I find myself saying this often to my sons 🤣🤣
Too bad I don't have a dad
He ran off like a toddler in distress looked back with the "the trust is gone" look .😂😂😂😂😂
😂 I did that to my son when he was like 2.5 yrs old. He wanted more vanilla ice cream. I gave him a spoonful of sour cream instead (because we had it out for tacos). The look on his face lives in my memory. I feel so bad, he's never fully trusted me since.

Yes. True. Small bite of durian just gives you the gasoline pungent smell without the taste, flavors, and texture. I think durian comes from the 4th dimension. 😂😂😂
he said the truth tho when you eat a lot then you can taste how good it is😂😂
"One more bite" makes this bridge culture and generations
Let me say "Oh yeah daddy right there" ... thank you
Dude you're totally right.
Plus his dad is right when he told him to take a big bite, because if you take a small bite of during you're just going to get the aromatics wafting into your mouth and then you're going to be breathing through your nose and it's going to smell bad and you're not going to be able to actually taste the durian fruit but if you have a full mouth, the aromatics aren't going to over stimulate your nose because there's not going to be very much air going through your mouth and you'll be able to actually taste the durian itself and not just the smell. I wish he did actually take a big bite because I bet he would have LOVED it. It's so good.
Btw my friend's mom told me to take a big bite and I didn't and all I could taste was the smell, so that's how I know what would happen. She was able to talk me into actually taking a big bite by betting me I couldn't do it for $5 and after I took the big bite and realized how good it was I told her she was right all along and could keep her money lolol God that happened when I was 15 and I'm almost exactly a month away from turning 30, so that was literally half my lifetime ago...... For people who eat Durian, it smells "fragrant". Can't explain it, brain just switched up at some point. The first time I heard someone say it smells bad, I thought they were crazy.
True. I dont eat a lot of it, but to me, it smells good
I strongly suspect that there's a cilantro-like genetics thing going on, where different people are truly tasting different things. I don't see any other good way to explain the huge differences in how people apparently perceive durian's smell and taste.
(I'm in the "kinda like vanilla cream with caramelized onion and a hint of smelly cheese" group myself. Wouldn't say I love it, but I'll eat it from time to time.)

His dad has one of the simpler yet more accurate descriptions of what a durian smells like when ripe: it really smells like gas. It has a sulfur-like scent.
Every Asian dad is always like one more bite no matter if you like it or not they’re always going to say one more bite
Back in the day my dad used to ship durian to the US, he told me a story of one time the shipment was delayed at JFK, and the container was held. Because of how long it took, the durian began to smell very pungent, and people assumed because of the “gasoline” smell there couldve been a leak. They ended up closing down a section of the airport because of durian😂
I still remember the one time my parents bought a durian they immediately threw it out because of the smell, I told them it was supposed to smell like that but they didn't care.

I don't like a lot of fruits so I really doubt I would like durian, BUT I just got some flat rice paper things from Vietnam and they happened to be the durian flavour I guess, it's listed as the last ingredient so can't be too much. They do maybe have a taste I'm not super into and have to get used to but they're really not bad and I can see them being likeable. I've seen people describe durian as very creamy and custardy and I kinda understand that based on the taste of the rice papers, there's something off but it's not funky or smelly or gross.
Literally the only fruit that has so many opinions on; like taste but hate smell, vise versa, hate both, or like both. I love durian
Observation: I'm not sure why but many people trying durian for the first time tend to smell it before eating it. Like you already know it's infamous for its smell. You don't have to smell it before eating. The key to tasting it properly is to just eat it without smelling it. And if you think it tastes like onions, it means you got a partially unripe durian. I always judge the taste of durian based on how soft and creamy the texture is. Crunchy = Unripe and probably disgusting for beginners. It's supposed to taste like creme brulee and the better tasting ones have an alcohol flavour to them too. Bitter durians pack a punch yet taste the best. Once you get used to the smell, they become more sweet. Usually the bad smell of durians are when you smell them from far away.
Your dad is amazing. The love you guys have is special, and you should never take him for granted. Make sure to appreciate all the time you have with him that you can. You are one lucky kid, man.
