I have to agree 100% with you Nathan, on the fence post pulling. I’ve put in and pulled out thousands of them in my younger days. No help from a tractor, yours is the best way and healthiest way for you and your future farm life. There’s absolutely no point in doing something so strenuous if you don’t have to. Good job mate. 👍🏻
Nothing like having the right equipment for the job. That’s Mr KATO is the CATS MEOW seems to have excellent lifting hydraulic power. I’d love to have a post puller like that. 🤠🇺🇸
Nathan, I'm SO jealous! I have too many China Berry trees in my yard here in southeast Texas. That machine would be perfect for the job. Alas, it will have to be the chain and winch method for me.
I tried this and it actually worked. If you plug the ends together of the attachment when you are done with it, the pressure equalizes and they are easy to plug in when you need them. Worked for me.
@@billupstateny9151 No. Not if the implement ends get plugged in to each other when not in use. I do that all the time now. Never any built up pressure in the lines.
@@Z-Bart Not disputing your claim. OTW stores his implements outdoors, & he has made claim that the pressure builds w/ the Tennessee heat. My equipment is all stored under cover, so have not experienced his issue.
I've used all sorts of ways of pulling posts. Bucket and blade on the mini excavator, chain or strop with the truck crane and 4in1 bucket on a tractor, skid-steer, track loader and wheel loader among other variants and devices. Personally, I've never tried a dedicated post puller attachment but the only time I've ever had an issue using a 4in1 was because the pole was too tall for me to get the bucket over it and the owner wanted to save the pole. (I ended up using a strop and the truck crane.) That attachment certainly makes the job easier for most posts and I'm sure you did the math for time/cost/convenience.
Tarnation! I just watched this video, here, on the second of July and I have not watched any for about a week any of your videos. Pulling out those posts. I had a tough tooth extraction a few days ago, a three-root tooth. I am *thoroughly* reminded of the root pulling as the dentist slowly pulled out each root, as you pulled out each post!! Ouch! actually very painless; a good dentist.
When you replace that fence line, consider using black locust posts. You shouldn’t have any trouble getting what you need in Central TN West of Nashville. I understand they are pretty common. They are said to last 100 years or more. Not sure there’s any science to that but that’s the tale.
The track loader does not tip forward, because the lifting arms are attached at the back end. All of the machine, in front of that point, is used as leverage, to keep the rear down. On your tractor, the front wheels act as a fulcrum, to lift the rear wheels. 😁✌🖖
Good job Nathan, enjoyed the fence pulling and the mowing too. Sure glad your wife did the fence wire removal, she might want to trade jobs with you next time around though because that was the hardest part. You all stay safe and have a Happy Independence Day. OLD DAWG DREAMING Fred.
Nathan, out of curiosity, when you replace the fence posts in the fall, could you hold a metal post upright, lift the extractor to get a grip above where you want the ground line to be then walk over and use the hydraulics to push it to the desired depth? If so, that would eliminate a lot of hammering or pounding with the post driver. It would mean having someone to hold the post upright to start with unless you drove them in a few inches to hold them upright down the line then came back and just pushed them in. Using the extractor and the Kato also means you don't have to walk up to a bee nest, snakes, or mounds of fire ants (if you have them in your neck of the woods).
I was hoping you might be able to answer a question about your old mill, I noticed you did not move it much so it may not have been an issue until you sold it but did you have a problem with the wind chimes and the log lift in transport mode? I followed what you did about a year ago and do not normally move my mill but I had to today and I'm finding out that the bar that holds the wind chimes hits the log lifter in transport position. So I was wondering if you had this issue also?
If nobody is using the hay from the field anymore why put a new fence, it's only a hindrance when you mow around it! Nice puller-machine combo seems very efficient!
Ok, the fence puller is faster BUT you will get out of the machine to pick up the posts. I have approx 150 wood posts to remove, sad end of an era for the horses. However when I remove the chain from the post, simultaneously place the post on the 6 ft fork extensions, also from titan. So when moving to the next post, there is NO need to double back to retrieve posts laying on the ground. Further do NOT have an implement sitting in the weeds that has NO future plans on This farm. I like titan implements, BUT their prices have skyrocketed. I purchased a 79 inch hydraulic snow blade in 2018 for one thousand $$. Today that same blade has doubled $ in cost. Did not look @ the fence puller $, as the chain, forks & FEL will perform properly.
I believe the Kato can turn the puller straight down and pick up whats laying on the ground and stack them on trailer or whatever should not have to get out of the machine at all
@@johnaddis1022 That is incorrect john. The titan post puller does not rotate. & your solution requires a second person to move this trailer, defeating the one person operation suggested by OTW. There is a tree shear that rotates, inappropriate for pulling posts. OTW suggested a tractor will lurch forward in pulling a post. I keep a rear mounted implement, not had a negative experience. I also use a modified short chain attached to a hook @ bottom of the fork carrier. Important for the chain to overlap itselt, obtaining a firm non-slip grip upon the post. I can move from post to post as quickly as I desire. I concede the puller is faster, if the removed posts can just lay on the ground where they fall indefinitely. My posts are embedded 30 inches average, & 5 ft above grade. They present no issue to unchain, lay post across the forks & move to the next. My tractor may be a heavier utility model than the 55 hp OTW was using previously w/ this implement. His 74 hp may be more appropriate.🇺🇸🗽🙏
