Skunk2 used to be Skunkworks but they were "politely" asked to change the name due to Martin Marietta's military Skunkworks. Which means Top Secret...Great parts they were the first company to support Honda in the states..I believe they started racing Real EG6's in the Phillipines.

Phil Mer is doing a great job and was a great addition to the channel. Also you need to get one of those tall rolling organizers with the bins for all those zinc parts. Don't need to be perfectly organized and separated but at least you could find them easier and roll them around.

I've looked at Josh's Instagram and he has some posts before he was officially working with Tommy. He was talking about how much he appreciated the opportunity and how excited he was to do stuff like this. There could be things we don't know about that sweetened the deal for him, who knows. I encourage you to check his Instagram if you want to understand better how he feels about working there.

The itr 2door rear seat is a direct replacement for the rear of the eg ! You can get the rears to match the front seats

All my skunk2 parts have been the best quality out of all the other company’s I’ve tried Tom. People call them junk2 but eh they’ve served me well
Any part I've gotten from them I've had to fabricate. Intake manifold was cracked and the iat wasnt drilled right out threaded. The Tb had to be sanded down for the map sensor to sit properly and get a proper reading. The rear Lca bolts didn't fit and had to be threaded properly. This was way after the cams snapping as well. Not to mention the awful customer service they have.

🔥🔥🔥 si hatch looks perfect tommy, but if you want it to sound like a nice Honda you will want a vibrant exhaust tip an vibrant ultra quiet resonator with your choice of 2.5 to 3” pipe but skunk2 is great for there control arms, intake manifold and bolt on stuff for a Honda but the exhaust sounds a lil to raspy for me but love the hatch can’t wait to see that black hatch awd 👀

You can also lower it more by using the lower circlip ridge on the shock body, but you REALLY need to take those silver stock spring perches off, the GC sleeves won't seat correctly on top of those perches.
I've always seen Skunk2 as comparable to other "big name" brands in the Honda world. There are certainly better parts out there. The little authenticity cards they provide always make me laugh though.
when it comes to buying valvetrain parts, the authenticity cards come in handy... people were known to replicate or claim they had their cams or valves/springs/retainers
That's because so many people copy there parts. It definitely let's you know that you didn't get screwed.

The original name was skunkworks. I had a friend with an EF sedan with some old school skunkworks parts on it. There must have been some sort of problem with the name and Lockheed Martin so they became skunk 2

I had red ef back in the day, went with oem plus as well. Swapped in a b16a, didn’t have the itr 5 lug though, I went with 2k si rims, vtec was set at 4200 I think, and the normal bolt ons. Aem intake, dc sport header, tanabae exhaust, loved that thing. It’d be sick to win this.

I really think you're going to enjoy the tone and sound of the skunk 2 exhaust system. Back in the day they had wonderful anti-drone technology and their exhaust note was generally deep but not annoying. FYI you won't need the exhaust silencer those are VERY quiet if you use the stock exhaust header from the b16.

I would love to see more videos like this. Videos of just clean rebuilds and clean footage. Show off the work your shop is doing for clients. Honestly customers would pay to have footage like this to go along with their car to show hard work and time put into it

The car is turning out awesome.
Last year I completely overhauled a 8th gen civic like this.
Sanded and painted the subframe, all front and rear control arms, new bushings everywhere.
Koni yellows with swift springs, hasport motor mounts, fresh exedy oem clutch, all new everything with the brakes.
And bone stock k20z3 with a ecu tune.
Just under $3000 and all my own labor turned that beat Si into a solid daily. Would have been awesome on a track.
I sold it for $10k to a local kid. And I'm itching for an early 90's crx or even a late 80's civic to revive now.
This shit is so fun. Just no real profit in it. Gotta do it just for the love of it.

