I love Roger, his passion for perfumes and his personality. But not sure his point at 0:28, is valid, about rubbing the wrists together after applying the perfume "or you'll end up bruising or damaging the fragrance". We are talking about molecules which are very, very small and it's practically impossible to crush them.
I’m so happy to see you on UA-cam. You did some videos for a magazine years ago on perfume and I was obsessed with watching them as you speak so hypnotically on the subject of perfume. You’re the David Attenborough of the perfume world.

Thank you for these very useful tips Roja. One question that bothers me, how does applying fragrance before lotion not bruise the fragrance, like when you told us to avoid rubbing it in?
My background is pharmacy, and while I know little of fragrances, what I know of chemistry makes your last point seem dubious at best. Liquids do not stack in layers (not on the skin, anyway). They mix. My chemistry background would suggest whether the lotion or perfume is applied first makes no difference because they mix either way. In your scenario, the alcohol just attacks the lotion from underneath instead of from on top. How am I wrong?
Dear Roja Dove: thank you for these wonderful tips! I’m a great fan of yours from Puerto Rico. Very interesting thoughts on the body lotion usage! However, if you shouldn’t rub a fragrance in order to avoid overheating the oils, then how should we apply the moisturizer or lotion after having put on the fragrance? I’d like to try this tip, but don’t want to ruin my fragrance. Please let me know how you do it. Abrazos!
Good point - I can see how it seems I have delivered a mixed message, here. When some people apply perfume, they spray the scent very close to their wrists and then immediately press their wrists together. This almost compresses the perfume... it crushes the notes that you have just applied to your skin. The perfume becomes a bit of a cacophony. Instead, you should spray perfume onto your skin from a bit further away, which allows the notes to settle on and then dissipate from the skin, as nature intended. Allow the scent to settle for a few minutes and then apply cream to lock the notes - which have settled naturally- onto the skin. The slight heat from the rubbing sensation will enhance the notes but it won't crush them in the way they get when directly applied and dabbed. Rx

Some great tips from the Master Perfumer. One thing I used to do was apply a spray onto the neck area behind the Ear lobe as I was told it was a pulse point that radiates the scent. I will apply to the wrist a lot closer now
First of all, thank you for taking the time and effort for making the video. You mention spraying the fragrance on the collar bones. Doesn’t clothing prevent the fragrance for being noticed since it covered? Thank you and kind regards from the Netherlands, Tom
I always put fragrance on my wrist because I don't like when fragrance gets stuck on my shirt or jacket collar, so I have to wash it every time I want to change fragrance. I made that mistake with my expensive coat with an aggressive fragrance that still lingers now one year later. In summer it is perfect to wear it on your wrists; in winter you can roll up your sleeves just enough to expose your wrists from the shirt. It is also much easier to remove fragrance from your wrists than it is from your neck or behind your ears.
