Keith Whitley-"Hopelessly Yours"

- This is a rare demo of a song that Keith co-wrote that never made it on to any of his RCA-era albums. Suzy Bogguss had a hit with her version of the song which was a duet with Lee Greenwood. That version appears here on UA-cam with video from the soap "General Hospital."
Many thanks to my UA-cam friend Brian (BengalsRedsfan4life) for lighting a fire under me and for his continued support.
How I miss turning on the radio and always hearing songs like this. What has happened to our world? I'm glad I remember better times.
Remembering 1992 Lord just give us back Keith Whitley and Chris LeDoux and music will be saved. On a side note, check out Kevin Moon's version of this. He's absolutely amazing
Remembering 1992 what happened is like George Strait and Alan Jackson said there was a murder on Music Row listen to the song
I think we’ve gotten old.
Listen to the song that George Strait Alan Jackson put out called murder on Music Row !!!!!
Best 💑 of country 🎵, & the 😭. Rip❕
Although I understand that as human beings, we must understand all about the why and wherefores, but he was a MAN first, a HUMAN BEING second, AND AN ENTERTAINER, LAST.. he was a husband, a father, etc. He had a drinking problem, many people do. Nobody has to be to blame. It happens. He was an excellent writer, performer, and person, nonetheless, and his memory should not depend on what he drank, but what he left as a legacy for his children, maybe a little tarnished, but beautiful, and loving.
I love this song and sing it all the time. Long live the legacy of Keith Whitley
What a great loss in this world & in country music. Sometimes, we try to drink the pain away....a little more each time until we don't wake up to face the challenges of what tomorrow brings.
We miss you Keith. RIP man.
I am KC & I approve this message
RIP Keith we miss you
Everybody has felt this way about someone at some time in their life.
This is a beautiful song! I think they must have loved each other in their own ways to even be together. I like them both as musical artist and the rest is none of my business, just like it is no one else's! No one knows what goes on in a home unless they are in the home!
This reminds of my late husband.
You said that perfect , no one's buisness but theirs , to much speculation of private lives !!!
Anything this man sings please post, anything his touch’s turns to gold, i promise, just post all of his unreleased material, Keith Whitley fans love that unique pure sound.
Is that why i cant find it on i tunes?
He wrote it, how is it unreleased?
How tru I love all his so GA
Greatest voice in country ever. Can't get enough of Keith.
A hurtin song that brings back pass memories. Great singers...
I can not believe I found this man on you tube. He was my favorite and now I play this over and over. No one has and never will touch him. What a voice. His son looks like him and i hope he hits it big one day. Lorie still sounds good. Just keep up the good work. Miss Keith. God Bless.
Oh how i miss him and his fantasic voice. I just wish he was still here!!! ❤❤
Thank you very much for your kind compliment! Only the best for our dear Keith.
Why did this man leave this world ???
He's very missed, and very much needed.
We miss you Keith
This is an absolutely beautiful song. Too bad you are no more to bring out more beautiful songs like this. Keith whitley's voice has a very sad, lonely tone.
I cry everytime I play this, so sad ,,,such a good singer....you should be proud Lorrie that he sang this to you,,,,,,
Keith must be in the Country Music Hall of Fame! He is THE BEST and I miss him!
Hello Susan how are you doing!!
People the plain and simple fact is that Keith was an awesome artist with his life in the limelight for all the world to see. Millions of people have addictions but we don't have to worry about being scrutinized by the world. He had an awesome voice and could write damn good songs. Anybody on a high horse judging others needs to realize that everybody is different. If we wasn't then everybody would look alike, sound alike, etc.!!!! Then there would be no such thing as artistry!!
Beautiful song another great Keith Whitley sing
Hello
LISTEN TO THIS GIVE ME GOOS BUMPS!!!!!!!!! GREAT STEELWORK,,,,,,,GREAT.
Keith Whitley was an amazing talent. He had it all. Good Country Voice, absolutely outstanding song writing ability and a great band. But he was an alcoholic. It was not Lorrie Morgan's fault. It was HIS choice. For gosh sakes folks, quit blaming Lorrie Morgan for his mistakes. Who are you to judge? No one knows the dynamics at home. I expect neither were angels. Okay? Most of us aren't. God Rest his soul and I for one thank him for his music. Wish he was still here.
Now *this* is country.
Keith Whitley was true honest-to-goodness country and I miss his music. RIP, Keith.
Love his deep voice in the song
Hello Donna how are you doing!!
