Hey! Thank you so much for watching this week's vlog and for being part of the journey 🙏 We can't believe we have 3000 subs already, we really really appreciate your support so THANK YOU!! In this weeks episode, we asked for some music and podcast recommendations to get on during the build... We'd love to hear what you enjoy listening to! Silly little tip ~ Why not place an old blanket or whatever inside the bath tub, and place all of your tools in there. Then you'll always know there the tools are when you need them, including the extra blades, screws, etc. In other words always, always have a designated place for all of the needed tools and other items. Being organized will save you precious minutes, even hours. Your friend, 'Tool-less Tilly' 😂🛠
This would be far too organised though wouldn't it 😆 This is a good tip and definitely something we should be doing! A designated tool station must happen 🛠️
I was cracking-up with the violin music (empathy) portion... LOL! A really good podcast is called: Sentientism, with Jamie Woodhouse; & yesterday, I started an audio book you may like: The Lost Rainforest of Britain by Guy Shrubsole (I read books mostly, but enjoy audio books too, for when I'm doing chores or other things I'd rather not be doing!). Anyway, The Lost Rainforest, etc.is very interesting; it's about the fact that the UK should, and did at one point, make-up what are temperate rainforests on earth (there are a few on the west coast of the Americas, one in New Zealand, etc. in total, 1% of earth is a temperate rainforest). 20% of UK should be and was a rainforest. Now, there are crumbs left... it's very interesting anyway! Good luck with the floor!! And good job moving that heavy stove!! x
Thank you Donna! Some weeks just get a bit frustrating you know 😆 We are enjoying ourselves and it's great when things finally come together. If I see another floorboard however... 🤣

Have laid a lot of reclaimed parquet flooring, cleaning is a bore. We used to clean all the flooring first and then lay it. That way each you can concentrate on just laying the floor, greater selection of boards to chose from, and less cutting. Sounds pedantic but it speeded up the process. Enjoying the videos, hats off for kitting it out yourselves.
Ah reclaimed parquet is a chore isn't it! We used it on our kitchen worktop in our original boat, can't imagine having to clean a whole floor's worth! Good tip thank you - we should be using this flooring in the bedroom so we'll give it a go then! Anything to speed up the process 😅
He's great isn't he! Honestly, my go to artist to pop on at the moment. Also love that he did Digging For Britain.. Did that come before or after Detectorists?!

@@thistinylife You’re welcome - I hope you enjoy them and they help pass the time whilst you’re using up the plasters in your boat build! Good luck with it and thank you for sharing your progress with us 😊
Great ,wonderful.. come what may these memories ..good and bad ..will live with you both and make you smile for your whole life nothing like making a home together best wishes
Hi! That bath will cause you a lot of problems in the future with water going down the side, i think your best option is to forget the bath and go for a shower it will give you more height clearance for a shower head, also you will be able to seal it properly with sealant, i have seen too many narrowboat's with rotten floors due to a bath being fitted. another thing is water consumption, 1 bath full of water = an empty water tank and a visit to the water point to fill up. Loving the use of reclaimed flooring, seems to be coming on nicely 🙃🙃🙃
I think you might be right! But we shall see. Our original boat has a small bath and we had to completely replace the flooring in there. Water was getting beneath the vinyl and everything was rotten. It seems to be ok now but we also make sure to have a shower curtain that pretty much wraps entirely around the tub... Water consumption, we're quite lucky that our winter mooring spot has a water point in easy reach.. So the plan was for the occasional luxurious bath haha!
Yep, when my hubby just washes his hands, water goes everywhere. Just being careless really. I wish UA-cam would let us post pictures with our comments. Well, maybe it’s good they don’t 😆
Love the floor, and the old paint on it looks like it's from an old school gym floor I think. Don't underpraise yourselves, it's not an easy job you have taken on. Easy listing play list? Mike oldfield, tubular bells and omidawn are good, or tangerine dream, or newer, Jean Michael Jarre .
I'm quite relieved that you didn't hurt your self at your 🐎🐎 moving action and more even astonished that you managed it in your " how you would call it? " shoes, slippers. I would recommend proper boots with more grip. Keep on going you three maybe Tilly should help you the next time. 😉
Yes I agree... My pair of tatty Tom's aren't the best! They're many many years old as you can probably tell haha! Once the stove was on the bulk of the flooring with some mats under the wood offcuts it moved pretty easily! Agree about Tilly... I reckon she thinks she's project managing 🤣
Thank you!! Ahhh amazing, had a sneaky listen to Andrew Bird...and regret regret from The Buffalo Skinners, both sound great we'll start making our way through their tracks! Thank you 🙌
The stove and bath look so huge on the boat! Hopefully they will be wonderful once it’s all finished though. Congratulations on the floor progress - you need the patience of a saint to fit all those narrow strips!
Don't they... It should hopefully blend in a lot more when the other bits and pieces all get built up around it! You're definitely right about the flooring, it takes SO LONG! We're so nearly done 🤞
I can't believe what I am seeing, use a scrap piece of flooring and hit that so you don't damage the flooring you are fitting. Ask if anyone has some old roller skates to put on the 4 corners of the stove for ease of moving next time 😃😃
The roller skates are a great idea, why did we not think of that! And yeh, normally I do use a scrap piece of flooring to tap... Sometimes though there's not one around and a little gentle nudge with the mallet is all that's needed. The tongues are fairly tatty anyway so it doesn't make a huge difference!
Not that I’m doubting the “horse moving” method… but why not try furniture moving runners, small platforms with wheels that go under the stove legs??? 😂
Try getting some old heavy curtains or nice thick heavy fabric and put it under your stove. It will make it easier to slide and will save your flooring that you are working hard to put down.
Great tip! We did try to find some old blankets, but don't have any in our other boat... So had to go with this method! Couldn't borrow any as we'd end up getting them so mucky in the dust of Artichoke at the moment
I understand your pain and frustration, having renovated a boat before! You guys are so brave to take on a sail away! I'm very much enjoying watching your progress. It's going to be beautiful when it's done! PS is it bad to say I enjoyed you both moving the stove? It brought a smile to my face on a Monday morning before work!
Hahaha I'm pleased our pain has brought a smile to your face 😉 Thank you for watching! It does sometimes feel like a huge uphill journey, also because we're having to learn as we go! But, we're enjoying it... Even if it looks like a dogs dinner at the end, it'll be our dogs dinner 😅

