In America most black men can't financially sustain multiple wives.

It depends on how you look at it. If your family is materialistic and worldly then of course a average man can't afford that. That's what wrong with family's now. Materialism!

I was thinking more along the lines of needs. I don't think the women in that type of marriage should work outside the home. But it's not that big of a deal because that doesn't effect me.

I personally believe it should be a choice whether to work or not to work. Unfortunately greed it the way of life here in the states. We need to be reprogrammed. Polygamy isnt for everyone but for many, it would behoove us to keep an open mind.

Well women are also liberated financially, so they can work and contribute to overall economic wealth, especially if they don't have children. Also, as vohnholley mentioned if materialism is an issue, then very few top tier men in *society* can even sustain polygynous relationship.
Materialism is bad for everyone in general and contributes to corporate green and destruction of a lot of things anyway.

what are you talking about? There is no way to accept a man sleeping with other women and then coming back to me. I won't accept that and that's because it's disrespectful and it shows a lack of self control. Most of theses men in support of polygamy cant even handle their woman looking at another guy and they can't handle being faithful to one woman but think they can handle multiple ones? I'm not cool with sharing my body with everybody. Just cuz it's happening doesn't make it acceptable. You already see how much dysfunction it causes.

THINK ABOUT WHAT YOUR DUMBASS SAID. Polgamy is a consensual type of relationship that multiple people agree on and you just compared it to hoe ass niggas who can't keep their dicks out of other women and who hide and lie their deeds. That's how I know yall not going to be responsible enough to engage in polygamy. If any woman has an ounce of sense, she would stay away.

Polygamous marriages are more stable than monogamous marriages. Americans marry 3 or 4 times in their lifetimes but they think it's ok if they do that one at a time, which is much worse. Getting divorced and remarried multiple times is the norm and socially acceptable but it's not good especially for the children nor society in general.

Polygamy is ok but Polyandry is not ...Polyandry means marital Brothel system.
If one woman mates with more than a man then she becomes gents' urinal. Because men ejaculated semen and urine drops. Thats why polygamy is acceptable but polyandry is perceived as dirty thing. Because of difference in working way of sex organs in which one discharges or pours fluid and the other one receives , gathers and ""absorbs"" that fluid , normally female virginity is given importance in real mankind. For "animals" there is no importance of female virginity.
If men uses genital in public toilet and accidentally penis touches the pot , it makes very uncomfortable unless shower is taken. But it's surprising how come many men accepts and dips their dick into that vegina which has been earlier urinated by other man.

do people realize that polygamy is not about AFFORDING women and wives? it's about men who have attained or been born in wealth. the practice polygamy as a way of keeping the wealth inside of the family and want their bloodline to grow to a size that will manage all they have. because the amount of wealth that one man has cannot be managed just by one child. this isn't about just having a shit load of wives. it's inheritance, upper class families practice this.

  • @NECHISTEVENS

So not to be disrespectful. It's a question that makes more sense to me. So, the recommendation is for women to live together, and share in the care of the children, and the upkeep of the home, and we have to "work on our sisterhood." Then why share a man? Why not build a community of women, and from time to time, if the urge hits... engage with men for procreation or pleasure. Why would it make sense for a woman to be monogamous to a man? When men tell the world (quite often) that they clearly are not satisfied with being with one women. I think maybe we should scrap "marriage" all together. Because it's definitely not about holding someone sacred. It's not about pledging your love to one person. I say, let men can come and go, as they always have and we maintain our community and be responsible for ourselves? Personally, whenever I needed help, women have been way more resourceful for me. Not saying a man has never helped but the consistency and delivery is more reliable from women. In my opinion, I would rather roommate with my besties, and share goals, rather than take on cohabitation with a man. If someone can't offer the bare minimum of loyalty, why subject yourself to a lifestyle of being with someone and whatever woman/women he scraps up. Emotional devotion means a lot to me and it doesn't seem like it's a big ask. Especially, when sharing bodily fluids, living spaces, finances and feelings.

Miss Natural, your voice and facial expressions, tipped how you feel about polygamy. Any one who watched this interview can tell you are against polygamy and that is a good thing. I always have to laugh when I watch a video where a black man is trying to explain to the black women how she should live her life. The majority of black women are smart enough and strong enough that they don't need to be told how to live their lives. Miss Natural, you spoke of how the difference in income and knowledge between black women, would cause friction in a plural black marriage. I think what you really wanted to say was, the fact is that percentage wise, African American women have a much higher education and income then African American men. Why would 2 or 3 women want to be the bread winner for one man? Let's be real here. There is no way that 3 black women are going to live under the same roof and share a man. Aint happening.

