    98 spec itr came with larger brakes, larger master cylinder, different exhaust manifold (4-1 vs 4-2-1) as well as the mentioned cams, and a 4.785 final drive ratio with revised 4th and 5th gear ratios. Larger roll bars by 1mm front and rear, revised spring rates, 16inch wheels with 215s vs the 15s on the 96, rear bumper was slightly revised and im sure I've missed a few bits

    OMG!! I have to tell you since you hired Phil Merr (LMAO! I know it's not his name) the qualities of your videos have improved so much. I love the scenes where you go over the car slowly and it's almost like ASMR cuz you hear the tools and the work being done etc.
    You should create another small film around the garage, the cars you've purchased and then go into your restoring expertise but make it like the first one you did and then host a few car events at your shop. Bro, that shit will take off. I do agree the videos would be so much better if they were 25 to 30 minutes long. Most UA-camrs and now Automotive UA-camrs are starting to follow what the rest of the UA-camrs are doing by extending the time from what used to be norm 10 minutes, to now what feels like the standard, 30 minutes. I don't have Cable. I basically only watch UA-cam but I also watch Tubi, Netflix, prime, peacock, and all the other free channels on the Vizio platform.
    Imagine if you have a live feed going all day in the shop and then you extract the highlights of the day to make your UA-cam videos. Hell yeah!!!

      I’ve been thinking this since Phil started. Videos are much more enjoyable to watch. Just wish they were longer lol. I feel like tommy says “i don’t want this video to be hecka long with a lot of editing for the filmer”… video ends up being 12 mins long 😂

      I run a synchrotech kit on my DC2R and it also works pretty nicely. Stock ones just don't love 20 years of high RPMs unfortunately

    The Honda content is amazing, they really are brilliant cars that bring out the youth in anyone. I'm from Ireland and recently bought a K20 EP3 Type R and it's the most fun I've ever had in a car. Whole different feeling.

    When I was stationed in Japan a friend of mine got a 98 Integra type R back in 2010 year. I had a GTST 32 at the time. He took me for a ride and let me drive it and it changed my perspectives on Hondas from growing up in the US. I am forever a Honda boy now. R32 four-door is still my dream car but no denying my love for Hondas.

      helical lsd is standard, not an option. viscous lsd is optional in DC2 SiR.

      98spec 1st to 3rd is shorter gearing while 4th and 5th is longer... 98 spec also has bigger brakes with the 5 stud... I heard before 96 specs where hand assembled and 98 wasnt...?

    Don't forget dem bigger brakes and 5 lug on the 98 ;)
    It's also funny how the b16b block is essentially a b18c block with longer rods, etc with a shorter stroke ... Same deck height etc, which is why you can take the b16b pistons and whack them in a b16a block is get hectic high comp which is what they did in the improved production series etc to max out OEM

    Well, this video is definitely giving me a bit more motivation to get the 96 spec ITR engine pulled out of the scrap car and get it put into something. My B16A CRX is going to feel super slow if I can tell anything by this video.

    98 spec had a good few differences compared to 96 spec. Xenon lights, nicer rear bumper, 5 stud with 16s, bigger brakes alround, different gearing are a few

    Would love to see a K20A2 build, here in the UK they make 220whp with a tune, they make kits to retrofit them into EK9s and Integras

    Use the B16B head and install it on a B20Z block. With supporting mods you can easily get 195-200whp with a B20vtec. Much cheaper than buying an ITR longblock

    Okay Tommy here is what you do for your Honda engine predicament. You get a b16a3 head with a b18c3 bottom end and put them together to make a Frankenstein engine that will put down about 210hp 192tq with the b16 cam you are speaking of and a decent tune on it. You can mix and match blocks heads, valves, Pistons between all of the B series engines to create all kinds of different combinations from rev happy with no torque to all the grunt and no RPM or any combination of the two that you wish. But all in all with what you are asking for- and how you felt about the integra type r jdm version I really think you need to do the b16 head on the b18c3 bottom end!!

    @9:45 My 94 del sol with the b16a3 had skunk2 stage 2 cams and adjustable cam gears, with headers/CAI, and a basic dyno tune and was at 187 whp can't remember what TQ was at but it really woke up with those mild cams and a little cam/ignition timing.
    P.s. That things engine tone in VTEC sounds so good. 😈

    Yes you’re 100% correct. 98 spec the sought after model. Due to having SLIGHTLY more HP , slightly shorter gearing having a 4.7 fd vs 4.4 in 96 and they also have the five lug vs the 4 lug and they changed some options and such I think too

    Spoon dose alot of b16b civic type r engines where they put b18 type r bottom end inside the b16 type r block ...so you could rebuild the civic type r motor with the b18c5 bottom end

    The absolute BEST VTEC crossover and all around sound from a Honda comes from a full Mugen twin loop exhaust. My Type S prelude came with a full system from the factory and the crossover is insanely crisp! That would be a perfect OEM+ exhaust for this ITR.

    I’d sell the Phoenix yellow ITR, keep the EK and Jdm ITR. They are both great JDM masterpieces. And potentially a Kswap for the ek9. Love the sound of the JDM ITR, sounds rowdy as hell.

