When I was a little girl my friend who lived next door was called Dagmar, she was from Germany. Every year her grandma used to send her these little black very salty sweets. I’m not sure if they weren’t in the shape of little cats. I used to love them😋 Anyway time rolls on and Dagmar and I lost touch many many years ago. I am now 66 and I still occasionally think of the excitement when I knew Dagmars grandma had sent her Christmas sweets all the way from Germany. 😁👍
Good evening you two smashing people, always look forward to and love your sharing with us. I'm really not sure how much you know how we all love to come and see you sharing your home with us and your delicious recipes. After watching I always feel so peaceful and relaxed, thank you so much. With all the chaos going on in the world right now joining you both in your home is a real blessing. Thank you. ❤️
Watching you eat together always makes me happy. You have created a very genteel life together and I appreciate you sharing so many wonderful traditions.
Those biscuits are so much better than Gingerbread! I know there is a German word for cozy and home like. It describes the home you have together. You have a home that you do things together, cook and bake, decorate, work in, relax , and plan trips. What a beautiful life you and your husband share together. And the best part for me is that you share the sunshine you create and bring some light into my life!
It’s fun to see English traditions and the countryside, especially when I can’t visit. As soon as COVID has passed, I’m packing my bags from Minnesota and visiting Great Britain. Keep the videos coming, it helps in lockdown!
Me too!!! I've done my 23andme test so I can visit exactly where I'm from. Plus surprised to see some German DNA from the Schleswig-holstein region (which I know nothing about). This is the perfect planning time, pls share any details for those of us who don't know where to start. Xo
My friend and I went to Germany in 1982. We went to Frankfurt, Munich (Oktoberfest), Heidelberg, a short cruise from Mainz to Cologne. We went to 3 of King Ludwig of Bavaria’s castles, including Neuschwanstein. We also went to the Black Forest. Itdefinitely went to make Germany 🇩🇪 one of our favorite countries. My friend bought a cuckoo clock. I bought 3 beer steins, one to my Dad, one to my brother and one to a then boyfriend. My husband now has my Dad’s (deceased in 1987). Such wonderful memories. We also want to go to Austria. I have never been to Vienna, just to Salzburg. Just loved it. Sorry to be so long winded. Love your ornaments.
Sat down with a cup of tea, at the end of a long busy day, in my chair by the Round Oak stove and was thrilled to see there is a Kirsten and Joerg video. I've barely even started it and had to comment how happy I was.
So very lovely! From the magenbrot, the tea, and your paint & carpet choices! You are so descriptive, I can almost taste the biscuits and tea! ☺️ The Christmas tree in the kitchen is such a good choice, as we, like you, spend quite a lot of time in our kitchen. Also, can’t wait to see the finished attic room & landing. Your carpet & paint choices are perfect. Thank you for sharing with us!
I LOVED watching this video. The combination of cooking, German traditions and updates to your lovely home are so delightful to watch. I always chuckle when I see Joerg tasting sweets because he seems to love them so much! I was laughing out loud when he said the tea needed sugar. I look forward with anticipation to your next video. Stay safe and well.
I think the Christmas tree should be wherever you spend the most time so you can enjoy it! It’s so charming in the kitchen. And the attic room is going to be fabulous when it’s finished. It‘s a great space!
The Magenbrot and glazing look wonderful, and so easy to make. My husband is first generation Hungarian. His father was a trained pastry chef. He even baked for the refuge camp residents . His mother’s family and just his father(no one knows what happened to his family) were all at Plattlingly. When they all got to the States they all lived together (14 people by the time Skee and his sister were born). Skee says there were long rolls of the Magenbrot all over the kitchen. Then Skee and his sister would take pieces to neighbors and teachers. I will print this out and Skee can have something he learned to make in the German refuge camp. Thank you for making this. So excited to taste something Skee and family had every Christmas. Love the tree. Perfect paint colors..Those stairs are designed just like Skee’s Aunts House built in 1901, Victorian house..