Rip Keith. You are greatly missed taken way too soon. I love you your biggest fan. Country music Hall of famer
This song is something that I’ve heard years ago and still sits behind my mind
A year ago I posted this I'm here cause I'm going threw a separation and I just couldn't believe I came here to hear this
I never knew he did this song....I remember being a little girl and singing this song with my mama....such a beautiful song...
Just heard this song for the 1st time today - all I can say is WOW.
Just like Miami My Amy and Between and Old Memory and Me - a classic.
He sure can git it !!!!!!!!!!! awesome keith
What a beautiful song and don't I know how it feels. How I'd love to record this song and post it to the love of my life who right now is trying to figure out what to do with us. Thank you Keith. We were kindred spirits in many ways. You are deeply missed.
I lost my other half of 17 years July 5, 2006. He too was an alcoholic. I have an urn necklace with "Hopelessly Yours" engraved on the back, this song just described my feelings perfectly at the time and we were both HUGE Keith fans. If you or someone you love suffer from alcoholism PLEASE seek help, I promise you're worth it and living aint all that bad! God bless.
♫One things for certain, in spite of this hurtin', I'll always be hopelessly yours.♪ I miss you! RIP Boo
Kory???
Oh I love this song. I adore both Keith Whitley RIP. I know your beloved Lorrie loved you very much. I'm your Lorrie's number 1 fan and yours Keith. I'm sending this message from Ireland 🇮🇪☘️☘️☘️ 💕💐🙏 X ❤️🌹
Krásná píseň krásný hlas hezké snímky Lorrie a Keitha 🌹❤️🌹
Excellent!
Love this song
It's a statement of the time we live in. Many of us are just so sensitive and take much of what is said to us the wrong way. The last 2 years that I've become really, really involved in the Keith Whitley Country Music Hall of Fame petition drive has also been a crash course in human nature, but I've been a fan of Keith's for 21 years.
Our hats are off to you for your efforts! Hands down a Country Music Hall of Fame Talent to say the least of Keith Whitley. Videos like this remind us of just how great He was ! His music and legacy lives on ! Thanks from the bottom of our hearts for posting and sharing these! ❤
Wonderful what a talent another hidden gem here ...
Greetings from IRELAND 😉
I really liked Keiths music and was privileged to see him in a bar in Pensacola, Fla. There was only a few people there but Keith sang like there were thousands. He was a super gentleman and even took pics with my sister and I. I cherish the picture. I cried when he died. A true talent gone before his time. Its obvious how much Lorrie loved him when you hear her music. God keep Keith in his loving arms. He is at peace.
Hello Sarah how are you doing!!
Keith Whitley was nothing short of INCREDIBLE ! He does this rough demo beautifully. This song was also recorded by the GREAT George Jones many years ago. It might be on an album of George Jones' Duets, titled "Ladies Choice".
Thank you Sharon for this upload....i love all Keith's music but this one is a so deep from his heart. We are truely blessed to have lived and felt real emoiton with the great Keith Whitley!
i had lunch with Kieth's mom also Daisey the county clerck invited my crew when we were wireing the apartment's in Sandy Hook back in the late 80's loved the hospitality of the people in Elliot County

Amen!
Keith was easily one of the best ever.
I love me some Mel Street too!
Beyond beautiful by him!
Hello Ruth how are you doing!!
No, sadly, this was one of many that didn't make it on any legitimate release. There were some shaky ones, but most of the unreleased material were definitely worthy of legitimate release. And this one was one of them, I agree. Thank you!
There will never be another Keith Whitley.
He was a great singer love him today
I will always be hopelessly yours 😘
No matter what, the videos shows Keith's love for Lorrie and her Love for him. You can see the love there.
I love this song x
what a shame such a short life yet so much talent gone forever r.i.p. Keith.
When I was last in Sandy Hook on Labor Day Weekend '06, my mom & daughter got bored and wanted to take a hike down the nature trail that runs behind the visitors center there. When we came back in from the hike, my friend Jeff (mdgtrpkr) told me I had just missed Jessie by, like, 5 minutes. He said he had been there with his posse to visit with his Grandma Faye. AAAARRRRGGGGHHH!
this song is gorgeous amazingly true too the ones u love xx
WOW! Makes you wonder what the future could have held for those two. Beautiful family, such a loss

Hello Joanna how are you doing!!
Anybody who thinks she didn't suffer too is crazy!!!! Yes, he had such an amazing voice but so does she. Their children read these posts and love both!!!!!
Thanx4 uploading this song, by the ORIGINAL artist! Keith is and ALWAYS will be a LEGEND! People can remake his songs, still sound great, but absolutely NOBODY is Keith! The vid u made was beautiful, ur wife is a lucky woman!
