Awesome! Finally a full sized GM overlanding. I've been looking for a channel like this....as a proud owner of a 17 Sierra z71 CC (also levelled on 33's). Subscribed!
I am so happy to see the Chevy on the overland seen. I don't understand why so many of them have to be yuppie Toyotas, haha. Keep up the good vids. GO CHEVY!
Nothing against yotas stop being ignorant, its america people have options and get what they want, thats like saying why gee! Every motorcycle on the highway is always a Harley.
Thumbs up #199 from some GM fam here. Looking to get into overlanding with my small crew cab z71 HD lol. Came across your vid and it’s nice to see another full sizer out there on the trail. Maybe one day we will connect on the trail, it seems I’m just down the road from you in Placer County. Thanks for sharing and sweet drone shots too by the way!
+JakeandJessetsFilAmLife great platform to build off of! Thanks man! Since this video I moved but if your ever down on some trails in the SoCal area let me know.
I just started the build on my '16 Silverado Z71!! I didnt think itd be good for overlanding but watching your rig making it with the more suitable ones motivated me!
+Daniel Martinez awesome! Good luck on the build. Ya my only real limitation right now is how low I am. Eventually I’ll raise it slightly and get some larger tires. But for now it does well.
They hold their own! I think my next step is a 3.5 lift with some larger tires. Im starting to hit some trails that are pushing the limits of what this "basically stock" truck can do. There are a few good forums on Overland Bound about other Silverado builds also!
So nice to see someone with a full sized truck. I just purchased a 2015 Silverado V-8 and will be taking some overland classes. Looking forward to learning to drive this beast !!
@@RancherBlades I've gone back and fourth on having a full sized truck for new adventures, but at the end of the day, it's super comfortable, big enough for me to sleep in if need be and I feel safe. Going to the Overland expo in May to take some classes and it get gear ideas for the next steps.
I like seeing you take your full size out there, I'm building up my 18 silverado LTZ Z71 to take out to places like this. I've got a 3.5in lift on some 305/55/20 I've gone out a few places but I hope to see more full size out there
Good job on getting your pickup through some of those tight spots. My wife and I did this trail 10 years ago in a 2000 Ford Explorer and I thought some of the rough spots right at the start of the trail, where you have to climb over roots while avoided rocks and trees, was a little dicey even in a vehicle of that size, let alone a full size pickup. We now have a 2018 Tundra TRD so I'm always on the lookout for trails suitable for a stock full size truck.
I forgot y'all were meeting up at the Sierra Buttes this last weekend. When my buddy and I pulled up there Sunday, we got a wave from the OB group. Thanks for that. Jason was driving the XTerra and I had the dark green XJ. We were hoping to stop and talk to those of you still there, but we were waylaid by a friendly gentleman who kept a conversation going and we didn't get to say hi, even when you walked over by us at the edge of the canyon wearing your tan bandana. Sorry about that. I was the guy with the black lab. We ended up hiking up to the fire lookout and when we came down I think the OB group was away from camp. So we helped ourselves to some of your food and fuel. Kidding. I'm a newer OB member out of Paradise near Chico. Hoping to meet up with you guys eventually. Also wondered if the drone up over the lookout might have been one of the OB guys filming? Looking forward to seeing if you post any video of your time up on the Sierra Buttes summit. Also wondering if you came up the difficult side from Sierra City or came up the easier side? 'Cause the hard side was no joke. Cheers. Nate.
+Rugged Camper hey awesome man! Ya we actually hiked down to young America lake. Tough hike but worth it. And I did have my drone up there but not till sunset. I filmed the whole trip. I’ll have a video soon. Sorry we missed you.
Awesome video man! Heading up there tomorrow for a day trip in the jeep, so the video was super helpful. And now I finally have a legit reason for a drone. Those shots were amazing.
Hey thanks man! ya such a fun trip. There are a few amazing camp site but try and check the smoke level there. I was in the area 2 week ago also and it was really smokey. I was about to camp on Barney Riley trail but blew out because we couldn't breath.
I'll have to try Corral Hollow. Looks like a cool trail. I'm looking for people to do Overlanding with this summer. Let me know if you want to meet up. I live in Hidden Valley lake above Calistoga. But would like to check out them mountains.
+Polax zroadz is the company. I have another video on my channel that was a small overview of my truck. In the description of that video, there is a link to the exact mounts.
Nice drone work, really good video resolution. What cameras are you using and which drone do you use? I'm interested in making better videos and learning more about editing. By the way, which video editing program do you use (move maker, video editor)?
+Miguel Salgado 2.5” level. After this trail though I want to go to a 4” rough country life and change tires to 33”. Starting to max out what I can do.
Thanks for making this video! I live in northern NV and have always wanted to try this trail. Just bought a 2020 Silverado 1500. Not the trailboss, but I do have a leveling kit and 33" mud tires. Can I ask what size tire you were running? Did you scrape anywhere at all during the trail? I don't have skid plates under my truck. Am wondering if you think I'd be good to go with my truck on this trail. Thanks again bud and great video!
I believe at this time I had a level kit and 31” stock tires. I scraped quite a bit on this trail but made it through. There was a small rock garden that was the toughest to navigate.
You should really not do a rough country lift.. look into bds.. it's much better and maintains a great ride quality. They have a 4.5 in lift.. street to sand in reno nv can do a bds lift if your in the area..
Nice to see a Chevy hanging with those Toyota's! Kind of made me laugh, the guys in the kitted out Land Cruisers with thousands of dollars worth of gear, and you follow them in your stock Chevy, LOL. I'm actually looking to upgrade to a full-size Chevy from my 5th gen 4Runner actually. Kind of tired of seeing all the Toyotas, and I want V8 power. I'm thinking of a mid 2000 Tahoe, there's still plenty of them around so they're cheap enough that I can beat on it without worrying about hurting it, unlike my 4Runner.
Chevys are nice but under powered compared to the other full size trucks not to mention the coating gm does on their frames... They are the lowest horse power and torque in the segment.
+Jose Garcia no argument there. Could def use more power and I absolutely HATE that frame coating stuff. But still love it better than any midsize truck.
That Chevy truck looked awesome amongst all those Toyotas. Chevy trucks like a ROCK...!
The way your rig handled that muddy trail was just insane! You powered through without hesitation.

