Damn this truck makes me want to drink a beer and yell about the government overreach while driving to the VA for my pain meds.
@ConcealCarryProtect; Holy fucking shit, you just nailed this thing. This might be the most underrated comment I’ve seen on an RCR. Up here in my hillbilly af corner of the Rockies, that’s 110% of C5 owners and is what I expected to hear about and see when I clicked on this vid, not Mr. GreenDay who owns it. This points out how crazy the cultural differences between PA and the Rocky Mountain states are. The Tacoma vid was the next biggest disconnect for me. That dude/culture is nothing like Tacoma owners I recognize out here.
🤣🤣🤣
hooah
👍🇺🇸
So what does owning a fixed up M998 you bought at government auction say?
Don't have one I wish
"Fuel economy? Don't ask!"
I can relate to that...
Yeah, that's what my 97 K1500 V8 was like. I do kinda miss it.
@@BluegrassFilmsKY I still want to know how jeep made the 4.0 so fuel innefficient like 19 mpg wtf
i have a 77 chevy 1/2 ton.... original 400 small block, 3 speed auto with no OD or lockup TC..... and FULL TIME 4 wheel drive...
it gets 10mpg.... loaded, unloaded, headwind, tailwind.... it gets 10mpg
@@joshuaadler4259 i get 23 in my 97 grand Cherokee.....
and look at it this way..... the modern day pickups with v8s and quite a few v6s STILL only get 18 to 25 mpg
@@kainhall I get 12 at best
13 GODDAMN TRANSMISSIONS.That kinda devotion is impressive.
Not really when you consider people still take care of rotary engines.
He's been getting shitty transmission
Looks so high off the ground you probably don't even need to jack anything up to get it out.
Would a Manual have lasted longer?
13 is insane. $3 grand a pop probably.
Doubt that, @@ninjamaster3453. Standard rebuilt 700r4s are around 1500 fora good rebuild. i bet he's been going through junkyard and craigslist 700r4s.
I have a 1990 Blazer that I bought fresh out of high school. She's been my daily driver for 24 years. 610,000 miles on the original engine and still strong. 100k+miles pulling a trailer. She's been to ver 100 concerts and I wouldn't trade her for the world.
wood butcher hey they do bad mpg right because of how high they are should I get a 90 blazer or a 95 Tahoe or a suburban or a 95 ford bronco
@@AlejandroP1980s the Blazer is a classic that you would need to be able to work on... Tahoe or burban would be less maintenance. Gas mileage shouldn't be an consideration for any of the vehicles you mentioned...they all get very poor ( 8-12 mpg) according to how you drive it
Nice
I call bullshit on 610,000 miles
@@AlejandroP1980s the price on broncos is being artificially inflated and out of reasonable price for most. The tahoe is ifs, if your more commuter miles then truck use then thats the better truck. Tahoes are also cheaper then k5s right now, more bang for your buck in a sense. But if your like me, use it offroad and haul motorcycles/parts all the time the k5 with its solid axle and removable top are huge selling points.
Look at you RCR, delivering even in the last day of the year. This is why I like you. Happy new year ppl.
Wait, Marauder guy also has a K5? Frickin sweet
I hope he still owns the Marauder
Somebody once told me the world is gonna roll me...
Explains why this has been through 13 transmissions. I seem to remember that Marauder being sloppily maintained and taken care of as well
@@5liter sure looks good, though.
Houses of the holy is amazing from beginning to end, but it’s no Zep 3
Had an 88 K5 until it was stolen, still have it today otherwise. That thing was a beast. I remember after one big snowstorm pulling a bunch of cars (and a Jeep) out of a 5' snowbank. Loved that truck.
10:12 "Look at him! I bet he porks no handed." LMAO!!
"I wish I had less morals". Story of my freakin' life.
I have an assignment in graphic design school where we have to make cover art for a book. I had no idea what to make it for so my teacher recommended On the Road since he knew I'm a car guy. Reading and loving it now and just got the Kerouac reference at the start of the video!
My K5 was my 2nd favorite vehicle I every owned. My favorite was my Gran National GNX
Oh. You sold your GNX? Wow one of the rarest muscle cars ever made and you sold it. Damn that s too bad. Hope you got good money for it.
NOT A HORSE
Makes me proud to work on my old truck. Never buying anything newer than 1995.
I'm 19 and have had 3 vehicles so far not a single one of them were newer than 95 iv had a 95 Chevy Cheyenne a 95 Dodge caravan and now I have a 91 S10
My buddy had a ‘78 K5 in high school, he’d pick me up as we were neighbors and take me to school in it. It was the coolest truck ive ever been in, as it was a custom job. Kind of a pimp truck. It had bad shocks in the back so it would almost touch the ground. And one time we were getting out of the drive way and a wheel fell right off. Just like the one in the vid lol
2:42 thats me looking for a car
My name is Gerald
Stevie Ray died in a helicopter crash. Stll another great guitarist murdered by heavier than air vehicles.
Damn you Orville and Wilbur, DAMN YOU!!!!!
