Anybody who has watched this live performance has witnessed musical perfection in every way, the location , the song , the vocals , the orchestra etc you name it, you wont hear better R.I.P Gary Brooker M.B.E
What a gift to have this performance from him! We are losing all our greats but so glad we can watch them like this. This means a lot to us that saw him sing this when it was first released 😢💔
The studio version of this song in the 60's was great but this live version is stupendous as it is enriched by the orchestra and choir. Gary Brooker's voice aged like a fine wine. R.I.P. Gary.
One of the best compositions of our time both lyrically & instrumentally mixed with Gary Brooker's passionate delivery...whew... One for the ages...❤🎶🎤
This is one of the greatest live performances of all-time, by ANYONE. Nice reaction brother, great music moves us to tears. ✌️Don’t ever stop doing this. Thanks
This is the most perfectly performed piece of music I've ever seen captured. All contributors are perfect, yielding a piece of art that stands alone. Incredibly powerful.
LATE COMMENT: One of my all-time favorite songs. Just driving in my car, I know I wore out at least two cassette tapes listening to Procol Harum and this song. The strings in the orchestra just makes this even more emotional for me.
How is this possible? His voice has become even better than when he was young! I've always loved this song but this performance always makes me cry. Great reaction, Shawn!❤
Way better - the voice - the orchestra that Gary Brooker himself has arranged .The Sound of my teens. The orchestra is sublime and thank god I am danish so I can hear them on many occasions.
For a song written so long ago to endure, shows how great a song it is! It's so nice to see someone brought to tears by a song, it says that you have beauty in your soul!
Dude, you're just 6 months in and have over 10,000 subscribers... you are doing REALLY WELL! Your channel will only continue to grow. I like that you try and learn about the songs and the artists/bands when you listen to the music, very few reactors do that (SalvoG and that's about it). It really makes you stand out from the pack and it makes the people who share the music with you feel that their suggestions aren't in vain and are appreciated. Also, there's never a need to feel embarrassed for feeling the music. As a musician, I can tell you it is the highest compliment you can give, to actually see that you've touched someone with your art.
Thank you for being so real with your emotions. It makes your reactions much more real and believable. Emotions close to the surface happens more and more as we age. Music has brought me to tears at least once a day for the past 60 years.
So glad you did this one.... This has got to be the most powerful performance of this timeless classic. Gets my eyes 'leaking' every time too. Gary's voice sounded just as great until his passing. thanks Gary. R.I.P.
Wasn’t that absolutely fantastic!! I was a teenager when that came out along with Sgt Pepper the same year and what a year it was. So lucky to have lived through those times and quite honestly, nothing will ever be able to compare. We lived through the most incredible time of music etc. 😊❤️👍
I really miss music when it was sung with heart and soul. No auto-tune, no light production, or anything that distracts from great, great vocals. One of my favorite songs.
Don’t feel that you need to explain why this song moves you. Same for me - there’s something about the vocals and keyboards that hits deep. Gets me every time.
It makes you cry because you're the kind of person for whom music is an emotional experience. You "feel" the music. It impacts you. That makes you the best kind of music listener. Lots of music makes me cry because the feelings can be intense. This song does it to me every single time. As for your channel, give it some time. You're one of the best music reactors out there and your followers really like you, myself included. In fact, I have unsubscribed to other music reactors who seem fake or superficial or "overreact" like it's all an act for them. Give it time and continue being your real self. You're genuine and really listen and passionately experience the music. That's why we all love you and your channel. I'm confident it will eventually get bigger and take off the way you want it to.
This is very well-said. I too have unsubscribed to quite a few reactors lately. But Shawn, your reactions are great. Don't feel discouraged...sometimes things take longer than we expect.
After 60 years i still get emotional. Its not stupid. Great music does that. This is in my top 10 for the last 60 years. He sounds as good as he did when he first sang it. 5:38
Shawn I’ve been watching reactions back since the beginning of Covid. Yours, by far are, the best I’ve seen. You invest time in the music and learning about as much as possible. Don’t apologize for emotion. I wish more people had it in this day and age. And I hope you continue on this journey.
Hey Shawn...great, truthful reaction. Love the honest emotion. Beautiful song, great show and Gary Brooker's vocals...fabulous. I still weep to this song 50 years later...🎤🎶😥
I love that you are moved to tears, Shawn ~ it's wonderful to know your heart is touched so deeply. You can't see us ~ but lots of others are shedding tears of Joy right along with you! 🥰😭💗 I don't know what production work entails, I wish you the best in deciding what steps to take next. And selfishly hope you continue, even if you do fewer reactions to reduce the workload. 💟☮
For a plus for your channel, I subscribe to about a dozen reaction channels, and You Tube has moved you to the top of my list, meaning I watch more of yours than the others. And 10K after 6 months is actually pretty good.
I was 10 years old when this came out. I didn’t get it - not really. I just knew it filled my soul and made me cry. All grown up, I did a little excavation, and I understood. Brilliant music.
I've never seen your channel before. This might be one of the best reactions I've ever seen. For one thing, you don't keep stopping the music. You don't talk over the music. You don't try to sing along. It's like you actually get it. Thanks.
No Shawn, it's the song. This rendition is a masterpiece. I'm baking in my kitchen with a smooth bourbon on a Saturday night, listening to this song. I'm not crying, you're crying!
You're a fine reactor, Shawn. No particular reason that I can see which might explain your lack of, "catching on". I've seen bunches of reactors and you can certainly hold your own with most any of them. Just this one persons opinion, for whatever it's worth.
Coming up on the anniversary of the death of my beloved of 45 years, this outstanding version made my tears all the more bittersweet. This is the most beautiful version of this otherworldly song I have ever heard. Thank you my friend for bringing this to us. May the New Year bring us joy and peace. Blessings to all.
I understand, Shirley. I lost my beloved live-in girlfriend of 16 years, Julia Ann, in July of 2016. I still miss her, but I treasure the memories we made together. Time heals us to a degree, but we never forget. My condolences to you ....
I'm so sorry for your loss. My husband went to bed early New Years eve 2019 but promised a kiss at midnight. He got up but collapsed in our room. Our daughter was here at the time and together we talk of him and to him and keep him in our hearts. May God bless you and give you peace. Thank you for your kind understanding. @@davidzimmerli489

