      I've got the Enterprise D already printed. It's the same scale, but because it's a galaxy class it's much, much bigger than this one. I've been hesitant to start the painting process because of I haven't figure out the best way to do the aztec designs on the ship. I never noticed those details until after I did the research for the print. Good suggestion with the Phaser! I'm searching for some good files to print now. Thank you!

    Good job, that model looks great. Does this model have an internal support stucture? And Do consider installing a lightning kit next time as it brings the model life. I was lucky enough to find a Master Replicas version at a reasonble price, so I know the joy your friend is about to experience! The recent Tomy Enterprise, personally Im glad I passed on it with all the issues it ended up with, yet its selling high on ths aftermarket. Also Im doing the FanHome Enterprise D build..when all the parts arrive that is. And I thought that one was big.. Yours is gonna be so massive Id imagine!! Thanks for sharing!

    • @thepropwiz7121
      @thepropwiz7121  Місяць тому

      Wow! I completely missed the Master Replica's version... gorgeous. The Tomy Enterprise was the one I was referencing in the video, but the Master Replica would've changed that. The overall support seems to be strong, but there is enough room internally to add additional support. It's hard to tell whether it would start drooping over time. I think that's why I go with Gambody despite some inaccuracies. When I buy cheaper random stl models, they seem to fall apart eventually when I upscale them. Thank you for sharing!

    If they are changing little details as a way to get around copyright laws, they are in for a rude awakening. It wouldn't matter if you changed it a lot and changed the name. If you ask them in front of a jury "was this derived in any way from Star Trek?" and they answer "no" and the jury doesn't believe you, then you are guilty of copyright violation. It is incredibly powerful protection and no "little changes" allow you to profit off other people's copyrights.

    • @thepropwiz7121
      @thepropwiz7121  Місяць тому +2

      You're absolutely right. Paramount is very strict with protecting Star Trek in particular. I think I was trying to come up with an explanation for something that didn't make sense to begin with lol. Thank you!

  • @universaljoint
    @universaljoint Місяць тому +2

    Dude! That's fantastic! How did you address potential future nacelle sagging? Any supports in the struts or just a strong infill percentage and type?

    • @thepropwiz7121
      @thepropwiz7121  25 днів тому +1

      Great question! I did not support this one but it printed pretty sturdy. I'm guessing at its normal size, it probably won't droop at all. With my over sized one, it'll definitely sag over time. There is enough room on the inside to add additional support. They have an Enterprise D file that came with a stand that supports all the heavy parts. That would've been nice with this one.

    I LOVE IT!!!! What type of filament? What size nozzle? Will PLA from in a Bambu Labs P1S work? THanks in advance! And again, I LOVE IT!

    • @thepropwiz7121
      @thepropwiz7121  Місяць тому +1

      Good questions! I'm just getting back into printing after taking a break for year. I got inspired by the new faster printers. I went to the store to buy the Bambu Labs P1S, but got cheap at the last minute about bought the Reality K1 Max. The store I went to made it clear that the P1S was the better, easier printer though so you're on the right path. Creality had Hyper PLA that I've been buying, but I plan on trying ABS here in the near future. This thing prints so much faster than my old printer that I just went with the 0.4mm nozzle. In short, I just bought the printer and have just been using it as it is right out of the box. Thank you!

    Hey buddy, which program do you use to split the model so that it fits on the print bed? Thanks in advance. Cheers

    • @thepropwiz7121
      @thepropwiz7121  Місяць тому

      To be honest with you it's been a while since I've had to split models, but I'm hoping to print some sixth scaled vehicles which will make slicing inevitable. I've used Meshmixer in the past because it was easy to add pegs. The models on Gambody, so far, has been small enough to fit on most print beds. Some models, like the Millennium Falcon has a version for large printers as well as one for smaller ones. Let me know if you find a better program to split models.

    Shame the nacelles will continue to droop over time.
    A plastic version of this really benefits from a metal skeleton.

    • @thepropwiz7121
      @thepropwiz7121  Місяць тому +1

      That is my worry for sure. The Enterprise D has a stand that supports the overall model better on top of already having a strong internal skeleton. This one does have enough space to add some support inside.

    • @Iskelderon
      @Iskelderon Місяць тому +1

      @@thepropwiz7121 For the Enterprise-D, it's a good idea to look at that that group Helios Models & Lighting is doing.
      Essentially a metal armature the model can rest on and which you can extend with further strengthening as you wish, kinda like how the filming models from the movies onward were also supported by an internal frame.
