There had been guys who recovered and came back but were shells of their former self. We also have to give credit to his doc who also became a superstar in the sports medicine world after that. His procedures are now the standard.

His ability to get pass the first wave of defense and visually see where he has to go at break neck speed is unmatched. He was also a violent runner he didn’t try and avoid being hit he wanted to hit you and run through you. That Hitstick ability on The Madden video game was made for him. When the runner would truck you on Hitstick that’s Adrian Allday Peterson all the way.
A lot of people don't realize that the year he came up 7 yards short of the record, he was on limited touch count for the first 6 games because he was coming off the knee injury. He could've shattered the record.
