I bought my Snow Joe in January, 2022 and there hasn't been any snow until last week to try it out. That's when I discovered the wacko safety lockout button. I watched your vid with interest but I still have over a year warranty on my machine and don't want to void that, so I measured the button "hole", 1 inch dia x 1/10 " deep and used a shim washer with a spring clamp that holds it in place and keeps the button pressed in. Now the grip closes the circuit and the safety is bypassed without alteration to the machine. Will test it out on the next snow. I was surprised at how easy it was to work around the switch. I'll report back here as to how well my fix works when blowing snow.
OK, April 2023, snow season about over and used the Snow Joe 3 times. Still using the washer/clamp lockout bypass. For the most part it works fine, only drawback is when it gets wet the clamp can slip enough to pop the washer off the machine. Keep a small supply of spare washers on hand just in case. Also I use 50' 12 gauge cords to power my beast which are stiff in winter. My wife wrangles the cords while I push the blower. It takes a 50 footer to do the driveway and an additional 50 footer to do the sidewalk.
Feeling a lot more confident after watching this. Mine is the hybrid version and the switch is stuck on so I have to remove the battery to turn it off or else it’s on constantly. I think there’s another switch when you use 120 V power instead of the battery, that one seems to work fine oddly 😆
I just removed the spring and glued the two parts of the lever together using CA glue. I used flexible CA to make it hold up to flexing of the lever but I doubt if that is essential. Works great and looks unmodified.
Thanks for the tip AquaDawg... just bought me this blower instantly knew this switch was going to get modified and you are the only guy that put a tip on YT so thanks my man I am now a subscriber.
I got a free Snow Joe from my neighbor who was throwing it away because it was broke, the belt was broken and the on/off bar was stuck on, I did this trick to the switch and now runs and shuts off like a charm, Just waiting on belt and I'm good to go.
Hey bud one question? Couldn’t I just push the blue button in then run a 1/2” screw through the middle of the blue button without taking everything apart?

You could try it first and see if it works. Not sure if the spring would be in the way or not. Thanks for the comments too!
Very nice Im doing this.
Snow Joes suck, terrible company to deal with, if you have motor problem no parts available, can’t replace the brushes or buy a new motor.
went to use my 48volt SJ blower for the 4rd time this year and now won't start?!!!
Sorry, I don't own a battery operated unit, and can't help you.
@@AquaDawg understood but the over ride process should be the same
