    I visited Morelia at the end of July - driving my car from Los Angeles, with 3 dogs- I came across Morelia by chance since they had a pet-friendly hotel) I was totally blown away especially at night what a gorgeous, vibrant and exciting town Morelia is! I had never even heard of Morelia prior ot my visit!

      I love being mexican more than anything else but being from Michoacán feels even greater, it doesn't make us the best of the country but we're a unique state, with own culture, food, folklore, languages, traditions, etc. I'm glad you liked our state. I hope you come back someday.

    Goyo got aporreadillo or some people call it machaca. It's made with carne seca(dehydrated beef, almost like beef jerky) and its not a stew. It's fry in a pan and they add eggs and salsa. Its great for an almuerzo with hand made tortillas.

    • @kinetickennons
      @kinetickennons  6 років тому +1

      That kind of describes what I had...but the addition of the caldo/soup definitely gave it a stew like taste and flavor. I have had Machaca before and it wasn't quite like aporreado. Not the aporreado from there at least.

    Gradually, you guys are getting closer to understanding the heart and soul of México: it does reside in the food in part, but it is mostly in the people, their conversations, music (you really have to listen to and appreciate what I call the Mexican songbook, the classic that have come to define our cultures), popular religion (Catholicism which ha a mystical component that is completely unknown and unappreciated by the Church in the US), the arts, the rich history, and, yes, the hardships that people face on a daily basis yet manage to transcend.

    Apporeado is one of my favorite foods. It's dried shredded beef fried with eggs and red salsa. It's amazing! Good choice for a not so typical tourist dish 👍 I lived in Morelia for two years and it was amazing.

      Also apporreado is a typical dish of the Tierra caliente and its NOT the same as machaca. It's NOT.

    I love pipian 😍😍😍 I wish Mexican restaurants in the U.S. had pipian in their menu ... so I wouldn’t have to go to my mother’s and annoy her to make me some homemade pipian all the time 😂

    Yes, the city and the state is very underrated, and maybe it is because the news might have affected the perspective of the state. Personally you are the first channel of travels that i`ve seen that visit Morelia haha. Great video and have fun. Greetings from Morelia, Michoacan. :)

    You definitely have to go to "El Mercado del Dulce y Artesanias" sweet market and try the local candies, they are delicious, you will completely love it!
