Regular Car Reviews: 1990 Chevrolet Suburban
Вставка
- Опубліковано 29 вер 2024
- This is a car from the age of Grunge Music, live axles and red plush interior. The Suburban is not an SUV, not really. It is a work truck that happens to be inclosed. Like the Lincoln Town Car, it will outlast modern cars.
"you could conceive, deliver AND raise a family in the back of this vehicle."I died laughing
And it smells like it
"and entertain them on saturday nights with waterpark hallucinations compelled by the fumes" was my favorite line, beautifully evocative...
Then you can add that part one to the list.
In 1996 my dad used to, in our red suburban... ❤️
Glorious. This and the '92 Town Car video are the bottom of the food pyramid of Regular Car Reviews, holding everything up.
Had one-3/4 Tom, 4wd & black with limo tinted windows. Everybody thought that DEA or ICE had shown up when I arrived-so much fun!
I was wondering if you were starting to lose the magic. No, you just had to let the magic rest a few days between squeezings.
My folk's had the 6.2 L diesel 1989 version. It had no power but could go about 800 miles on a tank of fuel. It had big aftermarket captains chairs and rode like a boat.
We called ours the Velvet Chariot of Love. I miss it....
Anyone else think this beast looks super comfy inside?
I have a 90 suburban 5.7 4x4 in red i love it! I got my A/C working didn't need to convert.
My 76 454 made 14.5 mpg. No catalytic converter from the factory. Monster trailer hauler.
Is it just me or is the writing much better in these old videos?
I drive a 91 rino line, black burben with 175,xxx all electric , everything works, great truck, I get complementz everywhere I drive 😎
As much as I like your original scoring, I have to say I kind of miss how well the music from the S2000 or Yard Man and Accord videos complemented or hilariously contrasted with the videos.
I loved so much this review that I saved on my laptop and among my favorite.
But a spineless grunger will never buy somethin' so manly... I see 'em in a sad japanese econobox from the '70s.
third brake lights started on 1985.5's , for example the ford Escort and all 1986 cars
“compels this concession stand..." Haha
Back when Suburban's were actually good off road lol
20 years ago all europeans thought every american drives a giant shoe box around that drips from the muffler has a stok gear shifter behind the wheel and sucks up 20 to 30 liters on 100 km
I love the new suburbans but I will admit that these generations are way better.
This should've been longer
A Chevrolet Suburan only needs six selling points
1. I'm BIG
2. I drive over stuff
3. Weather doesn't stop me
4. I look like *murder*
5. I sound like Lobo
6. And I smoke like Oswald's rifle
Favorite part of the review
Same thing applies to the excursion lol
I am at my Grandparent's house. They are listening to christmas music in the background as I watch this video. It adds another dimension that I never would have thought existed before today. Listening to tales of crying potato sacks with "Up on the house top" in the background is some kind of religious experience, but certainly not the kind my grandparents would approve of.
Hehe...
known as the mormon assault vehicle in idaho. catholics drove passenger vans.
+tamapalagi Sounds like Fords and Chevys in Lake Wobegon.
tamapalagi yup.
us Mormons driving our suburbans and dodge grand caravans
Phucboi McSaggypants yeah, it's a Nampa-Meridian-Caldwell thing to say
I know a Mormon family that has both
I know Mormons that have GMC Yukon xl which is pretty much the same thing, Its a southern Boise thing too.
I listened to your podcast with Matt Farah the other day and I'm on the same page as him-keep this going and you guys will go really far.
Film on!

ThatDudeinBlue here we are now ,David
Acura 1985 (KLCS Kids is over on PBS.)
ThatDudeinBlue is
I guess they went really far.
All you need is a jet black paint job, tinted windows, and a fake rotating satellite dish on the roof, and BAM!, park it outside of some random guy's house and watch as he freaks out thinking that the government showed up to spy on him.
My dad did that to his Ford Expedition. lol
+JoeytheJoeyX3 Lol yeah, spy on him, with a huge spinning sattelite on the roof? Nothing suspicious about that :P
Yeah, you'd also need the Suburban to be a 2007 or later model year.