So thank you both very much. Solstice Blessings to you both 🙏
Love what your doing with the home. Here in America everything is made no cheaply, build it, tear it down, on and on. In Europe they build to last, and I live it. Great job!
Thanks so much! Oh sadly it's the same here in the UK I'm afraid especially the new houses are a nightmare (everything is so cheap and terrible; it's sadly very different to Germany) which is why we wanted to have our own place so we can do it the way we want.
This looked delicious! So nice to get some baking ideas from other countries and to hear about other traditions. Your decorations look wonderful, you have a lovely home. Stay safe. X
I can't wait to bake this. I'll be going to my brothers, my sister in law recently passed..Alzheimer's..and he's been rather lonely. I'm making all our favorite things, our most favorite, mom's hot German potato salad, which for some reason was always saved for special occasions.? This will be a nice addition to our after supper football watching. GO RAVENS. Thanks for sharing your German heritage, I'm finding out more about my own.
The tree is in the perfect spot for you. No tradition except the one you make for yourselves. The carpeting will be beautiful. What do your table linens look like? This is so nice of you to invite me for Xmas decorating and baking. Makes me happy. Thank you both for your hospitality.💕😊
Baking is such an important part of the whole christmas feeling and I think each family has their own recipes. For me there is no christmas without Vanillekipferl. And this year selfmade Weihnachtsstollen, since my partner needs them in great amounts to stay happy through the season ... The color Jörg choosed is definitely the best. It looks warm and light and is not princess pastels ...
I enjoyed everything in this video, never bored watching. 😊 I really like the tree in the kitchen, so festive. I can’t believe the staircase changes...carpet is beautiful! ☺️🌲
Hello Kristen and Joerg, thank you for letting us into your lives, Haven't been able to see my family for nearly a year, we keep in touch, for me you are my mind family keeping me up to date with life, so very reassuring and helpful, thank you so much. X
The attic room is going to be beautiful.Love the paint colors and the carpet is perfect. Would have so enjoyed a cuppa with you and a taste of magenbrot. Your Christmas tree is very pretty and I love it in the kitchen. Thank you for sharing your German Christmas traditions. Again, I say you are such a lovely couple. Stay safe. Much love.
Never worry about your video content - I love absolutely everything you do and I expect most of your viewing public feel the same 😊 I just wish you were on 24 hours a day! 😂
You two are so sweet to watch❤️ My husband and I have been married 40 years and you two remind me of the love we have for each other. The new ornament are so beautiful(the rooster too😊). Looking forward to your next video. Stay safe🙏
I am loving all of your decorating choices! What you baked reminded me of biscotti. Now I have to make some 😊 Don’t worry, you are never ever boring!! I feel like such a welcomed guest in your home, even though I’m in the USA! 💞
Joerg seems to really enjoy baking and that is great! The Magenbrot looks so good! What a nice day, so good to see you again and thank you for the recipe! The new carpet choices are lovely as well as the paint. You have lovely taste.
Your channel is never boring! I love to see your German bakes and it’s interesting to see that you used honey when we so often use golden syrup and treacle in our recipes. We have also built cupboards into our loft space but we have made ours very deep so we have tall hanging space at the front then deep shelving at the back. I use the shelving for my shoes and handbags because I only use them occasionally. I do have to get down onto my hands and knees to get to the shelves and we had to install lights so we can see what we’re looking for but there’s lots of very useful storage. I love the paint colours and the carpet and can’t wait to see the finished result. Thanks as always for sharing.
Thanks so much Sylvia! Your cupboards sound great, we need storage for big items (suitcases, ironing board etc.) as we don't have a cellar so it can be totally simple inside but should have nice doors lol.
It’s a old English tradition to put the tree in the front room window or it was bad luck not too. Well, that’s what my old mum said..lol. But it’s not always practical to do so. Your stair banister looks so much better in white..and lovely a carpet. You have nice taste..thanks Kirsten joerg.
