    Since SSD is approx 500-600 MB/s fast how much extra speed will I get installing NVME? I doubt it's full 2GB/s.

    Can I use a NVMe SSD with PCIe 4.0 with this adapter or only PCIe 3.0? I'm searching to buy the SSD Model but this question tricked me here. Can you help me? My mac Mini Late 2014 reads this 4.0 configuration as an exemple 7000 reading and 5500 writing? Or only the 3.0 specifications?

    I have a 2014 Mac Mini with a 1TB Spinning Drive, can I just add this SSD without removing the Spinning Drive, therefore booting form the SSD and use the spinning drive for Time Machine Backup?

    Good day... Will you do me a small favour? I want to do this upgrade using the same circuit board, but I want to use a heatsink... Will you please measure the distance from the top of the NVMe you installed to the bottom plate & tell me what it is? You just need to push a blunt object through a hole above a chip, & make a mark right where said object clears the base cover... If you still have the Mac Mini that is... Thanks... =]

    If I already have a Fusion drive, can I just upgrade the SSD portion with any M.2 drive and not need the adaptor?

    • @nntechchannel1640
      @nntechchannel1640  2 роки тому +1

      The fusion already have an ssd, the os manage the ssd portion and use it for frequently used apps, you can replace only the ssd portion.

      @@nntechchannel1640 Apparently you don't understand my question. I want to split my fusion drive into separate parts, remove just the small SSD and replace it with a 500GB M.2 SSD for the OS, while keeping the HDD for storage.

      @@nntechchannel1640 If I want to buy a third party M.2 SSD, and put it in the existing SSD slot for the fusion, drive, I don't need the adapter you have since there is already a port, so what kind of adapter do I buy for that?

    • @nntechchannel1640
      @nntechchannel1640  2 роки тому

      Hello, i understand what you are trying to do, i didn’t have a fusion drive to experiment with, i think OWC made a video explaining how to do it ( you ca search for it in UA-cam) but in my point of view, it’s better to just swap the fusion drive with an ssd, you will have better performances.

    HELP -- I just did exactly what you did. I used a WD 1 tb. When i restart the mac it doesn't show up in disk utility. I restarted in "option" and nothing to boot to. I used disk utility from CMD R and nothing. I have tried everything i can think of. Is it possible the M.2 port is disabled? The drive and adapter are new. I can't figure out why it won't show up. Thank you for help!!!

      @@nntechchannel1640 Thank you for responding!! :) Yeah, I did it 3 times. I opened it up, removed the adapter and reattached it listening for the "right" clicking sound. It's new and the the ssd is a WD so it's a good one, new as well. I will try it in another computer. I saw a number of videos with people using the same adapter and same m.2 in the same mac mini I have. I just wondered if maybe the port could be disabled. I am installing Windows on it and was told that sometimes the firmware needs to be updated for MAC to see it. That Windows always sees it, but MAC may not. But then obviously I'd need Windows to update the firmware. I will try to find Windows somewhere :) Thanks!! :)