JoeytheJoeyX3 what the morning I think you have to go out of the house and Senate majority in town tomorrow night w my daughter will have her number I lost it is close and personal e Lee and r going ok just CALM down at this point in the parking garage and t to get the schedule and you don't release of the way the first one was just talking with you have to stay he is going q we r in a sec I'll let me to pick you have any tattoos us to the
Post-2007 Tahoe works too.
I have to say... As a European, this is not what I think about when I think about American cars (which I try to avoid doing). I usually forget this car exists, because there's probably about a maximum of 2 of these in my country.
I do secretly love how this car looks though.
yeah, and they changed our tax laws to the disadvantage of these oldschool land yacht bohemoths so from now on we'll see them even fewer on EU-streets. Which i think is a shame.
As a European, I belive that what other Europeans think of as "the most american car" is a Cadillac Deville...the Suburban is 2nd or 3rd :D
Im kinda late but in finland it is cheaper to drive vehicle like this cuz you only pay 100€/taxes a year or big vehicles and vans here so only thing that will cost is that v8 under the hood and in my neighborhood there is 2 suburbans one old one and one newer both from the 90's and one buick all sound sexy asf and if the new inspection law comes thru that lets cars older thqn 40yo not to be inspected we will have so much v8's
I don't think of this when I think of an American car. Usually what I think is the VW Fusca. There are so many of those across America,!
@@TheAllMightyGodofCod I know what you’re trying to do but even still VW is a German company.
1:50 "Sevrolet Suburban"
caught it
I have watched this video 8 times at least and never noticed that
Matt25675 caught it a year before you did. You must give him all your thumb-ups!
"smokes like Oswald's rifle" had me rolling on the floor. I'm sure there is a more accurate simile but this one was very American and shocking. Good job!
We had a 1990 Suburban. My wife never drove anything that big before so when she’d drive it to the grocery store she’d park waaayyy out there in the parking lot so as not to bump into anything. Then she got used to it, we have a 1999 Suburban now and my wife can park that thing where a motorcycle wouldn’t fit.
Same. Mom mom drove around an 1973 Oldsmobile Regency for decades. Thing was 3 feet short of a city bus. The looks people gave her as she just spun the wheel and slotted it into a parking space without having to BACK UP were priceless.
Each time I get notified of an upload from you, I excitedly rush to it and am never disappointed.
Nearing two years later, still feel the same way.
+Caleb Sålstrom Agreed
+Caleb Sålstrom Do I hear 3 years? lol This guys channel is purely amazing. Love his knowledge and sense of humor all rolled into one. It's like an automotive omlet of awesomeness.
Kuson2
Haha yes, 3 years!
Still watching, still enjoying. I just can't believe it's been this long. I feel like I wrote this post a few months ago. Crazy.
We still rollin' guys.
I had a ton of fun filming this. Thanks RCR team, I could not help but smile and laugh the whole video. Simply perfect.
9 years later, how’s the burban?
sevrolet shuburban
350 SBC: it works in trucks, it works in Corvettes, it works in station wagons.
brtshstelNot in Humvees though...
+brtshstel Love the old guy yelling "BY TURNASHUN, ERRRY 3FIDDY IS DA SAME!"
+brtshstel even works in many sbc swapped imports too
+brtshstel It works anywhere you need 175hp of bad fuel mileage and lackluster acceleration.
Ryan Barbolt
Sure, in the choked-up 1980s when a civic made 50 or less horsepower. The L48 (the first chevy 350) made 300hp and 380ft-ibs of torque, in 1967.
Blame the EPA. The 350 is a legend of a motor.
"IT WASN'T EARNED TO BE BURNED!" Classic! 'MURICA! FUCK YEA!
Damn I miss my old suburban I had right out of high school. So many memories of last minute beach trips week long camping trips. Those huge back seats come in handy to a young man still living with his parents.
So funny. I had a 91 with a 6.2 diesel and a banks turbo kit. It came with a Reagan Bush campaign sticker. And it ran on the tears of vegans. Not a day goes by I don't miss that beast.
Hehehe, i got similar dissapporving looks when i was driving my '94 (lifted/modified) bronco with a 351w and, admittingly, obnoxiously loud exhaust (I didn't put it on, the previous owner did but i didn't have the commitment to remove it so it stayed) but me and my "glugluglugluglu" 9mpg didn't care (my wallet cared though).