If you think about it. Yes “polygamy” is not an openly practiced institution (the concept of being with more than one woman). However in practice it is done within the community when you have black men sleeping with various women. Yet unfortunately NO woman is taken care of because there is nothing “binding” him responsibly to these women (and their offspring). At least in the institution of polygamy he would have to make a commitment to these relationships. Btw I’m not for or against it. I just find it interesting the example Dr. Johnson brought up with regards to it.

First of all reading through the comments made me feel sorry for those who don’t understand polygamy! Woman are more than men and a lot of the sisters are left with sons to raise and no security this is a mans job to raise the sons and protect the woman. I believe that polygamy is the answer because as i said it can secure a woman who has been left abonded to raise her children which I think no matter how much mothers think they can raise sons the unfortunate answer is no you can raise daughters but it’s a man job to raise a boy to be a man that’s why theirs lots of gay men because they don’t have a father figure ! So stop thinking about yourself and think about your child’s future in amerikkka.

I would not participate in such an arrangement. I don’t see how they are beneficial. What would I gain? I also question the inability to connect with one person and bond as one. However, the important thing is for people to be upfront about what they want and expect out of relationships. If consenting adults feel that they are having their needs met in all regards, then they should act in accordance with what they can live with. Also, I don’t need an elder to protect my interest in a relationship. As a sovereign adult I can act on my behalf and advocate for myself. I would not trust another person to do that for me. In these situations it seems like women are victimized and controlled by others for the sake of community interest over their own.

Why waite till u feel like u lacking from your woman to want another wife or gf why cant u be content n still want anothet wife? If men wanna be polygamous they need to be that from the jump dont just change your mind and switch up. Secondly the men and women all sex each other like thats not polygamy. The women dont lick suck and sex each other thats just straight up misguiding people.

Many men don't realize they are polygamous until after marriage because Europeans believe in one man one woman by. We have been condition to think that a man having a concubine which is a wife with lesser status as wrong. So what God made Natural and biblical Europeans said it was wrong in there opinion. It taught women how to be selfish and not work together and raise children together. It made men look like cheaters when they were only operating how God designs us. Think about it 🤔. A man can get multiple women pregnant in one day but a woman can only carry one child for 9 months. It was meant for men to procreate. And if a wife is not acting right best believe a man will look for a concubine.

I have considered this from a traditional standpoint, but I would rather maintain my own household. I would like to be in a relationship with an openly polygamous man, but our arrangement would not include cohabitation or marriage. I have given it a lot of thought, and this is what would be best for me. I would like to continue living alone with my son, and just have my one boyfriend that I only have to entertain twice a week. That would just be my ideal relationship. If the guy was openly polygamous, it wouldn't be any issue with drama n bullshit etc. Bc he's not deceiving anyone. I want to keep my son protected from having a man in his face though. I would like to just have a relationship that fits into my free time only. This man could still be there for me mentally, physically, emotionally, financially, etc. I am just able to entertain him on my own time, and maintain my real life at the same time. I am open to the idea of marriage once my son is older, but not right now.

Dr. Umar is playing into the stereotype that there is not enough good black men out there. That's totally BS. The 80/20 statistic has shown that black women are disregarding good black men for local thugs. I agree with in regards to putting in place education or a community structure for marriage and relationships. But how are you going to do that when you have black women who inherently don't respect and value black men. How are you going to do this without a patriarchy within the black community. Now he continues to take shots at black men by saying many black men are with different women. NOT TRUE. The baby mama epidemic demonstrates clearly who is sleeping around. I respect the Dr. Umar but he is on some matriarch stuff which is at the heart of destroying our culture. As an African priest I can tell you he is way off in what he is saying!

I don't think there is a shortage, it is just that a lot of black women have a skewed or different criteria of what constitutes a good black man. In my experience, a lot of black women don't value the attributes of a good man, they seem to be searching for something else.....

    • @QesankhMaaKheperu

Black women are not looking for good men. They are looking for certain qualities within a man; smooth talk, tall, caters to them, bit of gangster element, spontaneous, irresponsible, and etc. The problem is most of those qualities are not inherit in good men. These qualities turn them on. This could be a result of social engineering to break up the black family unit. But even white women like rebels the difference is they have their fun then settle down with a provider who is steady and reliable. Black woman try to make a thug into a reliable man then complain there are not good men out there when they are the ones actively filtering out or disqualifying good men.

