When you hear some of the criticisms of the last episode, you can really see how much the Anime audience actually identifies more with Klaw than with Mob.
Mob psycho 100 is truly one of the greatest stories of all time. It is a wonderful masterpiece. I remember seeing somewhere that One's desire when writing this story was that "I wanted to make something kind." And I think he did just that.
im shocked to hear some people didnt like the last fight scene of season 2. its animated well and it has some pretty epic moments. if people are really upset that mob didnt enjoy himself when he cut loose that sounds like they just have different tastes in anime and this anime maybe wasnt for them.
I love Mark’s videos because they are not just reviews, but subcultural documentaries, filled with love, maturity and emotion. Everytime he uploads I LEARN something, and that is priceless. Mark’s channel is truly an invaluable source and I am standing here until the end.
Top 10 things you hate about me! GO! (EDIT: Just a heads up, there's a small error at 17:34 - the effects sequence is Ken Yamamoto, Mori's scene is 17:39 with the milk)
Kenji Kawai has been around as a composer for so long, Ghost in the Shell (1995), Ranma 1/2 and even some live action films like the Ip Man series. Absolute legend to have on Mob Psycho
Mark you have really elevated to a new level with the music analysis. It has brought such a new appreciation to this show for me and I can't thank you enough!
Mark I'm absolutely thankful to you for your breakdown and usage of "Gray" throughout this video because gray was arguably the best OST used throughout the anime and I was absolutely gutted how barely anyone talked about it's impact on scenes especially the reigen ii yatsu da scene. Thank you!!!!
I remember being told by somebody that Reigen is the living embodiment of Imposter Syndrome, and I feel like the separation arc really helped me see that. The whole reason he can be so damn slick is because Reigen is actually an insanely talented man who's held back by a built-in complex that keeps him from seeing himself as a properly accomplished man. The "I wanna be somebody" essay so clearly paints a picture of a kid who most definitely had a lot of talents, that just didn't line up with what society at large was expecting of him, *very* much like what we're seeing with Mob at the start of the series. The only reason he's a con man is because he genuinely believes he is incapable of having success through legitimate means. He only took the "fake it till you make it" road in life because he thought he had no other choice, due to not having the built-in tools that were expected of him at an early stage of his development. It's why their new relationship is season 3 is so heartwarming. Reigen lets Mob be more independent because he genuinely wants him to grow to be a better man than him, and largely succeeds with that by being willing to let him go when he's clearly ready to enter the next phase of his life. And it's nice seeing that in the Reigen spinoff Mob still hangs out with him in his free time because they built a bond that goes past their work.
Just quickly though: although this fits a certain facade of the character, also remember that a large part of why Reigen quit his old job was simply that he got bored. That's it. So while he is afraid of showing the more genuine part of himself, he is also confident enough in his abilities to believe he could start from scratch and achieve anything on his own. And about mob: In the spinoff manga he actually hasn't quit the job at the office. He was just busy for tests and took time off for a while.
@@landmerry_6742 Ohhh okay. For some reason I always assumed Mob stopped working there in the finale to pursue his own shit, and was just hanging out there in his off time for sentimental reasons.
@@NerdMiGerd yeah, that was about what everyone thought, what with reigen practically saying goodbye in the confession scene and mob not appearing all that much in the spinoff manga. But then fanbook came out and was like LOL, GOT YOU
I mean along with the CD drama that goes with that OVA that includes more lore and context of things out of screen that happenned within the OVA, it is really interesting, having things like Serizawa talking with his mother about his new job and boss, reigen writing his testament on the train and stuff like that it does give you more info about the characters which I enjoyed it
I remember laughing so much my chest hurt during the scene Reigen punch’s the shit out of the teleporting psychic , even had to pause the episode so I could relax a little before resuming
Season 2 of Mob Psycho 100 is a masterpiece. There is so much variety in animation from the Street Fighter homage to the darkness of the Mogami episodes. But the true star is the heart. Between Mob repairing Emi's story and Reigen's heart warming moment with Mob in the middle of the season, the characters feel so human.
Thanks so much for using my cover in this! Especially with my favorite scene (the “I’ve always known” scene); so happy you even mentioned the song specifically! ❤
Oh man... Thank you Mark for visiting Mob Psycho 100. It's my favorite anime of all time. I gained even more appreciation for this series because of your insights! You're going to have a blast watching season 3.
