want to do the same. When you were lifting off the BMW shifter it seemed stuck. Is it glued? If not glued, can you just twist it to loosen it up? I just want to be very, very careful with the cable tape and not break it.
Yes it was stuck. It isn’t glued and does not twist. The post is not round so it only goes up and down. Maybe have someone hold down slightly on it while you pry up on it.

probably ineos will design a shiftknob themself for the facelift, if the grenadier remeains a success.
Very similar shifter operation to products from Land Rover, Alfa Romeo, and the 2024 Iveco Daily vans, all which have the ZF 8HP transmission. It's possible that ZF manufactures the shifters for each brands to their individual aesthetic.
The Land Rover one is a pain. The safety catch is on the top on the backside of the lever, but it's a button not a trigger. The amount of times I didn't press the button hard enough for it to release - never had that with any other brand!

You’d think you could just pull the interior panel and swap the entire shift module out, rather than take everything apart? Or is it not the same?

mmm it is just a gear lever, I personally do not care what it looks like.
Looks better, but unnecessary. I literally never look at my shifter when I’m driving. I’m of the mind why change things for aesthetics value only? If a mod enhances the utility or capabilities of a vehicle, great. Otherwise changing things because it “looks better” as the only justification. Meh. I’d rather just go out and spend the time using the truck instead.
BMW shifter looks more contemporary and sport. Supra lacks both contemporary and sportiness. It looks like a frumpy rectangle with no style. Very typical of Japanese designs of the past and present.
Think that’s the point the BMW shifter looks like a girls stilettos 👠 in vehicle that made for boots