I had a decently clean eg hatch si as my first car. Classic Honda Boy aem intake, skunk2 coilovers, 2000 si wheels, s2000 shift knob... ahh it was clean and I miss it. That was like 12 years ago sheesh.
You need the spoon N1 rolled rip exhaust on this. Subtle and perfect in size
Those painted dots on your tire sidewall are there to assist in the mounting. The red dot if present should be lined up with the valve stem.
Hey, if you ever don’t like the sound of the exhaust, I’d recommend a Yonaka muffler they are the probably the closest to OEM in term of noise and sound pretty good in my opinion.
I use to have skunk2 stuff on my ep3 civic type r. Skunk2 is pretty decent to be fair. I had skunk2 arms. And a skunk2 megapower rr cat back exhaust. It was so loud and it weren't even decatted or still had the original exhaust manifold. Had a tegiwa intake. On k100pro. Miss the honda days that much I had to buy another ep3 for track use. Dont sleep on giveaway.
If you don't like the Skunk2 exhaust, check out the Yonaka Catback. I have one on my EK civic, and it's not raspy or loud at all. Perfect for OEM+
Do you guys torque anything or does josh just tighten everything by hand?
I torque what's necessary. As for retainer brackets, etc that's 6x1.0 or suspension things I have installed thousands of times depending on what it is(larger than 10mm thread diameter is my descretion), I seat it by feel. Since I mainly use hand tools, my feel for most things is dead on when double checked in final inspection.

I’m so jealous, I had a red EG when I got into Hondas. I wish it was an SI with all the Type R stuff and the B16 Type R. I had an LS that could pull my friend’s B16 that matched. You should have went with the S2K booster it’s a lot sleeker.
Had Koni's w/GC back in the day. Don't remember using the oem spring cup. The threaded collar fit on a clip on the shock.
Ive always thought the sound of vtec hondas always sounded best with a header and quieter resonated exhaust so you hear the motor and intake more than a loud exhuast.
Looks almost just like my old Hatch, mine had white wheels and everything. It had the tiny spoiler and a front lip on it though and a doggy16y8, yours does have the same engine/trans combo as my old Del Sol S though. Loved the way that a3 sounded with stage 2 cams 🤤.
Looks good but not sure if it was the light or angle but the rear right quarter panel (red) looks off compared to the pass door or vise versa!
Should’ve done the cheap budget big brake kit. 97-01 Crv calipers with mounting bracket, 02-04 tsx or 97-01 crv pads, 97-01 crv rotors or can do the Mini Cooper base model rotors just need spacers then. Go from 240mm to 280mm rotors
Tommy I have all the skunk2 upper and lower front/ rear control arms/camber kits and they are MINT, what you should have also gotten is the ASR subframe brace, that shit makes the rear sooo tight

Restoration work for me is insurance with hand tools. Line work with newer cars and new hardware is safe for power tools.

Check depth of that radiator cap on the koyos, I tried using a stock one on my 240 koyo and it wasn't deep enough, was forced to use a koyo cap.
One of the most fun track days I've had so far was in my stripped 1.3, base model, white, glacier trim EG Hatch. The thing had sub 90bhp but was so light and responsive in the twisties. I was alllll smiles.
Painting the top of the Koyo was a power move, looks slick

Get a vibrant flat black muffler, best sounds n feels I’ve ever had on my gsr ek, sound throaty n u get the perfect sound from the motor, plus they blend in way better than that skunk can
Skunk2 is actually pretty good parts specially for the money , they really shine in the engine department, back in my honda days skunk2 was running a 9sec flat in the quarter mile in a N/A RSX with like 15:1 compression

Do you do anything to the underneath or back end of the car or do you soley only do restorations of engine, bonnet , subframe etc? Be interesting to see under some cars. Rust repairs. Different upgrades you can do. Same with the back end, mods, repairs and more subframe porn

the delsol vtec and the 99-00 civic si em1 radiator is a dual core if you ever want to go the oem route.
yo the nut you installed goes before the shift boot. meaning you need to remove the shiftboot then install the nut and then put everything back together, and then put the shiftnoob

Yellow dot on the tyre should line up with the valve stem, unless the wheel is marked then the red dot is your alignment point. Lightest part of the tyre next to the heaviest part of the wheel so that there are less weights required to balance it.
