Two of the sweetest sounds ever created by human beings, is the Ford Flathead V8 and a Merlin powered P-51 Mustang. Music of any kind can't measure up.
Sweet, sweet sounding engine, sure do miss my first car. I actually started in a 1947 3/4 ton ford truck. Sound is stuck in my head. Thanks for posting
Donovan Bryant I've had the pleasure of seeing this car at several other events & slow isn't the word that comes to mind. In this video it's more the way he's driving it.
Is that a Frenzel supercharger modified to lay horizontal...??? Thats as rare as an honest politician in Washington...!!! I had a 34 Ford roadster in high school that I bought from a rod club. It had no engine !body was lowered over the frame but frame was no “bucked” over the rear axle. Body work was done thru primer so we painted it 58 Chevy Royal metallic Blue, fwd axle was chrome plated, backing plates were chrome ,radius rods were chrome!and FW was stainless steel. 8:00 x15 s on the back,6:00 x15 on the front. Engine was a stock 255 Merc with Fenton Heads and a two carb manifold( Str 94s) . We ran the dual pipes thru pick up truck mufflers and I thought it sounded “nerdy” ,not like yours...!!! Sad day when I called from college asked my kid bro to sell and send me the money for my book fees... $500 is all he got for it in 1962... no one wanted a flattie... they all wanted 327s...!!! Think what a steel bodied 34 would be worth today...!!! Scream...!!!!
I was 447 to thumbs up. Odd how the world works. On the account of my pickup being a 47 Ford. I need a goal to finish my truck. How fun was this? Looks really cool.
the sound of a flathead is very different from what one hears, I like the sound of a flathead, but how efficient is its torque and hp? And how difficult it is to get the parts for a flathead .. I would like to have one if I get it .. cheers
I wouldn't know if turbo flatheads are great for racing. it probably all depends on the handicap rules, but I think the concept makes a great deal of sense for moderate street performance, except for the fact that all automotive flatheads are antiques, so there is a argument for gentle treatment.
The Hot Rod Hill Climb happens in Central City, CO usually around the second week of September. The sister event, The Hot Rod Dirt Drags, is held in Monte Vista, CO usually the first week of June.
Alexander Reimer, it is not a timed event. This also was the first time the event had been held in 60 years. Plus I think Ed's son is driving & he wasn't really used to the car.
The coil and - especially - the fuel pressure regulator are flopping around too much to suit me. Only a matter of time before the metal fuel line (from the regulator to the carb) cracks.
Still a great ride-along 8-9 years later, what a nice beasty!

The merlin v12 airplane engine and the Perkins diesel are the only things the british ever made that was worth a damn.
My sweetest engines sound
Ford V8 Flathead
Ford 7.3 IDi V8 Turbo Diesel
Mack E9 Series V8
Subaru Boxer Turbo engines
Ford V6 3.0
Personally I love the sound of a small block Chevy too but maybe that’s just me
It ain't what it does, it's the way that it does it! That old flat head V8 sound is awesome. Not a lot of horse power but plenty of low down torque.
Honey for my ears nothing beat the old Ford Flathead V8
Absolutely awesome sound from the old flattie.
OMG, listening to that sound is so relaxing

Watching this made me feel so much better!
The flathead V8 is the best sounding engine of all time.
idc if they are slow engines they are still awesome

What an awesome event to go to!
Stand on it son!
You don’t have to have massive amounts of horsepower to be bad ass. That McCullough super charger and the sound is better than any I have heard.
so relaxing sound

Sweet sound! 😁😜🤪
Who made the supercharger on this engine?
Isn't that a Holset?

Don't know if i have to ask, is it ok to use this great audio for slideshow background?
Like that sound
You are from Germany? Lebst schon lange in der USA?
I hope he secured his fuel pressure regulator since 2014 .
Those Spectre FPR's are junk anyway, known for leaking
...centrifugal supercharger on a flathead ford v8...doesn't get much better than that...very cool. I was at the event...very cool also...
You wouldn't happen to know the maker of that supercharger, would you?

Needs a 5 spd gear box…!!!
Short shifting
This is just an exhibition run... not performance...!!!
The right front wheel is unbalanced.
I thinks its bent a little.
@@LordMekanicus You think?
Doesn’t appear to be driving hard or fast ... is this just an exhibition event...!!!??

I drive faster than that on the way to church
Slow driver
