There's also the feeling, when you watch commercials like these, that "other people seeing this commercial will be convinced by it and they'll adopt its values, so unless I conform to those values I'll be left behind." So even when you're not personally convinced at all, the commercial creates peer pressure out of thin air. You don't even need to be pressured by your actual peers for it to work, the commercial can make that threat for them.

Only One Man, who had the most to gain, had the moral integrity to stand up for The Right Thing and called out Nathan boldly for his bullying and psychological manipulation of children: Mark. Today Nathan showed us an inventive business man with integrity and genuine respect for his customers as fellow human beings, and if that's not a reason to go out there and buy a Doink It, I don't know what is. 🤔
From what I've seen the owners are usually supportive of Nathan's plans, even if its only a little. Mark outright rejecting him just adds to the whole clip

The thing is she seems intuitive enough for her age. I hope the kids all got told this wasn't real because being watched by adults in a room, with cameras and lights and having to make a decision while you're being manipulated, can definitely come back to haunt you when you're older enough to fully grasp the gravity of the situation.