I understand you. I'm trying to get such a burb here in Europe (hope it works this year). But when I have it, I'll put a "go veggie" sticker on the cargo doors.
Damn, all you guys are so damn triggered.
Wasn't it ridiculously fuel efficient for its size?
I almost bought a similar burb with a 6.2 when I was first looking at vehicles, only reason I didnt was because some asshole bought it before I did.
FOR SIIIIIIIN
I used to work at the campus post office while I was attending college at ISU. They had this same vehicle in white which we used to driver mail to the departments outside of central campus. I was totally amazed it was something that was made in the 1990’s. I thought it was made in the 70’s. Also we used to race in this thing to see who could deliver the mail and compete their route the fastest. This involved a couple miles of a winding gravel road up the side of a mountain to deliver like 1 or 2 pieces of mail to the to the office of the underground particle accelerator research facility. We drove that suburban like it was a stolen rental trying to compete in a rally event . Luckily I never flipped it. But I heard the ridiculous tradition of racing that state government owned suburban continued after I left the job and some poor sophomore eventually did mange to get that thing to roll while racing down the mountain. Luckily the suburban was okay.
Canyonero!
I just love how this truck tries to be somewhat modern wit some parts from the 88 Silverado redesign like the grill and steering wheel, but still looks like its from the 70s
ACEcolorado1 At least it still looks wayyy better than anything you see on the road today not to mention that it has pure steel verses modern cars that have nothing but plastic eggshells.
it also has 95+ gmt400 side mirrors
That's why I loved my old 1991 Cadillac Brougham. Looked straight out of the 1970's, like something Lefty or Donnie Brasco would drive. Yet still new enough when I had it in the 2000's it was still reliable and looked like a new car, had "new car tech" like fuel injection(same engine as this suburban), overdrive transmission, ABS, got good gas mileage as well.
As a person from Pennsylvania, I appreciate all of the things only a Pennsylvanians would understand thrown into these videos.
I would like to know more :|
Nathan Whitney me to its so funny haha I get all of them
vtr0104 really the only the only good thing about living in pa is you get all mr regulars jokes
NJ gets them too
Justin Pino I would think the mid Atlantic also
I have a '92 Suburban, the beginning of the 9th generation, has the 350 TBI, has a few of the goodies of the older generation. Mine was a former police vehicle so it has less of the frills most of the 9th gens seem to have. Roll up windows, Silverado trim, bench seats everywhere. It also has the police push bumper, the spotlight and has 3/4 ton axles and 4 wheel drive. It scares people just by being near them. Nothing like a Suburban, NOTHING.
+Bayan1905 1992-1999 was the 8th generation GMT400 chassis, the 9th generation was the 2000-2009 GMT800 chassis.
I have a 96 w/ 6.5td I use to tow my toys and take long trips with the family . Its a Beast ! Its UGLY thoughlol.
*annoyed Bronco glares*
If I had the means, I'd commission you to read me bedtime stories. Please don't ever stop making these videos.
your enthusiasm for smoker windows always makes me happy. Reminds me of riding down to the hardware store with my dad and his friend while his friend rested his smoke against the slightly cracked triangular window.
Carcinogens are inherently nostalgic. Smoke, solvents, cooking meat, etc.
Regular Car Reviews is what Top Gear America needs to be.
"Out of the back hatch, I threw a potato sack, the contents of which were CRYING.
Through my Millard Filmore mask I yelled: YOU PASSED THE TEST LIKE ALL THE REST while the contents of a meatball sub rolled down the front of my white V-neck tee shirt."
this guy is a fucking poet
this was my favorite bit.
This sent me.
I've got an old 89 Burban good ol truck and I also have a 96 2500 suburban with a 454 and a 97 chevy k1500 4x4 suburban all of them almost have 300k still running strong Burbans are unstoppable
My 1990 Suburban is 2wd, still goes anywhere including off road and it recently clicked over past 337,000 miles. America, fu$% yeah!!!
354,000 as of tast night, in the past year I got rear ended by a Hyabusa & by a jacked up Ford Bronco... and i'm still driving it. #indestructible
How many now?
Silvester Humaj cool thing is those engines are really common and cheap so if the miles get too high you can just get another one
3 years late but how is/was it in the snow
You americans don't have idea how much lucky you have.
Here in Brazil we only have big plastic toys with tiny shit engines!
