man if there's a person im willing to give out all my time to it's definitely librarian ever since i found his UA-cam channel 4 years ago i never felt as close to a person before. what im trying to say every time i watch these videos i always feel like im there with him. exploring maps in gmod. hiding from monsters in horror games and all that. i love him and his content. :3
Something I like about you is how willing to make your own opnion you are. Loys of other channels would've not played this game as its "old" (by LP terms) and considered "bad" (for some reason) but you play it anyway. Thanks book man. :>
This is easily the best game in the Amnesia series, not only by its gameplay but by its story too. After this The Bunker was a massive disappointment but at least we'll always have Soma.
In truth, I think it boils down to the players just not liking the talkative protagonist in these games. Early Penumbra and Amnesia were essentially 'panicked rummaging' simulators in which you're left alone with your own thoughts and building unease for extended periods of time.
gosh my life has gone mostly uphill since i started playing the librarian when i sleep and as background noise thank you librarian for fixing me!!!!!!!!
Everybody makes fun of the overuse of JPEG jump scares but I mean I don't know how else you would visualize the psychic damage caused by an infallible cosmic horror besides creepy images beamed directly into your brain
Very excited for this! It's definitely the most overlooked game from Frictional, but it's still a solid entry. And has the most exposition out of any of the Amnesia titles. (It can be argued whether that's a good or bad thing) personally I enjoyed it alot.
Welp, time to take my die and come back stronger pills because I will have a heart attack. My startle response is legendary, and I still struggle to make progress in Bunker. But, work it.
Nothing to be ashamed of, Bunker is absolutely horrifying. It's one of those games were you just never want to leave your hiding spot. I was stuck in the same place for about an hour at some point out of fear.
Gothic horror and cosmic horror have always kinda felt like neighbours to me, as they pertain to very similar topics, just handled on a different scale - particularly with fear of the unknown. While my favourite entry in the Amnesia franchise will always be The Dark Descent, I still like Rebirth for what it brings to cosmic horror as TDD does to gothic horror.
@@TheSolarWolf The Bunker is a close second for me, though it's definitely the scariest entry in the franchise. Gothic horror and cosmic horror are a bit more blurry in that game, but the elements are still present in how 'the beast' is presented, along with the nature of the roman tunnels later on.
Hey! Librarian, im not sure if you're up to doing more minecraft stuff, but i found a horror mod that seems right up your alley, its called "the root of fear" ive watched all of your minecraft episodes and just thought I'd mkae a recommendation, its ,imo, one of the best horror mods to date
I can say I was harsh on it not because the game was good or bad, but because I play on Linux, and when the game came out, it had a horribly broken Linux port, which irked me as laziness and false advertising. I still stand by that as a game should not come out broken on a platform it promises to support, but the game its self isn't bad. It's no dark descent, but I would rank it above a machine for pigs.
I love this game. It's really different, yes, but it's a gem. Everything from the main character to the environments is amazing. I do have a couple of complaints but I'll save them because I don't want to spoil the story. Despite those, I think it's great.
I remember overhyping myself on this game and being massively dissapointed at it's departures from A:TDD's gameplay. Mostly with how Rebirth having a talking protagonist was defeating the whole point of having amnesia, by making her feel like she hadn't changed at all, there being no real consequences to turning into a ghoul, bad pacing, repetitive & unnecessary dialogue, and meaningless callbacks to A:TDD.
Nothing like throwing sci-fi into Amnesia, set to the sound of someone violently eating macaroni in your ear. Yeah, I can see why this was controversial.
Imo lowest game by Frictional, both on environments and story, they definetly made just basic "pregnant woman" archetype character with no ehmm character, and levels apart from one location is just dull and basic...
All due respect, but, “basic ‘pregnant woman’ archetype”? What other horror video games (or video games in general) feature a pregnant protagonist? I think they did a fairly good job using the transition loading screens to flesh out her character and motivations, although there could be more characterization, to be sure. I don’t think this is in the top 2, but I like it better than Machine for Pigs.
@Laura_5757 For me AAMFP was great both on story and overall atmosphere and scares, buut pointing again at Rebirth's flat character, is that we really don't know any her backstory, all we get from her dialogue is thousand variations of "is my baby okay?", not getting anything about her backstory, realtions with Salim, her insight of the world (what was waay more better done for Mandus, by his notes), and we get only brief mention about her dad and Salim's mother which was excuse to give her baby a name...
This game is so god damn awful. I hate it with a passion. It does not deserve the Amnesia game. If you ask me, the game is called Amnesia due to how forgettable it is.

I concur
The epitome of a parasocial relationship, but I wholeheartedly feel the same about Librarian’s content

I’m looking forward to hearing his opinion on this one. I wasn’t a fan of this entry but nonetheless happy to see him playing it.

Look at the beginning. Window to the end of the plane had the Eiffel Tower drawn in the dust. Tasi's doing?
Less thought of it as a mixed bag, more as a very good entry, just with a couple flaws i didnt like. Its a solid 8/10!
Thanks for giving him the nudge to play it!
Even though I’m not a fan of this entry in the series, I’m happy to watch the librarian play through it.
Loving this so far! FYI: I believe that “djinni” is pronounced “genie,” like a genie in a lamp
I think it’s pronounced “Jinn”.
im sorry but you cant tell me that you couldnt fight the enemies in penumbra, smashing dogs with a big pickaxe is like half the fun of that game
Tip: moving too fast causes matches to burn out faster. Move slowly while there lit.
Obenseuer is getting a new huge update in like 1 to 2 months
okay a LOT of my friends didnt like this game and I understand their reasons why but MAN
i actually loved this amnesia

Something long buried.... that's what she said?
So, just screw the 'Pastas , huh?
You should play Christmas Massacre because you are the villian in that game and i know that you usually like those type of games.

You could do hallucinations instead, much like the Dark Descent did to an extent, building on that system rather than spamming jpegs.