Hey Helen - thank you so much ✨ we'll have a listen to your artists - thanks for the recommendation! Just don't copy our timelines and deadlines, they're not so great to be motivated by 🤣
We should be ok, we're currently very high in the water. The electric motor we're installing doesn't weigh as much as a diesel engine, although the batteries might make up for that difference. Currently the chine is out the water at the stern so a fair bit of weight needs to be added once the motor is installed
Next time you move the stove, take one of your floorboards and put it under both back legs. Take another floorboard and put it under both front legs. That’s a total of two Borge. Now you get to pick up the end like you did on the video and put a small pipe under it and roll it halfway back under the stove. Take a second pipe and put it under the edge of the stove so it theaters level on them. Now you can roll the stove from one end to the other but you will have to keep moving one of the pipes from back to front. It’ll work best if you can have three or four pipes to do this with. PVC sprinkler pipe will work or electrical. Metal conduit will really work nice. Good luck.
This is a great idea! Similar to how the Egyptians are meant to have moved the stone for the pyramids. Will keep it in mind next time we have to move the bloomin' thing 🙂
I really like to make my porridge cold the evening before. By that I mean I add my oats to a container and I add the water/milk so it can soak in overnight. I’ll also add sultanas cause I like them to be fat and juicy 🙂, and various nuts, cinnamon nutmeg and seeds to my liking. I will add any fruit in the morning. Before I add the fruit I give the soaked mixture a really good stir - this seems to make the porridge extra creamy which I love. I’ll then put it on the stove top to warm up, add berries and/or banana and grated apple - yum. In the past I would make a big sealed container of soaked oats so that it could last for a few days in the fridge for easy use. I’m not ashamed to say that I would eat porridge at all times of the day and night. What’s not to love? The soaking overnight and giving it a really good stir prior to cooking and adding fruit really makes all the difference I think. Hi Guys, Love the vlog, I have only seen a few of your videos but you are doing amazing stuff. I built a sail boat ⛵ years ago but have recently had to sell up and stop sailing away☹. considering my future options I may see you on calmer waters some day. You ask for music recomendations. I just LOVE the group "Runrig" especially "The Mighty Atlantic" I play it several times on the trot and just 'CHILL OUT'. Good luck and fair winds. (Oh you don't need them).
As commendable your enthusiastic endeavours the big issue is if the hull steel has not been shot blasted inside and outside before protection application then mill scale left on the steel holds moisture that eventually pits rust through. To compound this physics event spray foam insulation adds moisture. Builders of boats don't address these basic build faults because of cost and they want boats to rust so they can build more.
Hey guys, thanks for the vlog …Love how the boat is taking shape..hoping you can finish this project..I saw a comment about installing the tub, not sure what your plans are??? But have concerns on what you are or are not planning for the tub installation? Looking forward to seeing more progress😊
We're sort of working out the best steps really. It was always going to be a big learning curve... If I can adjust the feet the bath should fit... Things might get rejigged a little. That's next weeks problem to workout haha!
We will be yes! Any tips on the best way to go about it? I figured it would be easier to install the floor first and then cut through the whole lot... Any tips greatly appreciated though!!
If that stove weighed 300kg there is no way on earth you could have lifted one end, as that would have been 150kg, sorry kid you have been duped, or you are trying to dupe everyone else.
Hey! You've made me question this now... But having googled the model - Esse Ironheart it comes up as 370kg. We've stripped the doors off and the cast iron plate on the top to make it a little lighter www.esse.com/wood-fired-cook-stoves/ironheart-wood-fired-cook-stove/
@@thistinylife many thanks for getting back to me, yes I appreciate the original weight, however you stripped out all the internal bars and fire bricks as well as doors and the heavy top, you were probably left with only 200kg ( which is still very heavy ), so lifting half of it was only 100kg, as you can see on the video you actually were standing on your toes not even flat footed, so yes it was lighter, however it was still a very massive task for you and your girl to achieve, and I am glad that there are still youngsters about who are willing to do this kind of work, you should both be proud of yourselves for what you are achieving. Have you thought about removing the Bath feet and putting the waste trap beneath the floor, this would give you more height for the shower. Keep it up you are doing well.
Thank you!! On reading a few comments, i think the human horse method should have been replaced with some sort of roller blades on each leg of the stove 😅 Still... It worked! Haha Thank you for the recommendation, we shall check him out!