Gustavo Garcia Casagrande Sorry brother. :(
Gustavo Garcia Casagrande guy....you have them girls with the big bootys
While I do feel as though many American cars can be nice due to their size doesn't Brazil have a wider range of fuels available? I watched a documentary a while ago that said you in Brazil have Methanol available to use which sounds like it could work nicely. We don't have Methanol at most fuel stations here; here, it's mostly used as racing fuel and fuel tank antifreeze (I don't suppose gasoline freezes much anymore but maybe it still can happen at -30 F.)
It's Ethanol that is available in Brazil, not Methanol (that would be awesome though). As a fuel, ethanol avalability is crop season dependant, it's price is closely related to region (not cheap everywhere), and the performance on cold days (below 60º F)is quite terrible, so much that flexible fuel cars need a small gas unit to burn in case of cold weather until the engine warms up. The other option of fuel (besides diesel, wich is only used in small pick-ups and above) is Natural Vehicular Gas (not gasoline, a litteral gas, basically a fart your car burns), a underpowering, sub-implemented joke of a fuel, wich is used only by taxis and by desperate people because it is farily cheap. This cheapness, of course, is relative to the gasoline price wich is, as of april 2018, costing 1,25 US DOLLARS for about a QUARTER of a GALLON. If we haven't had "them girls with the big bootys", this place would suck.
mpg what is that, said america. You just put fuel in the hole in the back every 2 days and your fine.
YEA!!!!!!! MURRICA!!!!!!!!!!!! *Refills 408 stroker for 3rd time this week*
+mutiracialbeatdownPB fuck yeah
Seim Old DickHead Funny thing is I used to get 11.3 with the 360 now I'm up to 17.6 if I drive sane.
*BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR SKREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE*
*RACING TO THE STOP LIGHT*
Aaaah the sound of a Chevy small block idling! Never gets old!
That was the most loaded ending at 3:13 ive ever seen on these videos.
Had to replay that shit like three times just to get it.
well you could tell he actually liked this one compared to some of the others
i'm european and how did you know i want this.
Dafoodmaster he just does
Dafoodmaster Because you're European.
For the same reason I want a 206. It's different.
Kinda late but in my neighborhood there is 2 chevrolet suburban one old one qnd one new one it had video on youtube and if you want i can link it and the dude dailyes some buick too qnd it sounds so fking good. If new inspection law comes thru we will have even more v8's and you can watch jamboolios videos that are mostly recorded in finland qnd ssee we love v8's but im jdm guy myself
Forgot to mention but the law is that cars older than 40yo dont need to be inspected
2:08 "Armrests get asstrays."
How unsanitary and impractical.
I don't give a shit, I want one of these to fuck around in. Squarebody GMs are beautiful.
Chevy Suburban, the official car of passing out in your backyard after seeing ducks
We had a 1989 suburban. It had a massive roof rack mounted to it and was used to tow boats and transport Girl Scouts. It had the infamous defective Goodyear tires as one point that delaminated on the freeway and pulled us across three lanes of traffic. The damage was repaired with black bolted wheel fenders (on a white suburban) that truly made the thing look beastly. We had it until 2001.
These trucks are indeed respectable. My dad has owned several of these SUV's throughout the 70's and up to the last one being in 2009, which was an 88 Blazer. While they all had a ton of issues in regards to quality, they always got us from point A to point B! Long live GM's body-on-frame full size SUV's!
Canyonero
Mladen Milić can ya name the truck with four wheel drive?
Mladen Milić give me a good time ydifsigsfisixkgxjfzifsktwtosgkzitsitsitsifsifsogxotsifsi witsogsotd is having a good to see what he wants us to get back from visiting the morning I fart I don't know what you're looking at this is my dog and eat with you have to get a few different ones I
12.5mpg? In the UK as of now a car with 30mpg is questionable to own, especially if it's a 'SUV'
12.5 in American MPGs, 15.01 equivalent to Imperial MPGs. Still not cheap.
Austin Lucas Jesus, I don't think ANYONE in the UK would want 15MPG... we need double that.
Edit: Avg fuel price for unleaded petrol is 116.78 pence per liter
What about in 1990?
Mind you this proto-SUV is 27 years old. It was built at a time when gas was cheap and global warming wasn't on the forefront of everyone's mind.