In only 3 seasons this show made me more excited, sad, and invested then any other show in recent memory. Easily one of the Top 5 best anime of all time in my book!
You touched on it well, one of the things Mob does so well this season is bring you a happy tear. I think it's one thing to make you cry over something sad, and I don't mean to demean those moments, but to frequently bring me to tears of happiness and comfort and warmth is really something special and this season accomplished that at least twice in episodes 1 and 7.
S2 of Mob is such an experience that is almost unmatched and does everything from S1 even better from the music, villians, animation and character's are so top tier with Shiozaki vs everyone and Mob vs Kenji some of the best fights in anime
I've been trying to get my best friend to watch this series for years now and I appreciate having your insight and attention to detail as ammunition for my battle... also the way you guys edited this video allowed to relive some of my favorite moments I'd forgotten!
AT 9:04, SEASON 3 WATCHERS, YOU KNOWWWW THAT CHOICE OF MUSIC WAS INTENTIONAL... OH MY GOD. EDITOR. YOU KNOW SO WELL. THAT SONG IS SO ELUDING AND HONESTLY IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN THE ENDING OF MP100 YOU WOULDN'T EVEN BE ABLE TO TELL WHAT IT'S REFERENCING/FORESHADOWING OHHHH MY GOD I LOVE THIS!
Watching the episode-when it came out-where Mob walks in and sees the burning corpses of what the audience would also assume was Mob’s family…I don’t think I’ve ever been impacted so immensely and been so invested into a show as I was during the week leading up to the episode that came after. The way that scene was handled, and the way it just comes out of nowhere…I just can’t describe how invested I was, but I recall thinking about the gravity of the implications of that cliffhanger every day for that week lol. Honestly I was a bit disappointed that it ended up being a fake out in the end, but I still have to appreciate how incredible that scene was. I fucking love this series so much.
My favourite element of the final battle is how Mob bounces between the different 100% states he's been in over the course of the series as he tries different approaches to reach or defeat Toichiro. Really show how he's grown to master these different aspects of himself and his complexity as a character and just how much he's trying here.
by the way, i love the new format the Mob reviews have of episode by episode. i hope you continue this format where you can in the future. while i love the reviews of Naruto, Hunter x Hunter, Jojo, ect, the episode by episode thoughts give a human element. of course, i get it for longer shows, it's a lot harder to do it with. episode by episode of Naruto would be hell, since nothing happens most episodes, lol. but for shows like this (or Hunter x Hunter), it's a great format.
The "Self Defense Rush" will forever be my favorite moment in the show for as long as I live. It's just so out of nowhere that you can't help but love it 😂
Thanks to you I realise how good an anime can be and I enjoy it even more. I watched Mob Psycho 100 a few months ago and I just liked it like many other series, but your retrospective makes it even better and I just understand the work behind it, the care that the story has and I thank you for that.
I shouted in joy at the end of Mob Psycho 2. The callback or foreshadow from the intro of the first season with the explosion turning to broccoli. I was so sure Mark would mention it.
Someone already said this, but yeah, Emi didn’t “dump” Mob. They were never dating in the first place because he rejected her, but his kind nature meant he’d still spend time with her, like walking home with her and then going back to school to train with the Body Improvement Club.
Mob Psycho 100, s2 ep5, probably one of my favorite episodes of anime, ever. Absolute master class in animation, storytelling, art direction, and one of the most stand-out action scenes I’ve ever seen. There’s even hints of some deranged, yet on-point comedy, it literally has everything.
I gotta say Mark, you really are taking your videos to a new level with the music analysis and the in depth talk about the team behind the anime, i really love your other long form videos but you have truly made some big improvements.
I'm excited to hear your thoughts on season 3. It's one of the only anime/manga endings I've encountered that felt like an actual satisfying and conclusive ending.
God, the more you talk about it, the deeper in love I get with this story. Mob has been one of my favorite anime’s since watching it, and it quite frankly gets even better in parts of season 3. Can’t wait for next week.

I've just finished season 2 myself alongside you and it's been a ride so far. Starting season 3 next week when I can see my friend who I've been watching it with. This show's a masterpiece.
I need part 3 already, been checking on your page daily, You are going to love it. You even mentioned something here about that Reigen moment and boy are you in for a good time.