When we would go to Germany at Christmas on holiday,we always had a big bag full of the iced ginger bread soft biscuits,AMAZING & Can I just say that the 🇩🇪 German advent calendars are way better than the 🇬🇧 advent, anyway just to say thank again for letting us into your lifes,XX our family ❤️.
I'm surprised that the new carpet was installed before the painting was completed. I'm too messy. I would not be so brave. I love that you are sharing your DIY projects with us. I am having our home remodeled and I am getting great ideas from your vlogs. Thanks!
Well, it wasn’t possible the other way as Joerg has been working very long hours but it’s actually no different than when you have to redecorate after some years with a floor in. You just need to be careful.
Yes, I agree with you about the paint /carpet order. Regarding the radiator covers, we have unfortunately had to remove most of ours. They look lovely, but stop a lot of heat.
Thank you for the calm and cheerful minutes. It’s always good to watch your videos, especially now that Advent is approaching. Your short film gives me a pleasant and intimate feeling. I wish you perseverance to renovate your house!
It’s always so wonderful when the Christmas tins get filled up with homemade holiday treats! I love your tree in the kitchen! Joerg picked a great color! Definitely the best out of all the samples. Thanks for a perfect end to the workweek and kickoff to the weekend! Much love to you both! ❤️❤️
I too always wanted a Christmas tree in my kitchen and finally I have a countertop one that sits on the island and from the Island it reaches almost to the ceiling. I decorate it with small Christmas cookies, cookie cutters, vintage mini ornaments, candy canes etc. I try to keep to the kitchen/food theme and my grandchildren love it. Of course they try to snitch the gingerbread cookies off of it. Their favorite are the tiny mitten ones which i use icing on the muff part of the mitten with edible glitter. (They don't know I have some in reserve to fill in the spots where they pluck some when Grandma isn't looking :))
The two alcoves in attic officewould be great as triangular bookcases or display cases. You could do plexiglass or real glass hinged doors too, so not dusty areas. You could even put a small electric fish tank light within at top peak of each shelving area. If you wanted it more Victorian style for historical, you could put a small gingerbread cutout trim at peak of shelves. It would make a nice display for old leather books, antique pen holders, tiny brass compass, antique men's pocket watch etc. or eben sepia toned family ancestors photos. Just an idea...
Stomach bread (LOL) looks delicious!! I love the new color green for the attic room, plus all the ideas for cabinets & shelves, and the new carpet is gorgeous!! Joerg deserves a manly office of his own. Great video, I love to see the house moving right along and painting is just in time for lockdown! Thanks for sharing.
I am delighted with the content you share: carefully curated and produced, delicate, beautifully decorated. Wish you both love, health, wealth ans happiness!
You are never boring. I loved it all. Why don't you get your carpenter to build a cover for your heater. Something could be made to continue or tie in the shelving units.
As if I couldn’t love you guys and your charming house even more- the very picture of Gemuetlichkeit, which I especially miss this time of year! And now you show me Marzipan tea! One of my favorite memories is attending the Christmas Market in lovely Luebeck, the home of Marzipan. Hopefully I can find some to order online that will ship affordably to the USA. And your attic room with that gorgeous green will be like a breathe of Spring or Summer every time you climb those stairs. Even though I know most Europeans don’t celebrate Thanksgiving, I am so very thankful for you and the beauty, joy, humor, company, and kindness you have brought to my life this year. Veile liebe Gruesse🤗
The kitchen does seem like the perfect place for your tree, especially as you work there and enjoy the view. The carpets will look lovely together, and the right choice for each staircase and Joerg’s office. I like Joerg’s choice of paint, as I love green, too, and it’s a nice warm green. Take care, Kirsten and Joerg.
Hello, I love the colour choice for the attic room and the stair carpet looks very stylish, a radiator cover would work very well. It's lovely that you both bake together, warms my heart. Thank you for sharing 😊
me: I’m going to cut back on calories and be a little more strict until Christmas. You tube: Take a look at Kirsten and Joerg baking together in their cozy kitchen again!