Great Video, I've always been a great Keith Whitley fan, my brother sings a whole lot like Keith, my dad traveled and played country music all our lifes, never been much of a Lori Morgan fan tho...Thanks for sharing and visiting our site,Barely Here Band.
Keith, George, & Greenwood & Bogguss. All awesome versions!
I love this video. I miss him..his voice rocks. I do not know the whole situation. I will have to read about it. RIP Keith.

Thank you, Shirley, that's so sweet!
Thanks, Gerry, for stopping by! I've always been a big fan of your channel. Thanks for all your posts!
Gone at 32, and this recording shows the ravages his voice had already suffered. Just one of the pointless deaths in music due to substance abuse. I came home from a ball game in New York, and heard the bulletin on the news at 2 A.M. It was an awful jolt. I love "Till Each Tear you Cry Becomes a Rose."
not to take anything away from keith he had wonderful talent & an amazing voice.lee greenwood & suzy bogguss do a very good version of this song as well.wished keith was still around tho.there was so much emotion & truth in the things he sang about.dont get that these days.
Fantastic voice and great song thanks for this great post
Wow, I didn't know Keith Whitley also had a version of this. The Suzy Boggus version came out when I was little and I would get excited every time it came on. You don't hear it played very often, sadly.
I just know you'll give it love, Mark. I'll be waiting with bated breath for your version!
EXCELLENT!!!! THANKS!!
this is a great song by this lengend singer
That clip was from the documentary "The Life And Times of Keith Whitley" that TNN made around 1995 or so. It is here on youtube by the same person who made this video. Great show if you ever see it!
Yes. Yes. Yes....I love it. i will be recording this one........Great video
Mark
I dont think she ever lost sight of keith or ever got over him
Hello Annie how are you doing!!
great song! RIP keith
The 95 people that dont like this are crazyyyyyyyyyy.
Beautiful
GREAT SONG!
Great voice as usual from one of the best ever! & I just got done reading all the posts...man o man what a mud slingin contest...#growup
Very nice song.
Great song. Come from heart.
He had alcoholism which was made worse by the fact that he never dealt with the demons of his past. It is unfortunate that a great talent like Keith is gone due to this disease.
You did a REALLY great job with this video!!
Dear Aarti,
For me, our love, our dreams, and our relationship was more special than anything else in this world. i guess i will never understand what made you play me like the way you did. Its a hard life without you. i miss you everyday, girl.
Hopelessly yours,
Gantu
If you watch, I believe, part 1 of my video series "The Life & Times of Keith Whitley," you will hear his brother Dwight tell how he thought Keith came into alcohol addiction as a teenager. He said that ppl offered it when you come offstage, & it was readily available. And at that point in his life, he was not mature enough to say no, and Ralph Stanley let him have it. He felt he was responsible for him only to a point. Keith's dad Elmer was a drinker, too, but was not addicted to it like Keith.
I dont think Lori did anything to keith but love him the best she could and he loved her. Keith just struggled with the bottle as many of us have and while tragic you cant always make a conspiricy out of everything. I would rather remember keith in all his glory as a fellow kentuckian.
Amazing voice he was one of the best ever...
Hello Yvonne how are you doing!!
A "Rare Hidden Gem!"This deserves to be released as a Classic!
Talent is secondary to the music industry. It is a business and they'll produce whatever the public will buy..sometimes talent and public taste combine and great singers and songwriters become successful. Keith Whitely was a great artiste who will be remembered . I wonder why so many country artistes have English names..Parton..Nelson..Jones..Strait..Jackson..Black..Cash and of course..Whitley...best wishes to you all from across the 'pond'.
RIP good man
brought me to tears ,so much to relate to. . .. im from where hes from. . .
I never knew he wrote this... I sure miss him.
Good song John conlee covered it i in 1989
@RheaSoHappy Wow! Glad you enjoyed it so much! Thanks so much for stopping by!
miss him he can sing love song so sweet
MAMsMoM 97...thank you for replying...you are very polite..you would be suprised at the country music following here in Liverpool..I have learned so much by scanning these forums and discovered some fabulous artistes. A lot of American records are not even released here. I asked some lads in our local pub...'Who is Garth Brooks'...after being in a huddle for a while, theyy came up with' He's a footballer'.(and at that time he'd sold 60 million records world wide)....best wishes to you and yours.
Nice!
i dont think i could cry any more i love keith whitley i think of him every day an every day i get on here even if i can only get on for 5 mins i get on her just to here her him sing to me every day An i cry every day to the funny songs to the sad songs. my name is amber an i a 21 years old i never got to now him but i will always be his bigist fan i love you keith whitley R.I.P