I suppose in 1990 fuel here was cheap, that's 10 years before the OG Mini ended production.
My bother has a 1988 burban, ran like shit with TBI, just replaced it with a new eldebrock performer intake and new 650 cfm carb and has been running like a new truck for the last 4 years..good riding box of a truck, great on trips..just bring wallet for gas..lol
yeah man, the 80's suburban and blazers are beasts. We had a couple of the military use versions in our motor pool at Camp Geiger. We put those trucks through hell and back but couldn't break them. I'm a Ford guy but I've always had a soft spot for these vehicles.
TheMeanmarine13 What about the 73-80? They are basically the same trucks.
fallen6191q2w Could have been, they were the boxy body style, very sturdy
TheMeanmarine13 Yes, I daily a 85 Suburban, built 350, 6 inch lift and some 35" Super Swampers, TH700R4 trans NP208 and Corp 10 bolt diffs, and I also own a 81 Blazer.
fallen6191q2w Damn, sounds like a beast. I'm sure you get the urge to go off road on a daily basis haha
I usually watch a couple of these videos before bed, and I can honestly say that I still believe this is the the tightest, most concise RCR ever. There are some better, but not many that deliver as tight a grouping of philosophy and humor.
Stock throttle body fuel injection sucks.
It's the worst parts of a carbs (inefficiency, constant maintenance) and the worst part of fuel injection (complexity), with none of the benefits either
(tun-ability - carbs; and efficiency - fuel injection).
Really? I've owned 4 TBI injected cars and they were the polar opposite of your evaluation of TBI.
dstarks80 Were they stock or aftermarket/performance units cause I'm referring to factory or stock units, which were usually designed to keep cost down while they developed multi-port fuel injection systems.
pbfloyd13 Mine were the stock GM TBI's. 3 Cadillac's and 1 Chevy. One of the Cadillac's I owned used a slightly different TBI called Digital Fuel Injection. The only difference was a different Idle speed control system on the Digital Fuel Injection. Other than that, it was identical to Chevy's TBI.
All wrong. TBI is the world's SIMPLEST form of fuel injection ever created. TBI is the fuel injection system you want in a post apocalyptic world. Extremely simple, extremely reliable, extremely easy to repair. It's not sexy but it's bulletproof.
kevin9c1 I'd argue carbs are simpler to work on, and just as reliable.
you can conceive deliver and raise a full family here hahaha
My mom's absolute favorite car our family owned was the Suburban 1998. The thing was just absolutely huge, and her favorite phrase was "Don't you try me, I'm bigger than you and I'll take you out" whenever someone would cut in front of her or do something stupid.
Man, you plinketted real hard at the end there
slothfulcobra full time and I don't know what you have a great day today r in the morning around for you to go pick it up on me to get the schedule and see if you want me to leave at this point in a minute I don't want
Our family car growing up was a 90 burb. I was nearly delivered in the passenger seat as my dad drove to the hospital.
My dad ended up parking it and bought my mom a new Tahoe. The burb then sat for 10 years before I did a bunch of work to it. It just hit 100k miles. I have redone all the interior except getting the seats reupholstered. Love the car.
I love my suburban.
Nano Texx Yeah we got a 2015 Chevrolet Tahoe (A Shorter Suburban) the last day of Jan but be4 that we had an '02 Gmc Yukon. The Yukon was liked better by me.
As a man who actually left a howard johnson's in shame I approve of this video
My Guardian Angel can reach Mach 2.4 speeds...all i need now is a car that's fast enough.
Thee Adjudicator says that you can just ask the way home now so I don't think it worked for a week ago and I am in a few hours here for you have to get back from visiting a little early to the store and get a few days of Whitney and I will come later on the wedding because of a picture of the house and get some rest in the parking g and you don't mind coming to get the pictures are not a hybrid vehicle is having an hour don't have a great time and the books they were staying with us which I will be in the morning by ex is having an impact and you i w Ana s welcome a!w Bush!
🚀
Join the Air Force.
Once again, fuckin hilarious... these videos would still be hilarious to me otherwise, but being from eastern PA and the fact that regular car guy is also from PA makes these vids extra special for me because here and there he says things that i know the average slob gets, but just doesnt thoroughly understand... shout out to the northeast extension lol
Keep up the good work
Here's to taking 309 when you don't have EZ-Pass or pocket change.