I can't wait to see the renovation of the loft, it will be very beautiful with that beautiful green color on the wall, the future color of the door matches perfectly ... very elegant and country style! the biscuts, just look like delights and yummy, yummy! happy Xmas!
A friend of mine had stair rods fitted and whilst she liked the way they looked she did find that it left less area to put your feet as you came up and down the stairs, particularly down, which made it a bit dangerous so it might be worth putting something on your steps to mimic the rods and seeing how you feel. An alternative is stair clips.
That's such a big help, thanks so much for letting us know. I think we should stay away from stair rods then, we don't want it to be more dangerous as it's quite steep so not a good idea.
Intriguing recipe sweets with citrus and cocoa. Yum. Those cups are just the right size:) Daring and wonderful attic room colors and style! Tweeds may look fantastic in there. So excited for all you two are sharing. Oh, our tree goes up in kitchen day after Thanksgiving. It makes us happy, too.
Thanks so much!! We love tweed, maybe a lovely desk chair with a tweed fabric? That would be lovely. Relieved to hear you have your tree in the kitchen as well, we love it here but some people don't get it lol.
Thank you for making my grey rainy day a bit sunny. Jorg I like the wormwood color. It will be a lovely space to work and spend time. The new carpeting looks wonderful. Love your videos.
Another great video ! The Magenbrot also has its origins in Switzerland by the way, in the Alps. It used to be made with herbs that were good for your digestion, your stomach... Hence the name Magenbrot...
I enjoy watching your baking and home improvements. We have been tiling our kitchen backsplash over the last week and will be done soon. I do a lot of baking every Christmas and have a collection of cookie tins, some of which came from my grandmother. Good luck with the painting.
Another brilliant video you two. You always give us plenty of interesting content and have such good taste. Can’t wait to see the attic room decorated. You’re an inspiration for good living.
Hello this is again a very lovely video of you both, i could watch you all day long and you are not boring atall! I think that the kitchen is a nice place for a Christmas Tree, the most people spend a lot of time there, its also a lovely sight when eating your meals so why not. You can also see it from the sitting area so i would say its perfect! Thanks for the recipe i will try it, although i have been living in Germany for 40 years now, i have never tried the Magenbrot, so that will be a new one for me. You both have a very good taste the carpets and the paint colours are very elegant and it will look beautiful when its finished. I am so looking forward to your next videos, the diy and how Joergs finished office will look like!
Who said you can't have a christmas tree in the kitchen ? And you can have one even a little one in your snug (living room ) too. I have a friend who has 5 in her house. Lol love you you both and Merry Christmas.😃
We know but you won't believe how many questions we got regarding the Christmas tree in the kitchen as if it was some sort of a big no. We never thought so. And thanks so much, have a Merry Christmas as well.
I grew up in a home that had the living area at the back and bedrooms in the front. We always had a tree in the living room. My Mom also put one in the large bay window that was in my brothers room because she wanted to see it when she pulled in the drive. So, I really like your tree in the kitchen.
Over where that boxed area is...you could have a fold down drafting board and comfortable high bar stool that swivels. a cubbyhole shelf above it would give a place for envelpoes, papers, office supplies etc. It could be folded down when not in use, even the ledge that comes out a bit, would act as a comfortable foot rest when the drafting board was up. It would be great place for making crafts or wrapping gifts too you could find a stack of nice covered boxes or a large woven basket to use for woven throws or paperbacks and magazines to be organized neatly. So instead of the boxed area being wasted space...it would be a secondary tabletop/desk as needed.
🌿🎩This is my most favourite part of your videos when you and your handsome husband cook together it just brings such a warm and loving feeling to my heart ❤️
This has put me in the right mood for decorating and baking for the Holidays. Your recipes always inspire me to try something new, and look delicious! Your style is well thought out and everything looks harmonious. Wishing you both a happy weekend. Cheers!