PS: Dom, props for the Suicidal Tendencies gear!
All vehicles are heavier than air.
@@afcgeo882 Not Blimps, Zeppelins, or hot air/gas balloons. Classified as lighter than air.
Seth Thomas They are only classified as that because of the gasses they are filled with, which greatly reduces their density. Otherwise they are much heavier than air, I assure you.
@@afcgeo882 WHAT?!?! Yer shitting me....
My best friend in college had a white & red 85(?) K5 Blazer. That thing was a tank. A lot of drunken 4wheeling was done it. The fiberglass top weighed about 5,000 lbs but you could take it off. And who doesn't love a rear window that rolls down?
GM Square Body: The official truck/SUV of Fox News, Budweiser, and the NRA.
twotailedavenger and having a homemade wood gun rack on either side of the trunk
I put a coexist sticker on mine to be ironic
And a faded Reagan 84 sticker!
And confederate flags dispite being in a Union state
I still have mine that I bought in 1985 and it's still mint, dumped the 305 for a crate 5.7, standard quadrajet and manual transmission. It'll go anywhere a jeep will go and with more low end power. Now which son will get it is the problem.
Okay I want to see that judge Judy episode if they actually made it
"WeLL Ya DiD MakE mA WhEeLs fALl oFf..."
I bought a 76 GMC Jimmy a few weeks ago. Needs ALOT of work if it will ever see the road again but so far been a great plow truck.
Best car i owned, had a 89 in early 90s , raised from new with 35s , arb lockers and warn winches
I went to high school with this guy. Southside Chicago was a fun place to go to school.
Dude looks like some my teenage / early 20s friends in the 90s / early aughts. Love that these guys still exist.
I've got a k5 with a 350 but its been passed down through family. Its mine now and that has taken so much abuse through even just me. Strong trucks
I know it’s been a few years but where can I listen to this band in 2022?
On my 3rd, 1980 K-5, 1989 GMC Jimmy and my current daily driver the 1998 2door Tahoe. Chevy really needs to bring these back.
So many great memories in this specific Blazer cruising with Dominic.
I had this car. It was literally terrifying. If there was any moisture on the road whatsoever and you dared to touch the brakes it was a guaranteed amusement park ride.
Don't forget the 92-94 K-5 Blazer. Those trucks were the last of their kind, for sure. Before Chevy stretched the wheelbase to offer a 4-door model we know today as the Tahoe.
2:35 "The K5 Blazer is one of the most modern cars you can still buy that is ALL METAL"
That is the exact damn reason I bought a really nice and original condition 1991 Cadillac Brougham D'Elegance back in 2008, drove it through 2011 as my daily driver, rolled that odometer from 100k to 130k. Yes it looked like an old school 1970's Cadillac.
Under the skin it was a 1991 Chevrolet truck, same 350 TBI engine, same 700R4 trans, same 8.5" rear end. Thus it was stone stupid simple and very reliable. I had all the maintenance receipts, it had a lot of work done right before I bought it, new shocks, new plugs, new dist cap and rotor, rear air ride worked great. It was stone stupid reliable the whole time I had it, the only real issue I had were the front brakes needing a refresh and the sunroof motor crapping out on me.
About half way through i had to stop. Friend had a rusty trusty k5 in high school, drove it around like a compact car. Man it was cool.
K5 Blazer. The perfect car for your cigarette smoking, beer swilling truck driver dad. A man who never comes home and drives across the country six days a week, and his wife works at a supermarket while his (her) kids get raised by their grandparents in the trailer park because neither of you can afford to stop working, and you're trying to get far enough in the marriage to get one kid out of the house before you ultimately get divorced...
Your point is?
I wish they just made a two-door Tahoe and called it the Blazer instead of that shitbox crossover they released recently. yah know, Just like the ones from the 90s. I hope the new Bronco ain't a disappointment.
My first car was a k5 blazer. I loved you Bertha
K5's are sweet, though... No better option for zombie apocalypse rig, since -legacy parts-....
Plus, anything you want, you can find somewhere in your local Pick n Pull yard... Probably why and how he's gone through 13 transmissions (and counting)... In fact, if you -can't- find a part for your K5 Blazer or K10 pickup in a junk yard, the problem isn't the yard; it's YOU... Go look harder, the part you're looking for IS out there in that yard somewhere...
The way you talk about "new trucks" giving you room, I feel the same in my jeep xj
Love the old c10s/ k10 /blazers lot of fun to drive
9:35 "This truck will survive the accident I dunno about its fleshy, mostly water inhabitants, but the K5 will be fine." I knew a guy with one of these that had a throttle malfunction and ended up driving his truck through someone's house into their living room. He ended up being okay though, and the truck runs to this day with no more than a little damage to the bumper and grill (which caused the hood to be stuck closed for a while)
one of the best end credits songs
0:37 riding in Billy joe Armstrong's Blazer is classic!!