A friend of mine, a solo Canadian East Coast artist Charlie A'Court, has opened for Procol Harum several times (before Gary Brooker's death) when he toured Europe. On another note, you must continue. Your reactions are the most real on (at least) UA-cam.

Not just because you are working your way through my personal record collection with your reactions but because of the joy (usually) written all over your face, when you are hearing great music. While music like this can make you emotional, more often it just rips away the band-aids, exposing the emotions that are already there. This is a good thing. Those tears need releasing. That is the healing power of music. I hope you don’t stop doing this. You really are good at it. But if you do stop, look me up if you’re ever in the UK. I’ll buy you a beer. A warm beer of course.

Watching you appreciate this song so much makes me realize just how incredibly blessed I was to grow up in the 60's and 70's and have this awesome, amazing music as the soundtrack of my youth! The name Procol Harum is a misspelling of Procul Harun, the pedigree name of the manager's Burmese cat. (The cat died in 1972, apparently.)

We so much appreciate your reactions and your relationship to the music. I am sure 10k would agree with me that your emotionally open reactions are a joy and an intimate experience. Most don't invest that much of themselves. So hang in there if you can afford the time, because we would hate to lose your honest and insightful appraisals. All the quality music you have been choosing alonf with your tears would be a big loss. Besides you have yet to listen to Supper's Ready. And we are all ready for that!
@@intothesunset3 With Supper's Ready we are hearing Peter Gabriel, but I just have to say one of the things I admire most about his buddy Phil Collins is Phil's ability to show his emotions openly and honestly and not care what people think. For me it is a very manly trait that he shares with Peter. But Phil Collins is extraordinary.
I agree with countless others here. You are a great reactor and quality beats quantity every time. I really enjoy how you are immersed in the music as you listen. We all watch and like and I notice that you are beginning to show up more when I end up listening on a UA-cam that i don’t have subscriptions on. For me it is a very manly trait that he shares with Peter. But Phil Collins is extraordinary.
@@rk41gatorVery true!
Thanks for your real reaction Shawn. It’s a great feeling to see someone get emotional over one of my favorite tracks. RIP Gary Brooker. ✌️❤️🔥
I agree with countless others here. You are a great reactor and quality beats quantity every time. I really enjoy how you are immersed in the music as you listen. We all watch and like and I notice that you are beginning to show up more when I end up listening on a UA-cam that i don’t have subscriptions on. You will get there and over 10,000 in six months isn’t too shabby
