Awesome, I've been opening the eye of the hook but never have been 100% happy with the results. Definitely can't wait to try this out when I get home. Thanks.. 🙏
I’ve been wanting to get into jig making and this definitely helps a lot! Btw what skirts do you use? The ones I could find are just 1 packs for 5 bucks a pop.
That poison tail chatter bait is deadly. I tried using the wire form but I have trouble with the hook slipping off somehow. I break some of the poison tail hook eyes but after all expenses to make them I still come out ahead. Thank you again Stimpy for all the helpful videos. Tight lines my friend.
@@ThatGuySkimpy I had two fail, all I got back was the snap and the blade LOL...granted it's possible I forgot to close they eye but I don't think so as I caught several Pike before they failed.
Oh yeah, I wish that 525 wire form was touch longer to avoid under pour around the skirt collar. This is why I started making my own form. Awesome vid buddy.
Thank you for the reply I actually tried it I was able to cut it with a a tiny dremmel tool with a thin metal cutting blade worked perfect. But when I tried pinching it back together and the tiny piece of the eye ring popped out of the head but I think I can make it work. Thank you
I hope do-it or some others get this mold and the poison tail mold back in stock. I can't find them anywhere, and I'm wanting to make some of these baits bad.
i just aneal the hook eye then im done.. pour open put blade on close. but this i also great way to do it as well. As always great video keep up the great work!
The mustad hooks you don't even have to heat the eye, they don't have a super hard and brittle temper to begin with, they have a bit of bend which is good. I use a tapered punch and use a rubber mallet which might also be key.
Have you ever had these wire forms fail? I had two fail last time I was on the kayak and I did a test with some 60lb leader material and was able to straighten out the eye with very little effort. I am kind of leaning to just opening the hook instead of doing these internal connected links. I was using the do-it underspin wrie form and the size 2 figure 8 links from Barlows. the figure 8 links withstood more force than the underspin wire forms.
This might be a dumb question!! Lol bit I can't find the thing anywhere bro. That collar opening tool you have. What is the technical name for it. Who cares it. I haven't seen it in the Do it. Or tacklewesrhouse man. Even a Google search brings up other things. Oh and if you look up banding tools. You will find a tool that farmers use to band livestock. It has 4 prongs. Making the band bigger. Didn't know if it would be somethin we could use for lures. But I don't think it has a lock to set the proper size opening. Luke it won't hold itself open. But it does open up fro. 4 prongs.
Hey Skimpy, do you have any idea for modifying the Arky jig Do-It mold so that I can make recessed eyes, similar to the eyes on the Poisontail jig molds?
I just buy my arkie jigs but I want to attach the blade directly to the head without the spit ring . Anyway I noticed you leave a gap in the jig eye to accomplish that. Do you have any problems with this blade coming off ? After watching I was going to cut the eye near the base of the jig eye so I can insert a blade and eliminate the split ring. What do you think ? Thanks for your input
They don't come off. I use pliers and crimp the wire form shut. I've try cutting them like you mentioned. 2 issues thought. First is it doesn't cut that easy and the last thing is that when you cut it its hard to crimp back closed. With the wire form you are able to but not really with just a hook
Sort of. I've been making tackle making videos for a few years and they will help me out with materials to help me make the videos. I dont recieve any money
@@ThatGuySkimpy yeah I have been follow you for awhile. I use to live in everett. I'm on the east coast now. You invited me to join legend of bass last year.
Thanks for the lesson today. I am happy to learn your techniques. Going shooting today and making bait when I get back.
No problem. Don't be shooting off all your ammo. That's gold these days lol

I literally needed a video like this and then you upload, like you read my mind😂
Lol. Awesome.
Thanks like your video. Could you cut your weed guard pin at an angle to match your mold. Thanks again for the great video
Yeah I guess you could. You still will have to clean it up a little with a file though. To make it smooth

How do you compress the eye of the wire form to keep the blade in place and not fall off ??
I just use pliers and squeeze shut
Great info thanks.
Thanks for watching
Finally first comment! Lol
Keep up the great content. Always looking forward to your guidance.

Will Trokar 700 4/0 spinnerbait hooks work in this set up?
I have not used them personally but I seen that they work great!!!!
Have you ever painted/powdered the blades ?
Yes. I haven't mastered it tho lol
How can i buy some of these awesome bladed jigs that you make?
I dont sell baits but you can get amazing Bladed Jigs here... www.flirtskirtsfishing.com/bladed-jigs

The Skirt Factory Tool.
Where do you get your Teflon sticks to block the weedguard slots?
From Do It molds
Hey Skimpy, do you have any idea for modifying the Arky jig Do-It mold so that I can make recessed eyes, similar to the eyes on the Poisontail jig molds?
Not sure. Maybe put a ball of JB weld in the mold where each eye goes ?????
I use the football and the trokar swim jig with a split rig and man oh man the action on those will rattle your teeth
I use the trokar swim jig with split ring also 🤐🤫🤐🤫

Just used pliers
What other style hook would you recommend other then vmc
I really like the VMC so I've been using them alot. But I also us Mustad 60* hooks. Some Gami hooks too

Probably more knock on a arky vs the poison tail.
Maybe. Not sure. I like the look of the poisontail better so I use it more. I should fish the arky more lol
@@ThatGuySkimpy did you notice the flat eye arkie jig has a wider head than the standard hook mold? The flat eye has a shape more like the sparkie.
How’s it going Pizano