I just LOVE the group "Runrig" especially "The Mighty Atlantic" I play it several times on the trot and just 'CHILL OUT'. Good luck and fair winds. (Oh you don't need them).
Really loving the videos guys! Such a great informative yet relaxing watch :)
🙏 THANK YOU XXXXX
Looks like you two innovative clever clogs are doing a grand job!!! No profanities either wow!!!
Hey Chris! Thank you so much for your comment 🙂 We’re getting there little by little haha
As commendable your enthusiastic endeavours
the big issue is
if the hull steel has not been shot blasted inside and outside before protection application then mill scale left on the steel holds moisture that eventually pits rust through.
To compound this physics event spray foam insulation adds moisture.
Builders of boats don't address these basic build faults because of cost and they want boats to rust so they can build more.
Vashti Bunyan for your playlist!
Oooh will have a listen! Thanks for the recommendation 🙏
I like You're Dead to Me, BBC podcast for some history education
Yes! Great podcast and presented in such a good way! I've only caught bits on Radio 4 so will have to hunt out the pod 📻
psychedelic muse is a good music on their youtube channel, just recently got into it and its good music
Great will give it a listen thank you! ✨
👍
Thank you for watching 🙏

Welcome to the 🐴 club!
Good grief!
It would have been a lot easier if you had a couple of dollies with wheels under the stove.
It would, if we had some 🙂
You need a bath that has adjustable feet. Whilst appreciate the period fitting, they aren't always designed to fit in small spaces
It was such a bargain though 😅 I think we'll be able to find some adjustable feet, we'll see! Everything tends to get adapted to work with the space
Nice team work...are you installing access hatch's in the floor?
We will be yes! Any tips on the best way to go about it? I figured it would be easier to install the floor first and then cut through the whole lot... Any tips greatly appreciated though!!
As a minimum, One at the stern off the boat where all those annoying leaks seem to end up..
Hi guys!! Another week with an amazing video. But my favourite part was 🚶🏻♂️💨 ups…🤭 sorry 😅😂
Hahaha we were in two minds with whether or not to keep that in! It made us laugh every time we watched it back... So in it went!
You made the best decision. As a good Spanish that I am, these things are very funny for us. so why not put it on video? 🤣😂😅
Probably too late now but rent a dolly or skates to put under the stove. Then wheel it where ever you want.
Next time borrow 4 skate boards or a dolly trolly 😀
Skate boards - great idea and much more fun 😅
Horse 🐴🐎🐴🐎🐴🐎🐴🐎🐴
Damn did you make me laugh
Hahaha that's good! I'm not sure if I want to know which part of the video cracked you up most! 😅
put it on rollers like movers do
We have had someone else suggest roller skates... Which I reckon is a GREAT idea!

Oh wow! Loadsa recommendations here! Thank you 🙏 we'll have a listen!
Oh my god you must learn health and safety . You are going to wreck your body
Hello guys. I'm a big fan of your vlog and the human horse method🦄. You might enjoy tuning into a bit of Michael Chapman.....
Thank you!! On reading a few comments, i think the human horse method should have been replaced with some sort of roller blades on each leg of the stove 😅 Still... It worked! Haha Thank you for the recommendation, we shall check him out!

N.B I realise this vlog, and by extension your request for recommendations is a year or more old, BUT, I really think that you both could enjoy the “Anthropocene Reviewed”.
At least I hope you do.
Either way, thank you.