Well you packed a lot in this little video. First, love the carpet for the stairs and office area. Will look forward to the finished reveal. The bread looked absolutely delicious. I was drooling with every bite the two of you took. Your tree suits your kitchen as it is the heart of your home. Take care of yourselves. 😷
For some reason, I always want to go to Amazon to order tea after I watch your videos. Your video was lovely. They always are. Thank you for sharing your sweet lives with us, ❤️
Hi Kirsten and Joerg I discovered your channel about a month ago, and I love it. You two are very endearing and I love listening to your updates. Your house is so quaint and I love the Victorian flair. I live in the U. S. A but are from Germany. I can really relate to everything you experience in the UK. Keep up the great job and greetings to you both! I speak German so that’s a bonus listening to you both!👏👏👏❤️👏👏👏
I'm interested in following your home improvement journey, and don't find it boring at all. I love your recipes, and as I need a gluten free diet, I find they're always suitable for me. Our family love pfeffernüse, so I'm sure they will enjoy the bread you baked today also, as I hope to give it a try. Thanks, as always 😊
Absolutely simple and elegant is the best. We just aren't sure about the small staircase as it's quite narrow but it will look lovely on the main staircase.
That looks so good, I love the Lebkuchen from Nuremberg , I saw them being made a few years ago when visiting family. Cannot wait to see what else you make. Exciting.Thankyou. 💓
Hi Kirsten & Joerg You are the perfect team. The way that you work together whether it’s cooking, diy,or travel is amazing. I love our Christmas tree in a corner between two windows of my informal dining room. I am overruled, however, by my husband and grandchildren which is fine because I want my grandchildren to really enjoy Christmas. I so look forward to everything that you have in store for us leading up to Christmas. 🧙🏻♀️
Well after a very rainy dark day here in Newcastle Staffs how lovley to see you both in your cosy kitchen i think i would spend most of my time in there too.and the tree looks good in there .mine is in my living room in front of the window not becouse of tradition its becouse i can see it i love looking at it and there up for such a short time .i put it by the opposite wall last year and hated it.love the colours for the attic room perfect choice.and i also like your apron kirsten how unusual and pretty.take care.

Probably licorice
Aww love your story ❤️
I think you mean "katjes katzenkinder" (kitten kids). I Think they are not avaiable in the UK.
Black Cats licorice - we have then here in Australia most seem to be made in the Netherlands so called Dutch licorice
It's salted liquorice.

Such a beautiful couple my favorite both of you guys should have your own show .Absolutely one of the most adorable couples in my opinion.
I. m sensitive to noise..... your videos r very calm ... I feel calm ...... thank you :x
@@KirstenJoerg I'm looking forward to seeing the completed room. I love the paint color you chose.
@@carolewinstead8270 Just noticed my mistakes in the previous comment lol.
Yes, I agree with you about the paint /carpet order. Regarding the radiator covers, we have unfortunately had to remove most of ours. They look lovely, but stop a lot of heat.
@@patriciahackman3637 Either way, it's going to be a lovely room.
I love you both to bits I feel like you are my friends the world needs more lovely people like you bless you
Thank you for the calm and cheerful minutes.
