    I have to try this. I have long, super thick (dense) hair that is fairly fine and is now turning into a lovely shade of gray. I have always shied away from anything that promotes volume and so glad to know this would work well.

    First let me say you are absolutely wonderful I enjoy your teaching and the fact that you keep it real my question is when I add my water portion of my conditioner I put a lot of additives in there that I water-soluble Is there a way to incorporate it into the bar

    I like how this turned out. I still don't understand how to formulate my own shampoo bar. The recipe I use, from the workshop I joined, has citric acid which takes time to melt. The solution has to be at a certain temperature too before the pour, it's kind of annoying coz it starts to solidify by then. 😅

    As a former hairstylist, I loathe heavy waxes as it just builds film on the hair and weighs it down. What do you recommend to use in place of any waxes (ewax, etc)?

    • @MrsSoapAndClay
      @MrsSoapAndClay  Рік тому +2

      Hey! That's so interesting because I tend to not like waxes either, but my stylists always give me waxes to use. Because cetyl and cetearyl alcohol are so firm, you could eliminate the wax and sub in either of those fatty acids in their place and still get a firm bar.

    • @sarahpaxton3793

      @Soap & Clay thank you 😊 🙏 I was hoping I could do that! I'm on a budget and I didn't want to use too much inventory up formulating.

    BTMS is synthetic, it's brilliant, especially in hair care, I use it a lot. However it isn't natural, nor naturally derived.

    • @MrsSoapAndClay
      @MrsSoapAndClay  2 роки тому +1

      Hmm. I dunno! I’ve never done so, but that doesn’t mean much of anything because I just don’t work with soy wax much. If you try, let me know!

    Why should you put optephen in this if it dosent contain water? It it because it will come in contact with water and the oils are unsuponified?

    • @MrsSoapAndClay
      @MrsSoapAndClay  2 роки тому

      It’s because it will come in contact with water, correct. Always your call as to whether or not you included something, though.

    By synthetic shampoos, do you mean the ones with surfactants like sodium cocoyl isethionate etc? One major reason why many people like those over the ones with actual soap and why they are gaining popularity is the pH. Soap has a really high pH, and while skin recovers from that quickly, hair doesn’t. I know some people use apple cider vinegar rinses after a soap shampoo, but not everyone wants to. And many people are left with a sticky residue from soap. The ones with other surfactants can have a lower pH, closer to what our scalp and hair would otherwise have, and leave no sticky residue.

      @MrsSoapAndClay  Рік тому +2

      There are so many interesting studies both debunking your claim and supporting it, in equal parts. Everyone’s hair is different, and many people have zero problem with cold process shampoo. Others don’t. Gotta pick what’s right for you!
