I love this. The Constellation Class is my favorite because of the centered thrust of the Impulse Drives as well as redundancy of Warp Nacelles. I will always prefer the old rule of Line of Sight Warp Nacelles for Design Restrictions. Those Restrictions combined with Center of Thrust, Center of Mass, and overall Architectural Language are wonderful to inspire and push. I think this build in particular takes that to another level. I could even over analyze and come up with lore to emphasize the design choices. "The Shuttle Bay is located just in front of the Line-of-Sight Warp Field Zone, for safety, and near midship for logistics." Very fun ship.

My ADHD cannot resist, so please forgive me while I slip on my taped glasses and pocket protector. I remember reading that one of the points Roddenberry had made about the (original) Enterprise intentionally having such thin and frail looking pylons in comparison with the size of the ship was that they were intended to portray the fact that the nacelles were not propulsive units. Something lost on pretty much everyone. He had also specified that the function and purpose of the nacelles was to create a pair of fields that, where they intersected, created the warp bubble around the ship allowing it to travel faster than light. Also that only the one pair was necessary to create the warp bubble, multiple pairs creating multiple bubbles did not create additional functionality. He had said that the intersection of the fields was lethal, so they had to be set away from the ship to prevent them causing harm to the crew, which is why Roddenberry would likely not have approved of the Defiant's design had he been alive when it was proposed for DS9.
I’m not sure you watched this video but this was designed for Star Trek Picard to be included as another ancestor of the Stargazer, originally seen in TNG’s first season in which Roddenberry himself was involved.

I can get some from closed caption, but a list with links would be much appreciated. Especially the putty and clear coats because I'm interested in using them for a project I'm considering where there will be a lot of gap filling and weathering involved. Thank you in advance.
Is the cross on the back of the engineering section a detail called 'Leitkreuz'? It is a device to enable drivers of vehicles following to check the heading of the vehicle in front during lights-out conditions.
Have you ever thought of using theatrical diffusion gel materials instead of polyfil? There is a ton of variety, directional silks, different frost, even fibrous diffusers. Rosco Lux is my go to.
Yes. I'm using both. There is a layer of Lee 216 diffusion behind the impulse transparencies but because of the tight space between the light source and film, the polyfil helps to diffuse the spot source.
Couldn't help but admire your effort to have a more solid interior in hull windows-- with your 35mm trick. How 'bout generating that interior artwork in layers. Say, pick two planes within the scene and lay that art on blank or clear backgrounds. Then there will be more parallax when viewed. Short of building the interior I think that might be reasonably close and not all that much additional work.
@@MrChief101 thanks. I had thought of that but keep in mind that these are backlit transparencies. Any foreground elements would need to be opaque and front lit or they would be silhouetted against the back plate. This would add more work and a glare to the film.

As I understand it and according to Rick Sternbach who designed the original Stargazer with Andrew Probert, the ship runs on alternating pairs allowing the other to cool so the ship can travel longer at warp. But yes, it also looks cool.
In an age where everything is computer generated, it's truly amazing to see something handcrafted by a master.
The next Star Trek series really needs to have a starbase named after you.

Stellar work (sorry, I had to) the Bussard effect looks really close to the TOS original look, is that how they did it back then?

Beautiful, but where is the aft torpedo tube located? The forward tubes are very prominent and illuminated.

The entire model is 3D printed on a Phrozen Sonic Mega 8K.