So Polygyny won’t work because the sisterhood is messed up? That doesn’t make sense to me. If black women are in competition for the men, that’s because it’s rare to find a loyal, wise man. So the solution is polygamy or “fixing the sisterhood”? The solution isn’t holding more men accountable??? Of course sisterhood needs work, just like brother hood but I don’t think that’s to mainly to blame.

    2. No kids before being married successfully for 3 years, and having BOTH parents sign an understanding that they BOTH want to have a child and have a written up plan of how they plan to provide and care for said child.
    3. Hold children to an academic standard of A-B honor roll! Blacks do not put the proper value on education which is the key to success.
    4. Live well BELOW your means! No designer foolishness and fake hair and nonsense.

    6. Actually be a parent when you have children and protect their innocence and keep them from growing up so fast

Which is why polygamy would work. The men that CAN'T support themselves are put to the side, and the men that can support more than one woman will have no issue doing so. Woman aren't obligated to get into a relationship with men that can't support themselves.

I do not believe in polygamy relationships at all because my faith says it’s not right, but from a realistic stand point for the men that believe in polygamy, most of your actions don’t even equal up to you attaining the responsibility of having a polygamist relationship. You’re not faithful to a simple phone plan, how can you be faithful to two women... some of you men aren’t in your children lives and neglect the very one woman that loves you for you, but you want to add on one more woman to the equation... I call bull crap. Men, let’s be faithful to one woman and one woman only, we can not build up our community if our homes are broken, have a relationship with whatever religion god or belief higher than yourself and nature, have moral about yourself AS A MAN, stay home with your woman and treat her right love your kids and work hard to provide knowledge, wisdom, and assets for your next generation. Once we tackle our home problems, then and only then will we build up our communities. Kick this polygamy bs to the curb

It all sounds like a good idea until you bring in that 3rd or 4th person and get completely left behind. LOL Happened to me and I laugh at it now but boy ol boy the hurt. Anyone constantly looking outside of self for love is lacking something deeply within & I don't wish to be involved. Also, not looking to play a nanny to anyone's children or share my resources. If you need to pool resources you should rethink creating a family. Different stroke for different folks but never again. It all boils down to someone's selfish reasons of needing some type of help.

people they say " i cannot sustain multiple wives but they are okay with sleeping with multiple women and get them pregnant and leave them not knowing who the father of that child

How does a Muslim man in Afria in the desert is able to take care of 4 wives and have more than 20 kids and all of them grow to be engineers and doctors?
    With zero divorce
My grandparent has 2 and one of them is my dad who is a teacher today
and he lived in a village
The one who said " get marry to 4" is the one who say " I will provide for you like i provide for the birds"
Allah said " I will provide for you" and that's why people forgot about him and his guidance and today we are in this mess
Look at prostitution statistics in America and Europe
    Look at pornography statistics
    Look at drugs abuse
look at the divorce rate in America
    look at sexually transmitted diseases
Look at debt( today the majority of American citizens are swimming in debt whether its a credit cards, student loans or mortgages)
Look at alchool abuse!, 2-3 million die each year from alchool
Look at gambling ( people are homeless today because of gambling) and people are in prison because of it
    should I continue
Today people forgot about Allah's guidance Allah left them in this chaos but he also said " Follow my guidance and you will return back to your normal life"

In zimbabwe when a man is marrying a woman and goes to the court to sign the marriage certificate, he is given a choice between two types of marriages. They ask if he would want to marry more women later or is going to only marry one wife for life. If he opts for polygamy he gets a certificate which allows him to come back and add more wives therefore allowing his wives to all be legally married to him and in the event of the husbands death they are all entitled to an equal share of the inheritance

The reality is once a woman has a child, which is nearly inevitable considering biology, she is IMMEDIATELY OUT of the labor force. (Unless you want your child being raised by some outside source after the 6 weeks passes in which she has maternity leave.) So anyway, she leaves the labor force because she has to take care of her offspring. This alone shows that a man who wants multiple wives needs to be able to care for his multiple lives. And not in the projects. Why is it so hard for people to believe? I, like many black women, have a master's degree and plenty of skill sets, but if I reproduce then my first and most important skill will be daily rearing of the next generation along with my husband. I won't be going out to work for some white man. And if I do entrepreneurship, it will come secondary to raising our children and taking care of our home. So for those who think they're going to have a harem in which a whole bunch of women work and bring in the majority of income while the man sits around and keeps on having sex? Doesn't make any sense. And women who fall for that are simply thirsty and need to get their hormones in check. Men would never tolerate that from women if the tables were turned, so women should not tolerate that from men.