0:06 as someone who drives a Saturn s series, yes happens all the time and it's terrifiying
I bought my 1987 K-5 for around $24k and I was 21..That damn thing should have killed me!! My God I beat the crap out of it. The 350 was the balls and the bloody thing went everywhere. I remember racing a Mustang on the highway heading to a hockey game with 4 of my friends. It was stolen twice from my house and after the second time I realized everyone else thought its was awesome as well!!
13 transmissions?! I have a 90 square body Suburban and I replaced the factory unit 5 years ago. 176k miles. Jeeesus
SoCalSlaughter right , somethings not right
I used love driving my dads 1979 blazer k was like operating heavy machinery
I love the look of these.
Houses of the holy is a delight, people today dont even know whom we are talking about, most people dont even listen to that genre, i own a bronco fullsize the enemy of this truck but same goals and aspirations, built with the same purposes in mind…
If im not wrong it looks like part of this video was filmed partially in Muncie, Indiana.
Besides his hair color choice, this kids got good taste. Drives a K5 Blazer and listens to Suicidal Tendencies🤘🏽🤘🏽🔥🔥👌🏽
K5 Blazer .......when 80 year old men designed interiors.
73-75 K5s also had full tops. If you rip the doors off it's like a jeep, but for men.
My friend restored a '91 K5 Scottsdale, made it almost a new car. And then he SOLD IT! For...reasons.
I ain't getting tired of telling him how bag'o'hammers dumb he is at least for a couple dozen next years.
"Just another life in the day of a K-5."
Yeah, something like that.
Quad exhaust is always cool
Love the Blazers. I'll keep my 2000 with 230k over that new Blazer unibody fwd pos
K5 blazers were great suvs. Cruise control. 4x4. Mpg gauge
That's very rust free for a vehicle that lives/lived (still has IL plates) around Chicago.
This seems like the kind of truck that is owned by someone who lives in a rented hunting cabin year round and is constantly covered in mud.
Still a good looking truck. Proof that simple designs are better.
Whaaaaaa, I own an 85 k5 blazer and I never knew they had the option for dual sunroofs, at least for the later models
Street Taco dealer installed
The band name is Private Instigators, not Investigators.
Those are some skinny ass tires. I love it
0:40 is that a datsun in the snow??
Just another life in the day of a K5.
Tell that guy to make sure all the bolts in the steering box are tight. There shouldn't be that much slop. Or it's possible the frame is cracked.
Azathoth43 got into a crash a few months back and haven’t gotten it aligned yet.
I have a 1975 GMC Pick up and its almost exactly the same truck except no 4x4. I love it dearly, these old Squarebodys will live on long past most modern hybrids battery life, if they dont drink up all the gas before that happens
As the transmissions it must be he beats the hell out of it
Because the TH 350 transmission as long as you changed the fluid every 30 K you should be good to go.
I miss my 89 Blazer
My father in law has a couple k5s. One I plowed with for years, 9ft blade on it. I loved that fuckin thing, rotted to hell (upstate ny) but it was a little powerhouse. It was perfect for plowing driveways
Hey easy now ... I'm trans and luv K5 Blazers!!
Bronco's are the man's truck!
I hope they bring this car back, like ford is with the Bronco
For people with the Green Day comments. The owner looks like Tre Cool, the drummer. Will not have a problem pointing out. Yes. It’s 2018 and the guy reminds me of the year 2000, when people feared Y2K and developed an obsession of dying their hair...
When the same guy lets you drive his rare Marauder.
The K5 Blazer is a big boys' toy.
Tbh I do miss angerly shutting my flip phone closed.
Gotta love a squarebody
Damn, 13 transmissions? Are they forgetting to adjust the TV cable, or losing fluid? That's not normal LOL.
Now that you mentioned my first car, OLDSMOBILE ALERO OLDSMOBILE ALERO OLDSMOBILE ALERO
Is that outtro song a make over of a a real song? Or an RCR original? Its catchy
It's a shame what GM did to the new Blazer coming out.
Also, lol that Matt Farahs Lexus is in the background xD
Now I want to watch a Episode of the Fall Guy after seeing this........
SUVs have gotten smaller, cars and mini pickups have gotten huge. WTF
I didn’t know Billie Joe Armstrong owned a Blazer.
I see you, 1st gen Celica on sticky tires.
I'll have my 79 K5 blazer operating one day.
13 transmissions sounds a bit excessive. I know the 700r4 isn’t the best but something’s not right. My blazer has only had 2 transmissions I think. And I’m at almost 200k
1:42 my man has a good taste of music suicidal tendencies are fuckin killer
I like the unmatching tires 🤣
Crazy part is, Chevy milked another model year of this 20 year old design until they replaced it 1992.
This is such a silly video, but I just love these trucks. I'd take one any day over my cheap foreign box. 😢
Is that Matt Farrahs MILLION MiLE LEXUS in the background?
Hey Jamie! Jamie? Can you pull up that prolapse video? Wow. Look at that.
Damn, you should've had Dom's band do your outro song, oh well
The speedometer and gas gauge race each other
Happy new year
It's like driving a terrarium.
that truck has potential. dont know why he's treating it like a beater
