  • Finland knot at its best. I rate this knot the second best after the Perfection knot.

    Same as the non-slip look knot, just with that extra step coming back through. The reason I don't like that last step is because the tag end of the knot faces forward, and thus can snag vegetation on the retrieve. The non-slip loop knot, because it doesn't have that last step, results in the tag end faces backward, and therefore cannot snag on the retrieve.

      Agree with you if ur fishing in weeds or brush or marshes. However, if you are fishing where there are no objects to snag on, this 'improved' Rapala Loop knot will be better.

      How does it work better. That's the question that we all should be asking. Does the lure respond any differently with these different loop knots? Doubt it...

      Depends where and how you're fishing really, the rapalla knot is also stronger.

    Wouldn't it be better to use 2 split rings and a swivel, to prevent line twist?

    I do it the same way you do but I don't go through the loop again the second time that makes you tag and point forward or straight up and then that's how you catch the break if you're fixing some weedy areas I do it so the tag end of the knot is going back through the Loop behind you and pointing towards the lure inside the loop

    I use this one but master it by making a smaller loop- close to the lure. It does great. Thanks!

    Great video! I use a snap also on jerbaits and squarebills so I get more erratic movements.

    The only thing I’m worried about is the line rubbing on the bill…as long as the bill isn’t damaged it should be fine though

    These 3 knots you showed are a WEED Magnets!!! Be mindful of the Tag end...it should exit toward the lure NOT forward or Sideways...i know its been 5 years since first posted but never tooo late to learn

    I prefer the perfection lefty kreh loop, and I make a smaller loop, so it doesn’t get stuck on the hooks, and the knot goes cleaner through grass or debris 👍🙌🎣 The Rapala knot looks like a clinch knot combined with the loop knot 🤷🏻‍♂️ main purpose is for a better action with your lure or jig.
    You have a great channel and tutorials 👍✊😎😜🎣

    Thanks, but the loop is too big and hooks will snag. Need to get the loop smaller and closer to hook eye.

    Have you tried the loop knot where you make an overhand knot, go through the eye and back through the loop and then tie a Uni knot on top of that. Very easy loop knot but I don't know the name of it.

    Go through the loop down not up then tighten. All you need to do. Tag faces down... wont hang grass etc. Plus I make the loop small. Wont tangle on your hook.

    • @J33-v5j
      @J33-v5j 5 років тому +2

      No, I use this knot a lot and never have any trouble with the lure getting tangled up. This knot allows the lure to wobble more freely than with a clinch or trilene knot.

  • @markquinones9707

    I love the rapala split minnow lure but I myself wouldnt use that knot that lure to me needs freedom so it can work as lively as it can. I think anything extra like that space between the knot would throw its movement off course. How about taking that knot all the way to the metal no space in between without the shoe string knot but the hangman knot. Which would be the know you see when you buy hooks

    • @markquinones9707

    • @BenNorway
      @BenNorway  5 років тому

      Hangman knot - sweet. Possibly tricky with thin lines and many wraps but the good thing is that you can work it freely and then tighten is down. I use the Rapala to do exactly what you say - maximal throw it off course.

    • @livenhfree
      @livenhfree 3 роки тому

      You want your spinner baits to have freedom to move naturally. Same as with flies. The loop is a good solution.

    • @watchman316ly
      @watchman316ly 4 роки тому +2

      You're missing out. I used to think that too until I tried it. It truly makes the jerk baits, jig head hooks, and even on straight shank hooks have more movements. I use clips on big lures but when it comes to smaller lures- this is the way to go.

    Why do it simple when you can do it complicated

  • @mu4990
    @mu4990 Рік тому +1

    Waaaaay too complex, a simple Bowline (loop knot) is MORE THAN enough, add an extra twist or two if you want up the main line, but going back and forth and all that is useless. We drag heavy equipment up to the ceiling with Bowline knots in the theater world, they're more than enough for a fish.