The three seasons to me are perfect I’ve resonated so much with mob and all of it’s characters and it’s gotten me through some of the toughest points in my life, it’s an anime I’ll always cherish
Mob psycho is the only anime to make me feel like I didn’t need to watch more. It made me feel satisfied. Like I didn’t need to watch more even tho it was so good.
I love how some media and specifically anime tie a track to a specific moment which makes you almost relieve those feelings every time you listen to the track. Some best examples I can list - Made in Abyss (Both S1's Hanezeve Carahdina and S2's Old Stories) Bleach (Number one and Stand up be strong) Mob Psycho (Mob's theme & Grey) Anohana's secret base You're Lie in April with Orange
YES! I had just finished binging through the series for the 1st time ever right as you put up your season 1 review. I was waiting for the season 2 review, because oh my God, this was my favorite season of the series. LOVED IT
OMG this show! Your analysis is sooooo spot on that I started crying just remembering how I felt about the two climaxes of season 2. I’m in absolute shambles again 😭😭
Still love that Toichiro and Sho are Giovanni and Silver. Edit: I also like how Mob and Toichiro's auras differ. Mob has little holographic circles the kind that shine from every angle. Whereas Toichiro has the lines of circuitry like the cold calculating nature of a machine. Also once you've seen/read the entire series go rewatch the opening for season 1. There isn't a single but of wasted space. Every single thing they show are cool references to the entire story. It is so amazing.
I don't say this often, but your English is simply extraordinary. You show a great range of both simplistic as well as complex expressions, utilised both flawlessly and purposefully, setting just the right theme.
During my high school year I took cross country, and the feeling of watching how you go from almost last place to making it towards your goals feels amazing, the scene where mob is blatantly out of breath and stamina but continues running to try and finish just hit me hard. Although we all knew mob wouldn’t have been able to make it to the top 10 in under a few days of training seeing him improve with his own will and determination just really stuck with me. I listen to the mob psycho OST during my runs and Gym workouts, reminding myself that if mob could do this, I’m pretty sure we all can.
Yeah, I was like "why is there a 3rd season of this show?" too.. it kind of seemed like they already ended it perfectly. Mob already battled and then turned the ultimate bad guy to his way of thinking. What more could there be? But there is one more "big bad" left. And I felt silly that I didn't predict this, but season 3 is fucking gorgeous.
Season 2 is like the grand finale of the show, but it feels like some pieces of the puzzle are still misssing. This is when season 3 comes in with the most satisfying ending to a piece of media in recent memory. Cant wait for part 3 of this review
He's going to LOVE season 3 by the sounds of things. Also, because I watched s2 and 3 so far apart, I didn't at all remember all the s3 foreshadowing here, but it looks like Mark picked up on all of it, so... ye, can't wait to see that react vid.
I watched the review on season 1 and I finally decided to watch the show. I loved it so much that I binged season 1&2 before you came out with this review. Man. This show is damn amazing and I regretted not watching it when it first came out lol. Great review and can't wait for the next eps.
Reigen's combination of pure lies & actual skill is wild. Like somehow he knows exactly how to hold, aim & fire a gun in the right way, suggesting firearms training in a country were guns are super rare and actual training in civilians is even more so.
As someone who’s their mom’s sole caregiver with a job I don’t believe I deserve, I’ve always felt like a fraud who’s going to be found out at any moment and everything is just going to come crumbling down around me. Episode 7 is everything to me and makes me feel like even if I’m found out, things might still turn out okay.
This is literally why this is one of my favorite Animes/Mangas ever... This Anime made me feel human, it made me have hope man... I wish I could say thank you to One...
Your way of describing the last episode almost brought me to tears, almost as if I was watching it again! Ive planned to watch season 1 and 2 again because of season 3 but now more than ever I want to watch it again ❤️
as mark didnt mention it, when mob opens up, tsubomi is seeing it, this makes an impression on her, as she puts it " smooth". you could say, that this is a reward"" for his kindness
Mob Psycho was one of those animes that I knew I would find entertaining but I didn't think it would be my favorite and damn was I so wrong. It became one of my favs if not my favorite anime. Many people state that Naruto is what inspired them to try and become great and to some extent I agree I mean Naruto was part of many childhoods but I think Mob Psycho did it for me because it shows that no matter what age no matter how ordinary you can always try to become a better version of yourself.