Awesome man! thats my next step. Im still on 31"s need to go bigger. but I did lift her since this video. 3.5" lift from RC. working well.
@@RancherBlades Nice! Looking forward to seeing that video.
Cool to see Chevy’s out and about! There’s too many Toyota’s out there, and thats coming from a Tacoma owner! Lol
they are a fun platform to build off. Wish there was more options for them but none the less, as is they work well.
I am so happy to see the Chevy on the overland seen. I don't understand why so many of them have to be yuppie Toyotas, haha. Keep up the good vids. GO CHEVY!
Silverado are great platforms to build off of. Thanks for the love!!!
Colorado Overlander here. I also drive a Chevy, 1998 Silverado 454
Nothing against yotas stop being ignorant, its america people have options and get what they want, thats like saying why gee! Every motorcycle on the highway is always a Harley.
Seen what?
I drive my ‘02 Yukon! Love the interior space and “security” of the cargo area for sleeping
Glad you ran into Overland Bound love watching them and many other like Expedition Overland.
+Zenas Kim great groups!

Definitely gonna start this type of build with my ‘14 Silverado!

Your ability to capture the landscape is awesome keep up the great work! 👍
Thank you! it is a beautiful area.
Time to put our old school 2500hd on trails.
Going to try a few in Moab summer of 2020
I drove it last week in a stock Jeep WJ. 225/75-16 tires, no lift, no locking diffs but yes locking transfer case. Minor damage 😬, major fun.
Great trail.

