    Welcome to my channel! This is a music reaction channel. For the longest time, I've loved creating content on the internet. I started off with a gaming channel right here on UA-cam, which eventually turned into a Twitch gaming channel, but as time has gone on I've evolved into doing other things on UA-cam. For years now I've wanted to create a music channel on UA-cam, and recently just figured "why not?", so it’s time to give this a go! Give me any suggestion you have for music reactions, and I will do my best to get around to them. As music has fallen further out of my life, I figured this would be a great time to get reintroduced to music.

    What story? Mondays suck! Everybody knows that.
    Anything can happen and if it's bad, it's usually on a Monday; like waking up early to go to work or your girlfriend bailing on you.
    Even The Carpenters had a song saying "rainy days and Mondays always get me down".

    Yes! Mama’s & Papa’s!!!!! Great harmonies! Super talented! They have tons of amazing songs! Creeque Alley is very good & it tells their story as a band. In it you hear other people mentioned that they were around who went into other bands. Like Sebastian..(Lovin’ Spoonful) McGuinn .. (Byrds) McGuire…(song Eve of Destruction) Cass has an incredible voice. Many great songs.. I also love “Go where you wanna go.” Thanks Shawn! 😀

    My dad turned me on to these four when I was still a youngin. Have loved great harmonies ever since.
    Fun fact: If John Phillips (one of the Papas) recollection is to be trusted, they were all trippin' balls when they recorded this, and pretty much everything else they put down on vinyl. Vitamin A for the win!

    The Mamas & the Papas were a great folk rock group in the 60's. I had their records. They were known for their smooth harmonies. They had lots of great hits such as "Dedicated To The One I Love", "Words Of Love", "Dancing In The Street", "Look Through My Window", "Creeque Alley", "Twelve Thirty (Young Girls Are Coming to the Canyon)", "Safe In My Garden", "I Saw Her Again" etc. Mama Cass Elliot went solo & had a big hit with "Dream A Little Dream Of Me".

  • @papercup2517
    @papercup2517 6 місяців тому +1

    I especially love the Mamas and the Papas' Twelve Thirty (Young Girls are Coming to the Canyon), and John Phillips' gorgeous arrangement for them of the Beatles/ Lennon-McCartney's I Call Your Name. It's extremely rare that I like a Beatles cover even better than the original, but this is one exception.
    There's some lovely footage of the Ms & the Ps at the legendary Monterey Pop (a pre-Woodstock festival organised by John Phillips), although their performance was plagued (as so often in live performance in those days) by dodgy audio/ equipment failure. Still, you can get something of the feel of the times - quite magical...so full of hope and beauty. Other 'live' performances of theirs are usually just lip-synced TV shows, including one where Michelle Phillips famously ate a banana on stage, in protest against the practice enforced on them (since it made it only too obvious she wasn't actually singing...! 😀

    They weren't around long, but man were they good. Part of the reason why the mid 60's were so amazing. Their vocals were perfect, and the production was great. It's very different hearing this (anything, really) through headphones. The vocals are so much 'bigger'.

    Spring 1966. Those were the days. back then music was on A.M. radio, more variety than specialty music. I call today's endless radio channels segregated radio to keep the people apart. Back them we had Rock, Motown, Pop. Only thing separate was country music.

    I have no back story or side notes except it’s just weird that this song was their only #1 hit. Catchy, I guess, middle-of-the-road, but not their best or most intriguing song. Yes, also check out Young Rascals “Good Lovin’” -which had an even more dramatic pregnant pause. It was amazing, a much faster song, the song made you count out the beats of the pause in your head, so you knew exactly when it slammed back at you. Very unique. It literally grabs your attention.

    Not really, the song never made a lot of sense to me, either, but oh, those harmonies! I do want to mention that the '67 Monterrey Pop Festival was so loaded with talent and iconic performances - it's worth watching the movie. Just about any of the individual song videos would make a great reaction. It seems like everyone there had the greatest respect for everyone else, too. Jimi Hendrix can be seen in the crowd at several of the other shows. There's a wonderful shot of Mama Cass Eliot in the front row watching Janis Joplin with a look of awe on her face. Looking at that movie a few years later and wishing I could have been there, but I was twelve at the time, on the east coast, studying hard for my bar mitzvah that year.