It's honestly my favorite track of the series.
The Reigen-Mob separation arc cemented Mob Psycho 100 as my favorite anime tbh. That was too real and that was all so human and still so beautiful
my favorite scene in the entire series is when the guy is trying to crush mob but the gym bro guards him while being crushed into the ground. it never fails to give me chills and the speech gym bro gives is genuinely inspiring.
When you hear some of the criticisms of the last episode, you can really see how much the Anime audience actually identifies more with Klaw than with Mob.
XD the irony
There just aren't enough Reigens in real life
The Mogami arc(specifically the fake world) still gives me chills but Mob remembering the ppl who supported him was powerful
Mob psycho 100 is truly one of the greatest stories of all time. It is a wonderful masterpiece. I remember seeing somewhere that One's desire when writing this story was that "I wanted to make something kind."
And I think he did just that.
im shocked to hear some people didnt like the last fight scene of season 2. its animated well and it has some pretty epic moments. if people are really upset that mob didnt enjoy himself when he cut loose that sounds like they just have different tastes in anime and this anime maybe wasnt for them.
“The climax and culmination of everything these two have been through”… season 3 finna destroy this man
I love Mark’s videos because they are not just reviews, but subcultural documentaries, filled with love, maturity and emotion.
Part 3 video isn't out yet, you monster.
You 🗿
Not reviewing this sooner
You are a UA-cam
Not enough content!
(Jk jk, don’t overwork yourself)
Kenji Kawai has been around as a composer for so long, Ghost in the Shell (1995), Ranma 1/2 and even some live action films like the Ip Man series. Absolute legend to have on Mob Psycho
Mark you have really elevated to a new level with the music analysis. It has brought such a new appreciation to this show for me and I can't thank you enough!
absolutely undeniable facts
Someone has to fill the gap that sideways left.
But then fanbook came out and was like LOL, GOT YOU
when Sho showed up at mobs house my blood went COLD.
I wonder if Mark will watch the OVA from season 2. It doesn’t really effect the story but it has lots of funny moments
I also wonder if he’ll give the Reigen side story that takes place after the story ends a read
Yeah I hope so too, I loved it so much. It also came out on my 17th birthday which was absolute peak
@@Im_Not_Loss Thank you for informing me that this exists, I shall go read it now
@@christophersteiner6596 do it. ITS GREAT. It had some genuinely terrifying moments.
I just saw this part and it had me wheezing for a good 5 minutes. It just came out of no where
Can't wait for you to watch season 3. This story is so, so, good.
Bro I can already tell that you are going to love season 3 it such a great emotional written masterpiece, made me cry on multiple occasions
In only 3 seasons this show made me more excited, sad, and invested then any other show in recent memory. Easily one of the Top 5 best anime of all time in my book!
What were the other 2?
You touched on it well, one of the things Mob does so well this season is bring you a happy tear. I think it's one thing to make you cry over something sad, and I don't mean to demean those moments, but to frequently bring me to tears of happiness and comfort and warmth is really something special and this season accomplished that at least twice in episodes 1 and 7.
S2 of Mob is such an experience that is almost unmatched and does everything from S1 even better from the music, villians, animation and character's are so top tier with Shiozaki vs everyone and Mob vs Kenji some of the best fights in anime
The possession episode is what's really terrifying to me. This show can get real. And it's the first show to put it in perspective.
The Shimazaki teleportation fight is one of the best fights I've ever seen also the English Dub is great.
I’ve been waiting for you to cover Mob for a while now and when I seen S1 I’ve been eagerly waiting for S2. Great work as always brother!
This series has been my favourite season of anime since it came out. I'm so happy to see it talked about in this depth.
Someone already said this, but yeah, Emi didn’t “dump” Mob. They were never dating in the first place because he rejected her, but his kind nature meant he’d still spend time with her, like walking home with her and then going back to school to train with the Body Improvement Club.
I still remember seeing this season as it aired, so many fantastic episodes and emotional arcs, I need to rewatch this soon
Great work mark and team!
I cried watching this, you present this in an extraordinary light
I'm excited to hear your thoughts on season 3. It's one of the only anime/manga endings I've encountered that felt like an actual satisfying and conclusive ending.