Michael from overland bound def helped a lot getting through there. Fun stuff.
Good video, thanks for sharing!
Nice video, haven't done that trail looks cool though.
Super fun trail.
Nice! I Went through their with a couple mildly lifted GMT800 Suburbans so it is doable;) just take it slow. OB522
Nice, I thought that trail would be fun in a full size with some of those tight turns!
Nice video, can you get more outside cabin shots and more articulating obstacles you overland. Find New Roads, Z71 GANG.
My mule 2003 Silverado 2500 hd extended cab 8 foot bed that is a long wheel base I’ve been in a few tight spots happy adventures
Heck ya! nice rig. ya corners are our weekness but we laugh at other on inclines. I bet you could climb a tree with that rig!

Need more content brotha lol I just built my own custom bed rack for my new rooftop tent and your videos make me wanna get out there more
+casey chance good to hear man! Do it!
Nice edit and fun adventure. Thank you for sharing. WADZ
+WADZ UP thanks for watching!
Cheers what cameras are you enjoying to capture your adventure ?
I have a Canon dslr, then I always my my trusty gopros with me.

Hell ya do the same in my 14’ nice rig bubb.
+eric rush great trucks 👍
Awesome videos. But the thing i will take away most are the camping boogers!!!
Nice! Besides taking out the front lower lip have you done anything else? Bigger tires or lift?
just about to post a video about all the new upgrades. Ive done a few new things
Hey where did you get your mounts for the light pods? Thanks
+Polax zroadz is the company. I have another video on my channel that was a small overview of my truck. In the description of that video, there is a link to the exact mounts.
Crew cab short or standard bed?
Crew with short
Looks like a great time, what a view from that campsite, wow! Are you heading to the Overland Bound Rally (aka Off the Grid) this year?
Yep ill be there! you?
Yep, I'll be there again, I'm bringing the whole family this year, it's gonna be a good time! See ya there!
Awesome. this will be my first time. im super excited
Where did you find that bed rack at? Been looking for my gmc and can't seem to find one.
The one in this video is from Frontrunner outfitters
Anybody can pilot a tube buggy on 40's through a trail but to get your full-size through unscathed is way cool.
I don’t know if I can say 100% unscathed but we got through 🤜🏽
What rack are you using for the tent
In this video it is a front runner rack.
what rack are you using on the back? looking for one for my 13 Z71
+Audie St.Croix mine is from Frontrunner outfitters. Love it.
What rear locker do you use? Not the standard G80 correct?
Just the stock g80.
“Like a glove!”

Thanks! and ya I use a DJI Mavic and I edit on Adobe Premier Pro.
What was the map book you referenced?
Funtreks, they have books on a few states.
I'm surprised Chevy trucks were underrated in the offroading world in the US!
Are you running a leveling kit or just tires on this ?
+Miguel Salgado 2.5” level. After this trail though I want to go to a 4” rough country life and change tires to 33”. Starting to max out what I can do.
you should start a GM truck overland group. I have a full size Z71 Silverado 4x4. I would like to join you.

Conditions always change. Check with local rangers.
Crew cab or double cab?
Crew.
Let me know when you're ready and I'll join you. Chevy trucks.
Are you an Overland Bound member?
yep, I know Michael and Corrie well
been toying with the idea of trading in the 14' 1500 for a 4runner TRD, but this video gives me hope that i can find plenty of adventure for now!
+Greyson Grill oh heck ya man! Our 1500 can run with the pack. And carry the whole family.

Cool video. Did you know there is a hidden 4wd menu / screen in the dashboard information center? Check it out! 😊
I just found that like a month or two ago.
There’s nothing hidden about that screen. Was your owner’s manual hidden?
Camping boogers 😂😂
+Charlie Ricker 😂🤙

great video. Get rid of that big truck

Ummm the GM 6.2 pretty much embarrasses every other full size truck.
The 5.3 is on par with the hemi, 5.0, and fundra
