    I suspect that somewhere on the motherboard of the mac mini M1 and M2, there are soldering points very close to the original SSDs, which can accept the connection of that board to NVMe SSDs. Why don't you investigate further? Here's a suggestion :)

      We can pass along your feedback. However, since most of our products are DIY products that process is a bit beyond the normal customer's abilities on their machine. This routine may also void your warranty on the computer.

    Thanks a ton for such an informative video! You did a fantastic job. It spurred me to experiment with my 2014 Mac Mini. However, I'm uncertain whether it's possible on my device. Could you clarify if your alterations are applicable to this particular model: Model A1347 EMC 2840
    Appreciate your response in advance! 🙏🙏🙏

    Hi, I don't see you removing the original HDD, which apparently is more complicated. How did you do that? Do you have both hard drive installed?

      It’s in there but maybe not connected. Doesn’t really matter because this is ghetto as fuq.

      Just a quick update. Both disk can co exist in a mini 2014. The video is more to add on a new pcie drive (apple proprietary connector, sold by owc).

      @@thepopeofkeke Its not a way to get around replacing the HDD, the logic board on these have a connection for an ssd for a fusion drive. My $5000 MacPro has ssd's and HDDs. Last I checked, that ain't ghetto.

    Very easy to install. What about getting my Mac mini to connect with OS? I do the CMD-OPT-R, but I'm not getting anything.

    from what I recall there's a way to install a SATA 2.5" device also, if I slide the whole assembly out of the unibody. does the procedure in this video render 2.5 SATA device installation impossible, or do they not interfere? thanks for your advice. I am a very occasional mac user, haven't had many of them, so I don't know the peculiarities of different models.

      Here is a link with some compatible options: eshop.macsales.com/shop/ssd/owc/mac-mini/2014, unfortunately I believe for this model, you are able to do one or the other, but not both. Hope this info is of help.

    I would like to purchase the item, I would like to know exactly what it will do for Late Mac Mini 2014, 7,1, I5, 500gb? I saw one of your cards for 240 GB, what will that do for me? Do I need the 1TB? I would like to use my mini as a server to store photos and documents from mac, keeping them free.

      If you choose to upgrade with the PCIe SSD, it would provide a speed boost as well as extra storage. For more information, I would recommend contacting our support team on the link below.

    One big doubt i have is: which would be faster between SSD SATA 3 vs SSD NVMe?? im not sure if the mac mini 2014 has PCIe 2 or 3.. if you could response would be awesome !!

    • @poweredbyowc
      @poweredbyowc  2 роки тому +2

      The NVMe SSD will be the fastest option on your MacMini. Now your Mac mini will not come with a PCIe slot if you did not purchase it with a fusion drive. Now that is not a problem because we do offer a kit for you to still be able to install the NVMe SSD into your Mac Mini. If you do have the PCIe slot it will be a 3 and the kit we provide is also a 3.

      Depending exactly what you are doing on your machine it may improved the speed of your machine. What will benefit for would be a RAM upgrade. Depending on the 2014 iMac you have you may be able to upgrade the memory.

    Hi, I have two Late 2012 Mac Minis but only one of them zaps me when I touch it and at the same time touch another grounded metal-cased equipment (e.g. an amplifier). It's not painful at all but I definitely feel it. Is there an issue with the Mini I should worry about? Thanks.

    • @poweredbyowc
      @poweredbyowc  3 роки тому

      In addition to an ESD bracelet, be careful to be grounded wearing tennis shoes or on a rubber floor matte, as well

    • @poweredbyowc
      @poweredbyowc  3 роки тому

      I would double check that the Mac Mini is completely disconnected and that you are fully grounded as these would be the 2 sources of any static/electrical power. Remember that it is also a good thing to discharge any static on yourself by grounding yourself before and throughout the process.

      Mine has a regular "spinner" hard drive deep inside (standard) and someone put a NVMe PCIe (recommended) on top (easy-ish) and installed the boot OS onto that, made it run like a champ. Next is to put an SSD in instead of the spinner, easy, if you have some skills. If your PCIe card boots from itself, it may not be that extra useful for speed.