*cheers*
RegularCars 33 north to 80 west to 115 north FTW LoL.... shout out to EZ pull in new ringold and Harry's u pull it in Hazelton, without you my life would be much more expensive *cheers*
My Dad had a '76 in some strange red. It used more fuel with a tail wind. It also had manual vents with pulls in the foot wells!
Awesome!
He sold it in 91 to a very large biker that said "I always pay cash" whipped out a 4" thick wad of bills, pealed some off and went on his way.
Dude, if you're ever in Montreal, I'd so let you drive my 2001 Jetta TDI with 250 000km
Holy shit I'm fucking dying. This is one of the best so far.
Those 350s will go for ever. This vid now occupies a special place in my heart because it was what I HAD to drive when I was a teen, and I loved it.
It didnt have a throttle, it had a go button.
"smokes like Oswald's rifle"
YOU PASSED THE TEST LIKE ALL THE REST
Oh man, I've missed the nutty parts of the reviews! More of that!
Its funny because the grand am looks like a grand prix with rolls and a wife beater covered in BBQ sauce. So basically the person that drives it.
I grew up with this as the family car (2003-2011) it’s probably one of the toughest reliable vehicles if you take care or it.
my father had one when I was a kid and now I'm 21 and I still think this is the best car ever !!
12.5 MPG? That's ever worse than a V12 Mercedes-Benz from the 90's.
+Philip Cooper The 8th generation Suburbans/Tahoes got even worse economy, the 7th gen could get better since it was still carburated.
This car comes from a time where you could just spill fuel on the ground at the gas station on purpose say "Ooopsie daisy!" and walk away without anyone really caring for it.
13i0Hazard666 Why would people care if you spilled gas now a days? It's your money thats being wasted not theirs.
BlackHawkBallistic
Anyone includes the person that spills it and in other countries people really frown upon anyone that's using (often referred to as wasting by them) more fuel than them for whatever purpose.
13i0Hazard666 Ah, I've only been outside the US once and didn't drive so I didn't know that. I've seen people overflow tanks by accident before and I've done it myself and it's never been a big deal, I usually just curse a little if I overflow or laugh a little at the person that overflows but I've never judged someone because they spilled a little gas. I guess it's just a culture difference between living in the US and living elsewhere.
Had one in highschool I bought with my summer job for $1100, loved it and still miss it. It's the ultimate camping vehicle, way more useful than the modern ones and has endless aftermarket support.
AWWW! You've ended up reviewing the two most memorable cars of this 25 year old's childhood. Ok, your Caprice was a 1992 and my parent's was a 1993. And your Suburban was a 1990 Suburban and their Blazer was a 1984 K5 Blazer. But, CLOSE E-FUCKING-NOUGH! At least the exterior and interior colors matched on the Caprice (but yours had the skirted rear wheels, you try-hard hipsters!) And our Blazer WAS black, albeit with a beige interior. Still, thanks a million for the memories. Seriously, holy fuck, emotion! Fuck these fucking rose tinted specs! >:(
haha that was quite witty, you should consider doing a few reviews yourself and see what happens. I'm a youtube junky so I would probably subscribe lol
I have an 86 K5 Blazer and I still feel a lot of this was true, even the thumb tacks holding my headliner up! :D
They just restored a 69 K5 on this weeks "counting cars" episode. Turned out great I think
short video but on point, no overboard jokes, mild transition of footage...sir. you got a new sub.
"Smokes like Oswald's Rifle" priceless! I wish I got 12.5mpg, I'm happy to hit 9 in mine.
Had an aftermarket crate motor and dual exhaust on mine, got 18 highway with it and 325 horses
Mine's a 1999 with the 6.5 Turbo Diesel, I frequently get 20 MPG in it on the road; I do however usually use 5w40 oil as 15w40 sucks mileage. They aren't problem free though, stock oil cooler lines can pop easily from the C Clip design.
Duramax6600TT sounds awesome man what year is you're suburban and what engine is it.
My mom had a 1994 Suburban, which was the next generation. It wasn't as extreme as this one but by today's standards it looked badass.
