- In this episode of the hidden gems series I play Elgin Golf Club which is the best parkland course I ever played in Scotland so far. The Moray speyside area has numerous golf courses & famous whisky distilleries that are well worth a visit. Elgin has the distinction of having Jack Nicklaus as an honour member. The course was in incredible condition with the greens especially healthy & true. The fairways are beautifully defined & tree lined with mountain views. Elgin reminded me of Wentworth which is high praise indeed & I can’t wait to return as I described Elgin as a “hidden jewel” in the video & is easily in my Top 100 courses.

Founded in 1906, Elgin Golf Club is widely regarded as one of the finest inland courses in the North of Scotland. Measuring 6,458 yards with par of 71 and a Course Rating of 71.4 and a Slope Rating of 124 off the White Medal Tees, the challenging but fair course is a true test of low and high handicap players alike.
Situated in the heart of Moray and Speyside, the golf course is kept in immaculate condition by the green-staff and boasts stunning views over the town of Elgin and the Moray coast to the north and the hills stretching to the distant Cairngorm Mountains to the south.
The Hardhillock Bar and Bistro situated in the clubhouse provides full food and beverage facilities and you will receive a warm welcome from our friendly staff. PGA “AA” professional Michael McAllan provides expert tuition and club fitting and also runs a well-stocked shop.
Visitors and groups are always welcome at Elgin Golf Club.

Elgin was a good course when i played there now it looks an amazing course to play on and im glad they've upped the course to a 71. Cant wait to go there again. Great video again boys well done.

It is hard to describe how much fun watching you play and interact with your mates is. You express your joy with the game so well. Your cast of mates are all wonderful especially Mr. Barlow. And that comes from an American with complete Scottish and Irish ancestry. I got to visit Scotland for the Ryder Cup a few years back and they were some of the must wonderful people I ever met. The food and the beer were amazing also. Thanks so much for your work showing off the game. Maybe some day I can get back across the pond. PS: Maybe your can publish a dictionary of your terms and idioms about golf for those of us with a plainer vocabulary.

Elgin - nice looking parkland course. As with you, I love the links courses by the sea, but when you think about it, there's quite a bit more area inland than at the coast. So, much more chance to find a gem inland!!

“Variety is the spice of life” 👍 I’ve played some pretty crappy courses but they’ve all been fun and relaxing to play just golf itself is fun. Isn’t nature great now a little single malt would make this video magic. Chequers is $150 a bottle wow it must pour itself into the glass for that price!

What a lovely course, the drone introduction was professional standard, golf true to life you were playing like a pro then that bad lie got in your head, great putt down the hill nearly saved your par mini round.
