Great video, I found it really interesting how you said the build quality on the 4RR is maybe even better than the 6R. I wondered that when I saw the price difference between the two.
Thanks! Great work. I appreciate you sharing your thoughts. I’m anxious to see what these bikes do after they get tuned. Congratulations on getting a hold of one of these!
Nice initial review - looking forward to more as soon as you can :) Am on my dealer’s waiting list here in the UK though expected date after the summer. Enjoys yours meanwhile.
Thanks for the honest review mate. Waiting impatiently for mine to be delivered here in Australia. We are getting the 80hp unrestricted version off the bat. Cheers for covering the ergonomics of the bike. Just wondering how you find the fit for your height?
I personally like the ergos being 6 foot. It's definitely not as big as a zx6 but the upright seating position makes it pretty comfortable. I'd say it'd start to get cramped if you're any taller.
Im seriously considering this 4RR, by the way, what is your height and weight, im 5'10 and around 78kg. Does your feet touch the ground, also about the oil change, do you need to remove the fairings to access the drain bolt, and the oil filter as well. And the coolant too. Thanks!
I'm 6' 84kg. I can easily flat foot both sides. You have to remove a bit of fairings to get to the oil filter. I can't ever seem to get it loose with all the fairings still in place. I haven't changed the coolant yet personally
I liked your perspective and review about the bike. Good job. It’s super cool Kawasaki sent the US and most everywhere else this bike. Finally, I’ve been a huge fan of all the Japanese spec smaller bikes like this that they’ve always kept for themselves in Japan for decades. Idk if there’s really a bad one in the category. Seems like most people in the US don’t know the extensive list. A lot of people mention the 400 Honda RC, but there are YZFR 250-CBR250 GSXR250 ZX250 R and several more. Usually there is a related 400cc version for most models. I found them a little easier to stay under arrest me immediately speeds but just excellent handling and more engaging then a typical 600 or 750-1000. If you don’t NEED to go 150-180+ I feel like I’d choose to ride it today over my bigger bikes if I had one more often then not. There are severally models, certain versions and yrs that are much better equipped then this one appears to be but I’m sure Kawasaki already has drawings for that issue. I really hope the other 3/4 big 4 will finally follow Kawasaki’s lead on this and send us all those models they’ve been withholding from us over here!! I do wish they would have tried harder on the suspension, and not in love with the hybrid aluminum/trellis frame. But that said I still do hope to get my own sooner than later. Vs the 22’ or 23’ GSXR 750. That’s a difficult decision I’m having to Wk out
It's an inline 4, you need to rev the piss out of it, it won't get anywhere fast unless you do. It seems odd at first getting used to being so high in the rev range, but you'll get there.
I just bought this bike like a few weeks ago i really like it i have the 40 year edition with a performance pack. Here in Europe its not restricted. So far i like the bike. I feel like the bike is to smal for me but i am a tall dude 😂 but the quality feel is top!
Great job bro! I got mine in may. Have you experienced any issues going from first to second and it catches neutral some how? Sometimes the shift feels to rough on mine and usually when it slips into nuetral. Ive tried shifting at different rpms, delicately, a little more intentional and its slipped a few times. Any thoughts?
I've had the same issue on mine occasionally. Seemed to get better with more experience on this bike as well as breaking it in more. I've found that unless I'm full throttle and at high RPM I shouldn't use the quickshifter to get out of first. Seems better to use clutch from 1-2 then quickshift the rest
im experiencing it too, from 1st gear to nuetral i cant get thru with it so hard to go to nuetral. what im doing is that i will move forward lightly so that i can go to nuetral

From what I've seen with people getting ECU flashes it just lets the bike get to a higher top speed when you wind it out all the way to the end rather than falling off early. The torque added isn't much. I don't think it's worth paying for that unless you will be racing with the bike where you'll be setting at high rpms a lot. Otherwise there is no real gains, but bragging rights.
More recent ecu tuning has resulted in SIGNIFICANT gains throughout the rev range when combined with slip on and air filter. A 6hp gain doesn’t sound like a lot but if it’s a 15% increase at that rpm, it’s significant. That’s like adding 20hp to modern liter-bike as far as percentage increase.
@@dcxplant Need a parts fiche to be sure but they will be. Why bother developing and emissions testing another cam profile when you can just derate the engine by changing the secondary throttle valve map?

Haven't done a drag between them yet. I think stock the CLX will be a little bit faster until 60 or 80 but the ZX4 definitely pulls after that. After I get it flashed I think the ZX4 will be faster than the CLX all around. Probably going to do a review on the CLX soon... except the taillight stopped working on it after 400 miles
@Ryan's Rides I have about 400 miles on my 700 clx sport without any problems so far. Hopefully it stays that way 😆. Looking to upgrade to either a ninja 650, zx4 or zx6.
-I have a KTMRC 390. Have you ever sat on one and how does the ergonomics compare with the 4RR bike if so? Also, how is the power compared to the regular ninja 400 in your opinion is it significantly more or just a slight bump up on the actual street (spec sheets don’t tell enough)
@@Nixonbutcher it’s actually good imo, very simple and solid little 1 cyl thumper and haven’t had any issues with the standard abs. -If you weigh over 220lb it’s going to be sluggish 1st through 3rd gear imo. I recommend the bike for someone 5’10+ due to seat height and 200lbs or less
Yes 150lbs it will pull you nicely! If you are 5’6- 5’7 you will pretty much be on the balls of your feet which still allows for stability. I’m 5’11 and flat footed it. I would also recommend trying out the Ninja 400 which I also ride whenever I want and I like the power train on it a little more. It would also allow you to flatfoot it at 5’5or taller
Zx400 riding position is between ninja 400 and rc390, not as tuck as rc390 but also not as relaxed as ninja 400, nicely in between where you can use it daily and not having but pain and at the same time you can tuck in and push it if you want to
Just about to watch but my opinion on these is I'd rather spend the money on a 636 and pay the same you'd pay to unlock, upgrade the 4rr on upgrading the 636. This thing is just a fan boys bike imo but whatever floats your boat.
The 636 is definitely a better value but the 4rr is better in a couple ways I'd say. If you're looking for horsepower the zx6 is the way to go for sure

Tokico makes the stock front brake calipers by the way. They're generally OK but Nissin calipers tend to be a little better.
Akra made a full exhaust for the zx25r that mates perfectly. About 1400 bucks from a cat in Florida.
