I often find that I can’t throw full on Muay Thai kicks in sparring. For one I don’t want to hurt my sparring partner. I’d I throw at full speed I’ll add way too much power. I want to learn how to throw/ set up snappy kicks so I can work on them in sparring without hurting my opponent.
I used to double up buakaw roundhouse kicks when I spar, now I use them less frequently because I adjusted my style a bit more now Gabriel. I will add these pointers that you mentioned to my roundhouse kick game as well! 🥊
Gabriel, great videos. I suggest you to make new material how to stretch for Thai side kick, there is no such a video on UA-cam, it would help us a lot. Also I would like more details on technique of Thai side kick
4:08 The foot elevation after a switch is something that I've come to struggle to relate with. I only really do it now when I need that extra pop and height or if I have to do doubles or rapids on pads where the stance reset isn't the priority, but in more realistic scenarios where it is, it tends to slow me down a tad bit more since my weight is fully committed towards the direction of the kick making it harder to pull the kicking leg back to reset, whereas when I'm a little more flat, I'm in a more balanced/stable position for a more controlled and near-effortless retraction. Thankfully, I never found myself sticking to the floor because I don't unpivot the foot to go back to stance; the moment my kicking foot touches the floor, I step/slide the pivoted foot backwards so my retraction/reset works kind of like how it does when you retract from a pendulum kick if that makes sense. So sure, there's a tad less power in the kick but I find that the reset speed more than makes up for it especially in sparring when I can't fully commit to power anyway and people are often willing to eat kicks in their eagerness to counter.
Notice, the other guy made no attempt whatsoever to block or leg check the kick(s). Notice also, in the video where the Monk kicked Buakaw in the nuts 30 times in one fight, Buakaw apparently doesn't know white belt level leg checks, because he made no effort to leg check the other guy's groin kicks.
@@randomanonymoushuman Anyone who gets kicked in the nuts 30 times in one exhibition doesn't know what the fuck they are doing. I don't care if hes a ten time "world champion". win record doesn't mean jack squat when you only fight against noobs.
@@randomanonymoushuman I've never been successfully kicked in the nuts in a karate full contact sparring match even where groin kicks were allowed. We used to do it to one another, and the men got so good at leg checking vs groin kicks that the female fighters gave up trying to kick us in the nuts. Like I said, anyone who gets kicked in the nuts 30 times in one exhibition doesn't know what they are doing.
@@randomanonymoushuman They declare a world champion and didn't invite me to compete, jackass. If I fought him in my prime vs his prime I'd end his career early. lol.

take the power off by bending your knee as you land. you can practice this on a bag. But you can throw very quickly without landing hard.
@@whitewh1 okay I’ll try this