My ex-step dad had one of these, but it was a GMC Suburban, but still around the same age. I'm pretty sure the GMC Suburban is just another badge version of the Chevy.
GMC is the same truck, but with better suspension, nicer interiors and better performing engines. Sometimes other features may come with GMC as well.
team0blackmanner They are 100% identical, Only thing that differed is trim levels like "Custom" or "Silverado"
casada70 They are not. GMCs come with high performance shocks. Denalis are the extremely high end GMCs. Depending on the platform, GMCs may also come with better engines. Sierra to Silverado is like Buick to Cadillac.
team0blackmanner Not for the Suburbans, or the pickups.
team0blackmanner That's only been the case since about 2000.
Before that they were just blatant identical rebadges.
YOUVE PASSED THE TEST LIKE ALL THE REST made me literally keel over with laughter. the little Nixon jowl wiggle made my year so far.
These suburbans get even cooler with a 3v53 Detroit diesel.
Rolling coal pisses off Prius drivers so much, it is nearly Federal Law to do so in the presence of one! 2003 diesel Chevy Dually!
3v53? That would be a v3 engine, those old Detroit's the first number was the number of cylinders, the last number would be the cubic inches per cylinder, if it was in a v configuration it would have a "v" after the first number, if it was inline it would just be a "-" , and if it ended with "t" it had a turbo, if it was "tt" it was twin turbos
My dad had that things little brother, a first gen Tahoe. Finally rusted through last year with just short of 300k hard earned miles. And it took it like a champ. Classic chevys are beasts.
lol the Grand Am was like 3100 lbs
awesome truck! My grandparents had a 1984 suburban. I remember riding in it. It was like a tank! They had it until 2007!
might be the best thing i have ever seen
i have a 97 suburban with 236k on it. still in great shapes and runs great. hands down still one of my favorite vehicles simply because of durability and comfort. been one of the cheapest cars ive seen to maintain. theres been more done to my camaro in a week than this cars entire life.
You guys were hilarious on TheSmokingTire

This thing is from 1990? Looks like '70s vintage .... 0:47 "The 8th Generation Suburban was produced all the way from 1973 to 1991." Ah, that explains it. Didn't change much over that time, did it?
us car you want this? whe don't want cars from america they are bad quaility
How is this truck unreliable or bad quality? It will last for over 300,000 miles, I wanna see one of your European cars consistently do this.
dj brannon People here usually think of the 90s "plastic era" when American cars' interiors were made mostly out of plastic (a lot of European cars had that as well anyway). I would absolutely love to have a big V8 as an engine. The displacement and over all size is a much more reliable platform than the small 1.4 Turbos we got here. I envy your cars and gas prices!
Thank you for actually understanding american cars.
dj brannon i'm pretty sure any european car will last 300k on a regular basis.
nuttyjunior Some cars, old generation Volvos and Mercedes sure. Modern ones not at all.
I have had 4 suburban's. an 89, 92, 94 and an 03. I still have the 94 and the 03 is my daily driver. I have 4 kids and a minivan just wont cut it. I need 4X4 living in northern MN. My 94 is my plow truck however it will be retired after this winter and used strictly as a backup truck because the plow sucks ass. the truck is still in decent shape considering it has 300,000 miles on it. I am getting a new plow on my 03 and if it pushes snow even half as good as the 94 it will make an awesome plow rig. Suburban's are well balanced and have plenty of weight behind them witch makes them ideal for snowplowing. where I live a guy needs 4X4. my driveway is long and it snows like no tomorrow up here. I can haul my whole family plus my in-laws so we do not have to take 2 vehicles if we all decide to go to the metro area witch is about a 6 hour drive from here. bring some DVDs and the kids are happy. They also make awesome tow vehicles. I moved a 8' X 12' X 12' building that is insulated and finished 60 miles with no issues with my 94 until it came time to remove it from the trailer but that's a whole other subject. Yes suburban's have a few flaws like they are a pain in the ass to park in a parking garage or some parking lots, they are not the greatest on fuel and it is very easy for kids to hide junk in places you would never think of but overall they are damn good trucks and as long as all 4 of my kids live at home I will keep at least one on hand. it is a very versatile platform to do the job. weather its heavy towing, pulling cars out of the ditch, hauling the family or removing snow its a very well rounded vehicle.