    My itr didn't like high rpm changes. Change the gearbox oil for gm syncromesh oil. It loved it. Don't know if its still current advice but 10 years ago it was

    Try changing out the gear oil to redline or Honda oem, I had the same problem in my accord at high rpm and my trans was over filled by previous owner and had some old ass burnt out fluid in it, soon as I changed it all the problems went away

    I use to have that itr engine in my ek midori green and i did 13,72 on the 1/4, no burnout, slow and nice lunch with good tire. I have to say it had a tuned from a shop from japan ''Feel's'' if anybody know them, they know how honda b,h,k,f series work! And yes do it put that itr engine in the ek9 with the itr trans with 4.47 final drive!

    The steering wheel in the Zenki 96 Spec ITR is nicer than the ones that come in the Kouki models. They use the same wheel in the EK9 and CL1 Accord Euro Rs. It's chunkier. Same wheel is also used in some Ferrari models.

    I think I read somewhere that the B16B from the EK9 basically has the same block as the B18, with different internals and I believe one has a bit more headwork than the other. If this holds true it could be helpful if there is a build in order for the EK9.

    Wow can’t believe the usdm is so much heavier. Makes sense why you were underwhelmed a bit when you got. I have only driven jdm 96s and 98s. I have seen lots of b18 swapped ek9s and generally the Dc2 is still faster. Non scientific opinion is the aero and lower profile of the Integra allow it to move faster.
    The hype is real when it comes to jdm itrs. My first car was an eg6 sir II. Got a 98 jdm itr after it and the first time I drove it fast I could not believe how different they felt. Glad to see others confirm this back to back and that it wasn’t all in my head at the time.

    You should check the '99 Accord type R (CH1) with H22A7 engine, it's a unknown Type R but got some serious power, lsd and a good stock chassis. They sold the accord euro R CL1 in japan reffert to the Accord type R, only sold in europe, they are based on the same chassis. I lives in france and I got one CH1 and man it's a real Type R. Loves your honda boi content

    Stroke the b16b in the ek9.. b18c crankshaft and rods and keep the pct b16b pistons. Youve a high comp fassst “b18c” while keeping the original ek9 b16b block

    You need to change the thermostat in the car thats why its not heating up. Also wont let you hit vtec. 98 itr has HiD head lights, 4.785 final drive, 4-1 factory stainless headers, 5 lug with 36mm cv nuts (big axles compared to USDM and EK9) 98+ ITR heads are also machine ported not hand ported like early ITR, 98+ itr is lower then 95-97, 98+ ITR also has a larger rear sway bar and different rear bumper. Quite a lot of differences but the gearing kills the 98+ 4th and 5th are longer but swap them out for the 96 4th and 5th and with the 4.785 final drive it makes for a super short fun transmission.

    the steering wheel in the EK9 is a Momo which is also the same one used in a ferrari, also B16B is just a destroked B18C Motor, get a legit spoon chip for the ecu to open that B16B

    The ek9 needs a jdm s80 4.7 final drive type r gearbox, be a big difference and more rev happy 😊

    Sounds like, as all honda transmission's of that age, the syncro's are likely worn out. It's a relatively simple fix honestly.. at most a couple hours to open, inspect, replace and reseal the transmission. The parts are also affordable.

    hondas shine cornering. i have a 8th gen civic r18 making around 300, has a rotax belt driven and a level 10 trans good for 500hp, people hate the autos but i kinda love it only thing i don't love is the no control over the overdrive if i could turn off 5th gear it would be a real ripper.

    Toda headers and a B18C crank n pistons into the B16B please.
    High RPM issues shifting. If the clutches ok it's likely the synchros are toast.

    They have the 94-97 style rear bumper they are 4x114 and instead of 5x100 the wheels do come champ white and the seats are black wit read sticking instead of red and the momo factory wheel I actually have the exact steering wheel and they have the 4.40 final drive where the 98 jdm itr has a 4.78 final drive but the temp sensor on the side of the cylinder head under the dizzy and vtec solenoid is either bad or bad connection or not plugged in

    Had a ej7 bolt on tuned making 170hp and the torque on that was nuts can’t imagine a ITR. Been wanting a daily Honda but ive been holding myself back because I know I’ll build it correctly now and spend too much😂

    tommy you need to have the white itr tuned and have the vtec kick in around 4500 rpm instead of where it is now. will make a big difference in low rpm pulls.

    Jdm dc2 type R, arguably the best fwd type R of them all. Shame it hasn’t got the red interior though.
    I had my inlet manifold vapour blasted yesterday and fuck me it looks like new.
    I also dropped off a bag containing the entire engines exterior hardware to the plating shop for yellow zinc after some work with the sandpaper and the drill 👌
    I’m building the Saxo to FYeah spec it would appear…

    98 Specs are also 5 stud with the bigger wheels you have on the EG and have a few more changes, mostly cosmetic.

    The b16b is the same block as the b18c. If you want to make it more power all you have to do is b18 crack and rods