You never bore me Kirsten,I love listening to you(and Joerg)
Kristen and Joerg, the shade of your Christmas tree is lovely with your cabinets. Your kitchen is so cozy and with the two of you in it it is even cozier. Thank you for sharing with us. You've convinced me. My Christmas decorations are coming out early this year. Plus, because I recently tested positive with COVID there will be no Thanksgiving for me to plan around. So I'm going straight to Christmas! "We need a little Christmas , right this very moment. We need a little Christmas now." Sung by Johnny Mathis
Haul out the holly
Put up the tree before my spirit falls again
Fill up the stocking
I may be rushing things, but deck the halls again now
For we need a little Christmas
Right this very minute
Candles in the window
Carols at the spinet
Yes, we need a little Christmas
Right this very minute
Hasn't snowed a single flurry, but Santa dear we're in a hurry
Climb down the chimney
Turn on the brightest string of lights I've ever seen
Slice up the fruit cake
It's time we've hung some tinsel on the evergreen bough
For I've grown a little leaner
Grown a little colder
Grown a little sadder
Grown a little older
And I need a little angel
Sitting on my shoulder
Need a little Christmas now
For we need a little music
Need a little laughter
Need a little singing, ringing through the rafter
And we need a little snappy
Happy ever after
Need a little Christmas now

Kirsten.. I think they need to "can" your laughter!! It's SO much FUN!! 😄
me: I’m going to cut back on calories and be a little more strict until Christmas.
You tube: Take a look at Kirsten and Joerg baking together in their cozy kitchen again!
Such a cute couple together! Thank you for sharing your German traditions and your "Tannenbaum" in your kitchen!
So nice the recipe you have done.. I could almost smell the spices.. Your tree looks lovely in the kitchen... 🎄😍🤗🎅🎄⛄🤶
I can't wait to see the renovation of the loft, it will be very beautiful with that beautiful green color on the wall, the future color of the door matches perfectly
... very elegant and country
style! the biscuts, just look like delights
and yummy, yummy! happy Xmas!
Thanks so much!
I love the apron! It’s so cute 💓
This year is going to be the year I bake for Christmas!
I feel the same way. Something about slowing down, the smell of baked goods, it just feels right this year. This recipe was the decision maker.
Thank you for making my grey rainy day a bit sunny. Jorg I like the wormwood color. It will be a lovely space to work and spend time. The new carpeting looks wonderful. Love your videos.
Thanks so much Janice! We are so excited to get started with the room.
I lived in Bad Tölz Bavaria for 5 years and my brother lives in Cheimsee...Miss Bavaria so much. It has been 6 years since I was there last.
Love the mix on the carpets .. stairway looks brighter
Thank you!
Agreed, the lighter color helps brighten the way upstairs.
I'm happy for you cursing and for your updates in your home and your baking was quite lovely.
You have wonderful taste; really enjoy your videos. x
Kirsten & Joerg,
You are such a sweet blessing! 🍦
Thank you.
Thanks so much!
🌿🎩This is my most favourite part of your videos
when you and your handsome husband cook together
it just brings such a warm and loving feeling to my heart ❤️
This has put me in the right mood for decorating and baking for the Holidays. Your recipes always inspire me to try something new, and look delicious! Your style is well thought out and everything looks harmonious. Wishing you both a happy weekend. Cheers!
Well you packed a lot in this little video. First, love the carpet for the stairs and office area. Will look forward to the finished reveal. The bread looked absolutely delicious. I was drooling with every bite the two of you took. Your tree suits your kitchen as it is the heart of your home. Take care of yourselves. 😷
Good Evening from the Highlands. I'm just catching up with your latest clips.
After this one in the kitchen I'm cosy and smiling 😃
I want to come live with you!! ♥️😊....the hallway and stairs look wonderful. Very happy, open feeling, to the landing and stairs. ♥️
Definately not boring.I thorough enthusiastic video.

Hi Kirsten and Joerg
I discovered your channel about a month ago, and I love it. You two are very endearing and I love listening to your updates. Your house is so quaint and I love the Victorian flair. I live in the U. S. A but are from Germany. I can really relate to everything you experience in the UK. Keep up the great job and greetings to you both! I speak German so that’s a bonus listening to you both!👏👏👏❤️👏👏👏
Those look delicious. The tins are beautiful, the candles are sweet, and everything looks very Christmasy. I do so love having tea with you both.
I'm a bit old-fashioned so yes to stair rods from me . Nothing fancy , just simple but elegant .
Thanks so much Kathleen! That sounds lovely, you should put the tree where you can enjoy it the most.