God, the more you talk about it, the deeper in love I get with this story. Mob has been one of my favorite anime’s since watching it, and it quite frankly gets even better in parts of season 3. Can’t wait for next week.
bro this review of mob is your best essays yet. i love how you break down every aspect of the medium. thank you for the best breakdowns on the internet
Mark watching and appreciating Mob Psycho was not something I thought I needed but I'm oh so glad I have
Mob psycho is the only anime to make me feel like I didn’t need to watch more. It made me feel satisfied. Like I didn’t need to watch more even tho it was so good.
I remember episode 5 of season 2 is what made me think, "this anime will be remembered as a classic in the future"
I love how some media and specifically anime tie a track to a specific moment which makes you almost relieve those feelings every time you listen to the track.
Some best examples I can list -
Made in Abyss (Both S1's Hanezeve Carahdina and S2's Old Stories)
Bleach (Number one and Stand up be strong)
Mob Psycho (Mob's theme & Grey)
Anohana's secret base
You're Lie in April with Orange
I surely cried at the end of this anime, you'll love season 3, I'm so excited to watch your review on it!
Season 2 is amazing!
I don't say this often, but your English is simply extraordinary. You show a great range of both simplistic as well as complex expressions, utilised both flawlessly and purposefully, setting just the right theme.
IVE BEEN WAITED FOR THIS IM HYPED
During my high school year I took cross country, and the feeling of watching how you go from almost last place to making it towards your goals feels amazing, the scene where mob is blatantly out of breath and stamina but continues running to try and finish just hit me hard. Although we all knew mob wouldn’t have been able to make it to the top 10 in under a few days of training seeing him improve with his own will and determination just really stuck with me. I listen to the mob psycho OST during my runs and Gym workouts, reminding myself that if mob could do this, I’m pretty sure we all can.
I love this series so damn much. Hearing you talk about it makes me want to watch it all over again and show it to more people ❤
Yeah, I was like "why is there a 3rd season of this show?" too.. it kind of seemed like they already ended it perfectly. Mob already battled and then turned the ultimate bad guy to his way of thinking. What more could there be?
But there is one more "big bad" left. And I felt silly that I didn't predict this, but season 3 is fucking gorgeous.
Reagan is the essence of the phrase "if you can't blow them away with your brilliance, baffle them with your bullshit."
I love this man
Season 2 is like the grand finale of the show, but it feels like some pieces of the puzzle are still misssing. This is when season 3 comes in with the most satisfying ending to a piece of media in recent memory. Cant wait for part 3 of this review
200% blind?
You should go ask Mr.Beast to cure that.
I've never said this about any series, but I think Mob Psycho might actually be perfect. Can't wait to see how much you love season 3!
That was phenomenal. Always look forward to your videos.
I sincerely hope Mark covers the post-Season 2 special. It's just a single episode, but I love it so much.
Thanks and safety to ya as always mate!! (Still hoping for Yu Yu Hakusho and Baki one day,but I'm enjoying this series so far! Keep having fun mate!!)
He's going to LOVE season 3 by the sounds of things. Also, because I watched s2 and 3 so far apart, I didn't at all remember all the s3 foreshadowing here, but it looks like Mark picked up on all of it, so... ye, can't wait to see that react vid.
Favourite series review from you so far. Season 3 baby!!!!!
I watched the review on season 1 and I finally decided to watch the show. I loved it so much that I binged season 1&2 before you came out with this review. Man. This show is damn amazing and I regretted not watching it when it first came out lol. Great review and can't wait for the next eps.
I could only wish I'm half as eloquent as Mark. You're the best!
None:
Mark whenever he watches something:
This is the best anime/manga I’ve ever witnessed in my life!!
This is literally why this is one of my favorite Animes/Mangas ever... This Anime made me feel human, it made me have hope man... I wish I could say thank you to One...
You really GET this series and what it means to a lot of people. Thank you for your video essays.
Your way of describing the last episode almost brought me to tears, almost as if I was watching it again! Ive planned to watch season 1 and 2 again because of season 3 but now more than ever I want to watch it again ❤️
I really like your focus on the music and soundtracks. No reviewer I know pays this much attention to it like you.
as mark didnt mention it, when mob opens up, tsubomi is seeing it, this makes an impression on her, as she puts it " smooth". you could say, that this is a reward"" for his kindness
